How many times…YES we’re upset about THE ACTUAL DEATH but MORE upset about the WAY he died and the complete character assinssination that came with out. Everyone trying to justify his death and I’m just like, “I would have been okay if he died for real in 221 or if his death had meant something in 315”
It’s not the actual death…it’s the way it was done.

I’m getting sick of repeating myself too to everyone. They have no idea. They chalk it up to immaturity or a ship or just unable to handle death and don’t even try to understand.

I’ve never actually been a fan of a show that uhm… progresses the way this show has, so this is all quite new to me. Like character development for example. Really how far has Emma come in her inability to deal with emotions? She’s still as closed up about it as she was back in the first ep of season 1. And then Neal’s contradictory actions. His whole life he’s been saying magic is bad and it ruins things, but suddenly he’s very ok with using the darkest of magics without so much as a second thought. I’ve never seen such things in a tv series before.

One of my coworkers is more of a casual OUAT viewer (she’s been off and on all season, but has always followed the episode recaps online), but Neal was one of her least favourite characters. The glee on her face today while I was trying not to break down while talking about his death made this awful pit in my stomach. I wish everyone could have understood Neal like we did, like we still do. The reactions of people outside of this thread make me so sad.
Also, this is making me write fanfic. I have never written a fanfic before. This could be terrible.

I’m beginning to think that too. Regina and Rumple have been on quite a journey in their road to redemption after all. Maybe Neal’s death will spark something in Emma? In that scene with Henry she did open up and got quite passionate about making whoever was responsible for Neal’s death pay dearly.
