I agree with Nonnie…
Everyone keeps refering to Emma as the savior…and Rumple was going crazy demanding to know the babies name. I think he knew he was going to get locked up by signing that deal with cinderella and his wholoe intent was to get Emma’s name and get her to safety so that she could be the ticket to get to Baelfire. I think that Rumple/Mr. Gold knows Bae wont come for him…but he will come for his son. I think Rumple could see all of that…remember he wasn’t as powerful at first when he became the dark one…but over time his power grew and I think he knew exactly what he was doing…that man makes no move without a plan that he knows the outcome to.

Sorry I meant that his power grew from when he first became the Dark One until he cast the curse. The Blue Fairy told him he wasn’t powerful enough to go find Baelfire…He told her not yet but he would become more powerful and all he had was time to make it happen. Looks to me like he kept that promise. He said himself that he knew there was no power in this world which is why Bae chose it…I don’t think his powers have grown here at all…a fact I think Rumple/Mr. Gold likes.
I think that Rumple knew the future because of his powers and intentionally put himself and everyone from FTL in the land that Bae went to… and I think he knew that Bae and Emma would cross paths…total speculation but I think that Bae is Henry’s father at this point at that Rumple knew all along this is what would happen…he knew that Henry would go find Emma…who knows maybe he even put the idea in Henry’s head. And he knew that Emma would maybe need the playing card of bringing in Henry’s father in order to get custody of him… we shall see how it all plays out.

I think that he was able to get more stuff by making people afraid of him with his power and by doing his bad deals with people.

I think Mother Superior remembers and I think she orchestrated Emma and Bae crossing paths to throw a curve ball at Gold because she doesn’t trust what he will choose to do with his power.
I think one of the purposes of the Blue Fairy on the show is to point out that Good and Bad is all a matter of reference point. Kind of like observing the Good Witch and the Bad Witch in the Wizard of Oz and then going to see Wicked on Broadway. Same characters – totally different point of view.
Sometimes the Blue Fairy does things that make sense and sometimes she does things that baffle me and seem downright mean. I think she is just like Rumple in a lot of ways, only we have been conditioned to look at her from a “good” point of view. But if her goal is for “good” to prevail – she is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen, even if she has to do something hurtful along the way.
I think when she realized that Rumple had found a way to enact the curse she managed to get Emma and Bae together but then found a way to pull them apart before Bae knew that Emma was pregnant. She wouldn’t care if it appeared to Emma that Bae was a loser – she just cares about the end game.
I also think we have been underestimating her own quest for spot #1 on the most powerful list. In the Dreamy episode, I thought she was just being condescending to Nova when she laughed at her when Nova said she wanted to be a Fairy Godmother. Now I think she was trying to lower her self-esteem to make sure she didn’t become a more powerful fairy than she is.

I would also say that he became more powerful because he became more experienced in making deals with people. I think he became extremely good at reading people and giving them what they wanted. Because of this, his reputation of being able to deliver what people wanted grew which made him an extremely powerful person – he could ask for whatever he wanted and people would give it to him. Over time I’m sure he also became more knowledgable of magic in general – since he was hundreds of years old he had plenty of time to try to figure out spells and such.

I read in a forum that Baelfire’s name seems to be related to the term: bonfire…so fire=fireman ¿Wasnt Henry’s Dad a fireman? 😆 I think this could be: “pulling a Rumple” and seeing what i want to see ..instead of what is in front of me 😛 But this theory is really good…and I would adore for Bae to be Emma’s baby daddy! Imagine the akward/amazing family reunions: Gold; Emma; Bae; Henry, Snow& Charming <3 lolz...
Wasn´t there a spoiler where the writers said Henry’s father was really important to the whole story from its origin?
April 24, 2012 at 4:19 am #143604king arthurParticipantI sent this theory to OncePodcast regarding Bae being the Wizard of Oz and Henry’s father.
Bae was transported through the green vortex to a different realm, possibly Oz and actually became the Wizard of Oz. This would be one of those twists that OUaT writers like to throw in. Bae was trying to escape magic but ends up as the Wizard with kind of “magic”. Time could pass differently in this other realm in relation to both SB and FTL, accounting for why Bae has not yet died while Rumple is hundreds of years old.
My thinking that Bae is in Oz is because it is possible to view other realms when in Oz, based on the Wicked Witch having shown Dorothy her Aunt Em (in the movie version). Perhaps Bae has been able to follow Rumple distantly and knows that his father has been putting together the curse for purposes of trying to reunite with Bae. Bae even knows that Emma is the key to breaking the curse.
Eventual Bae finds a way to our world (maybe helped by Dorothy). He comes to try to protect Emma and ends up in an intimate relation with her, and Henry is conceived. For some reason, Bae in unable to remain in our world and must return to Oz. Emma thinks he has run out on her, she goes on to have her baby in jail. Likely Bae is working with August as the green phone Auguat is using @ beginning of The Return sure looks as if it could be a hotline to Oz (or he was calling Batman :D).
For fans of The Terminator: This is a little akin to John Connor sending a protector into the past for his mother (Sarah Connor) with the protector actually becoming the father of Sarah Conner’s child. Sarah Conner gave birth to her child in a jail/asylum and the child was placed into foster care much like Henry was adopted by the Mayor. I also see much of Sarah Connor’s tough fighting spirit in Emma. And in The Terminator series, Sarah Connor had to prepare her son and others for the “Final Battle” against the machines. Kind of like Emma will lead the Final Battle against the EQ.

I really like that theory about Baelfire’s name being related to Henry’s Dad being a fireman. It would also shadow back to the fact that when Rumple first went to get the cursed dagger, he set the castle on fire. And then also the fire he set in the Mayor’s office to help Emma get elected. It would be fitting that Bae (as Henry’s dad) has metaphorically been trying to put out the fire that Rumple started.
The funny thing that keeps going through my head if these theories are true is the picture of the Charming family and Rumplestiltskin family gathered together for Thanksgiving dinner after the curse is broken and everyone is reunited. Hehehe! LOL! 😀

I love this theory! I have a soft spot for the Wizard of Oz theories, and I’m also beginning to think that Baelfire is Henry’s father. Hopefully, one of the two will be correct. 😉
