ParticipantI really think that whole ‘actor wanting out of the show’ thing has been blown WAY out of proportion and fans need to stop using that as an excuse for the spoiler of doom. They said it was storyline dictated, period, and I think they’re smart enough to realize that there will be heck to pay if we all find out they lied to us. You just can’t do stuff like that and expect to keep your fans watching your show. If it comes out later that it was actually true, then I’ll begrudgingly eat my words but I find that whole rumor really hard to believe especially thinking back on the source of it (stupid PA is stupid and hopefully fired). Let’s not let that get back into our brains again. None of the cast members on this show seem unhappy at all. MRJ especially has never said a bad thing about this show and the fact that he’s been in this business for a LONG time now leads me to believe he’s not going to just say “I’m out” on a full time gig when he’s not someone who’s had a lot of those in his career. Contracts can change, yeah, people can change their minds, yeah….but I would have hard time swallowing TPTB signing him to a full time cast member only to dump him again at the end of the season (seriously, WE JUST DID THIS LAST YEAR). That makes NO sense and I don’t think A&E would do that to the fans. They may be trolls who annoy us to no end but they started this SwanFire story right from the start and I refuse to believe that they’re going to end it in some type of horrific way for the SF fans. They wouldn’t have given us so much to hold onto in the show, Adam wouldn’t bring Neal up when not asked about him (see his tweet about the Valentine’s Day things…remember that it was Adam who pointed out Neal would have had one too if he’d had a say in it), and we wouldn’t be going through the ringer so much if there wasn’t some type of payoff for that coming up. This is all TV 101….no writer or creator of a show is going to break one of those unwritten rules and risk alienating so much of their fanbase by lying and misleading them for almost two years.
Stop giving the BTS stuff and the trolls on the internet that much power. They don’t know ANYTHING right now and are just enjoying watching us all suffer. Let’s not give them the satisfaction of pain but stand strong and believe in the STORY.

ParticipantYeah, the third season of Glee did it for me, too. When people ask about it, I tell them watch Season one. It’s brilliant and fantastic. But stop at the season finale and pretend the show is one season long. It makes life easier that way. I caught two episodes I think last year and realized I didn’t regret leaving it. Really, Santana/Quinn? I did watch the memorial episode this season and cried like a baby but it felt like the old show and haven’t been back.
I can see where you’re coming from with recasting. I used to watch soaps faithfully long ago so I was used to it and it doesn’t bother me as much. I see a lot of people saying they hate Neal because he’s nothing like Bae, but even casting someone else more Bae-like would get them to like his character.
Personally, I think MRJ was perfect. When you itemize down all the characters has been through all his life, it would be unrealistic to think he wasn’t changed. Just look at what your 14 year old self was like. And this is a man who was:
- Conscripted into the army as a teen
- Got out of it by dad getting an evil curse
- Abandoned by his father into a foreign world
- Separated from his adoptive family into another foreign world
- Learned his mother abandoned him too for a pirate
- Kidnapped for hundreds of years by his yet-to-be known of grandfather
- Went who knows where else [ *cough* Oz *cough* ]
- Back to the foreign world with unknown technology and social mores
- Falls in love and loses her so she can save her family and their old world
- Finds out he’s a father
- Betrayed by a fiancé who shoots him
- Son is kidnapped and he is captured yet again by the same person who had him for centuries
- Reunites with son and father only to have his father “dead” and his son with no memories living in another world yet again.
Give this man a cookie, a hug, anything he wants. And people expect him to be the same bright eyed child he was at 14 years old. 😐

Trauma victim. He’s a trauma victim. But he’s one that has made the best out of life. He never became cruel or mean or abusive. He stayed a good hearted man!

KeymasterJust saw the sneak peek.
So. we were right that she goes to Neal’s apartment on Hook’s say so and it causes her to semi-trust Hook. Henry’s camera is the other object? But at least that clears that up. Her first response is to ask about Neal. That’s hopeful. “I’m not here because of Neal.” But what happened to Neal? Does Hook know where he is?

KeymasterI’m not 100% convinced that Hook came before the Curse. It’s…too ambiguous for me right now.

Very interesting! I think the line “I’m not here because of Neal,” pretty much puts to bed the idea that Neal somehow sent Hook. It also confirms that Hook still sees Neal as a rival, rather than as friend or a son figure. I think that Hook came on his own, perhaps against the advice of Snow and Charming.
The next words out of Hook’s mouth, “I’m here because your parents are in trouble,” means that Hook is primarily concerned about getting Emma to remember so she can 1) save her parents and 2) give Hook all the credit for helping her. I know that might sound embittered a bit, but I still think Hook’s agenda isn’t just about wanting to save Charming or Snow. I think Hook wouldn’t think twice about them if he weren’t going to get anything out of it. But by being the one to get Emma to town, Hook probably figures he’ll earn the favor of Emma’s parents and the admiration and love of Emma for “getting her home,” which is actually something Neal did initially. This is going to be a very long half a season indeed.
“It will help you remember everything you lost,” says Hook. Does he realize that the person whom Emma has continually lost is Neal? Hmmm. I like the sounds of her remembering all that happened between her and Neal since “Manhattan.”
I also noticed that Emma again has to “take a leap of faith” and that mirrors what we were saying in S3a about how Emma, Neal and Henry all literally leapt off or out of objects: the boat, the cliff, the window.

KeymasterEverything you lost would include not on Neal himself but the memory how why he left. She’ll remember how he was trying to get her home. but I agree. This is going to be a long first couple of episode.

KeymasterSo Neal and Belle for sure go off on their own. I’m not thrilled. I like the idea in principle but to me it screams that Neal is listening to Snow and Charming and I’m worried now. Like super worried.

Keymasterwell the article does say that Nealfire finds an ally in Belle. Maybe Belle tells him to fight and the best way to do that is to find Rumple. I don’t know! And why is it “complicated” why the task to get Emma is laid on Hook?
