In “Tallahassee” August asks Neal “Do you believe in Magic?”
That’s the title of a song originally by ‘Lovin’ Spoonful’ which was featured in the film “Return to Neverland”.
Just as there is a Grateful Dead song, written about the real Neal Cassady, “The Other One”….that song references Neverland also.
Music has as much influence as the mythology, classic literature/films, etc when it comes to K&H.
It did with LOST, too.LOST is where the fictional band Geronimo Jackson, which is based on The Grateful Dead, originated.
Neal has a Geronimo Jackson sticker on his ipod, Emma has one on her car and Henry had a CD in his backpack.P.S. –
I know I posted most of this, at TheGoldenKey’s request, in her theory, I just wanted to summerize it here for reference sake 🙂[adrotate group="5"]February 13, 2013 at 1:33 am #172855MysteryKat25ParticipantI’ve been 100% behind the Bae is Neal is Peter Pan theory from the beginning. Loving seeing all these details (haven’t had a chance to read through all the pages lately) but I just wanted to say for all those who think it’s impossible because of the land without magic thing…
Peter Pan is one of those characters (like Alice, the Wizard from Wizard of Oz, etc) that STARTED in our world (aka “a land without magic”) and ended up in another world, before returning to our world. So technically Bae could have landed in our world somewhere, spent centuries in Neverland as either Peter or a Lost Boy, thus staying 14 for a long time, and then was either visiting our world (just like Peter often did…) or was in our world for some special reason or another when the curse was enacted, thus keeping him here, where he aged right along with Emma and August, etc etc.
So it is entirely possible that both what we know from the show (Bae being sent to a land without magic) and the traditional story of Peter Pan can coexist. It would also explain the time gap of centuries for Bae because Rumple is centuries old but he enacted the curse to get to the time and place that Bae ended up. Also since Bae was sent “through time and space” he could have landed here at any point in time, so who knows how long he stayed wherever, but Neverland would explain so much and how many times has been referred to as a “lost boy.”
It would also make some very interesting drama with the already complicated Rumple-Hook situation. Just my cents that nothing has officially ruled this out, most especially not “a land without magic” as Peter started out here too. There’s more ways to Neverland than just a magic bean 😉

I agree with this. I mean this theory makes much more sense then the “curse travelling through time theory”

My thought is with Milah leaving Bae at such a early age and him having the fallout with his father, a mother’s love would be something he’d desperately want.

You were right all along! Glad I could be of some help 🙂 I've loved your theory since you first mentioned it to me last year 🙂 Good job!

Just seeing Manhattan made me wonder something. Bae’s hate for Rumpel is strong, and he also fears his magic. Rumpel might have been an asshole as the Dark One, but he was a good dad. So why would Bae just have bad memories of him.(or nearly all bad) unless someone was feeding them to him.
What if Hook acted as a dad to him… He is Milah’s son, after all. And it would be the ideal opportunity to fill him with hate towards his father. “Your mom killed your dad” is a pretty ideal way to do that. He joins the pirates to travel between lands and one day gets left behind.February 18, 2013 at 9:14 am #173996PheeParticipant@SpinningGold wrote:

The bad was pretty bad, and it’s what led to the destruction of their relationship, so I can buy that those memories would override memories of the good years.

This is one of the reasons I’ve been hoping that Bae was in Neverland, to see how Hook would relate to Milah’s son. Would he tell him about his father killing his mother? Or would he not want to lay that sort of torment on the kid? We’ve seen that he couldn’t destroy the shawl, because it was something Milah had made. Well, Milah made Bae too, that kid was part of her, so would Hook seek to destroy him? Or would he get to know him and nurture a friendship with him, so he could keep part of Milah in his life? Judging by his handling of the shawl, which was merely a piece of fabric she’d touched, I would imagine that Hook wouldn’t be able to bring himself to intentionally harm a kid who shared her blood.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that Bae didn’t find out about Rumple killing Milah though. Everyone on Hook’s crew knew what happened to her, so if Bae was hanging out around them in Neverland, chances are someone let it slip, even if Hook didn’t tell him directly.

I agree. Don’t forget, there’s a gap of time between when Rumple became the dark one and when he lost Bae. It probably wasn’t too long, but long enough for Bae to have plenty of bad memories of the dark one’s evil deeds. Hook also says “what makes you think his son wants to be found? do that boy a favor”, which also hints that he and Bae have already met and is well aware that he’s trying to avoid reuniting with his father.
February 18, 2013 at 9:38 am #174002spinninggoldParticipantJust so you know where I was coming from: I don’t know if any of you ever saw “Hook” where Robin Williams is an all grown up Peter Pan and forgot about his past. Hook escapes Neverland to kidnap his kids, and tries to set them up against their dad, trying to convince them how bad their father is as the ultimate revenge against Pan.
February 18, 2013 at 10:10 am #174009PheeParticipantThe Hook in that movie hadn’t been in love with Peter Pan’s mother though. Those emotions would influence our Hook’s judgement and actions.
