It’s definitely not just you Lissy. I’m not sure if I entirely buy it, but I had the exact same thought.
I think it’s because he’s the first person we’ve come across who it would make sense for Emma to have run into outside of Storybrooke but related to the Fairytale world.
My problem is that Emma talks about him as if he’s not a good guy, and while he is Rumpelstiltskin’s son, that doesn’t seem to match up with what we’ve seen of Bae so far. Then again, maybe losing his father and ending up somewhere magic-less (we assume our world) changed him, or maybe Emma’s perspective is not an objective one.
It certainly would be meaningful and kinda neat if Henry is descended from Snow/Charming/Emma on one side, the adoptive son (and step-great nephew or whatever it is) of Regina and descended from Rumple on his father’s side though.[adrotate group="5"]April 24, 2012 at 6:54 am #143633Daniel J. The Charmings and Rumpel will be…*GULP*…Family. 😯 😯 😯 I would actually pay hard money to see that show. 😆
I agree about Emma’s perspective. Every now and again, Emma’s judgement seems to be a little off. Her advice about one-night stands to MM, her trusting of both Mr. Gold and Sydney. Besides, she met Henry’s father when she was very young and probably in a very bad emotional place. She probably viewed the hold world as the enemy. And also, Emma told either Henry or Regina that the father doesn’t know about Henry. So, it sounds like she kept Henry’s existence from him. So, she probably doesn’t even know if he would have been a good father.
But then again, like you said, Bae losing his father and being thrown into an entirely different world could have screwed him up pretty bad.

The big glitch for me is if Mr Gold deliberately procured Henry for Regina because he was Emma’s son, then surely he’d have known who the kid’s father was too, right? But he’s certainly never acted as though he feels that Henry is his grandson.
Also not sure I like the idea of them turning sweet Bae into the guy Emma has painted as being kind of horrible, though it’s true her perspective of the situation may have been off, or what happened to him may have changed him.

I think when she realized that Rumple had found a way to enact the curse she managed to get Emma and Bae together but then found a way to pull them apart before Bae knew that Emma was pregnant. She wouldn’t care if it appeared to Emma that Bae was a loser – she just cares about the end game.
This theory makes me buy into the possibility of it. Could certainly believe it if Blue Fairy interfered somehow to set it all up.
The other big glitch is the age/time issue of course, and we don’t even know yet where Bae ended up when he went into the ground, so he may not even be in our world.
I can see this becoming the next BIG debate once we have August’s identity resolved. 😉

The age is obvious. we do not know where he is. evryone wants this to happen why??? and based on what??? matching timelines and no confirmation where he is??? Did he shoot JFK too??? There is nothing to support that theory yet.

All we know is that Bae went to a place with no magic- the Blue Fairy sent him through time and space she said, so it’s possible he went to the modern era in our world. Having him be Henry’s father would connect him back to Storybrooke giving him a reason to show up again. I’m not entirely convinced, but it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

It’s all just fun speculation. It would be nice if it were to happen though. I’d like for Baelfire to be brought back into the story in a significant way.
My main reasoning for believing it may be true:
-Baelfire landed in our world before the curse took effect. This means that he was outside of the curse, like Emma.
-The Blue Fairy called the green vortex a “time hole.” This might place the age and timeline discrepency back on track.
-Emma said that Henry’s father was older than her. If Baelfire landed in our world right before the curse took effect, then he would definitely be older than her.
-Emma also said that Henry’s father was a fireman. Maybe this a play on Baelfire’s name. The names in Storybrooke always play on the identities of their fairytale counterparts.
-Mr. Gold: Because he spun gold back in fairytale land,
-Regina Mills: Because she is the daughter of the original millers daughter,
-Mary Margaret: This is the alias she gave Red in “Red Handed.”
So, names and certain personal attributes play a big role in this show.-It would also explain why Emma has platinum blonde hair while Henry’s hair is almost black. 😆

I am aware that there are many great theories going around with solid evidence, however, I can’t help but to think it could make an interesting plot line. The writes did mention Henry’s father wouldn’t be just some random guy. Plus, Bae would be about Emma’s age. I’m not saying this idea is any where close to being right, but I would enjoy the twist! Do you think I’m crazy?
Um, no offence, but if Bae didn’t travel in time, he’d be dead.

I’ve been expecting Henry’s father to be Bae but not August somehow and now that we know Bae went “somewhere without any magic,” it makes sense Bae might have been sent to Earth. You have to wonder what the calendar date was and if he marked that day to return every year or if he lived as a hermit under the bridge near the location and one day, discovered Emma (if she came through the same portal). What went on up to the time Henry was born, is up for interpretation but I like the story if it does pull Bae back in and then that ties Rumple to Bae to Emma to Henry. Grampastiltskin?? Oh boy.
Mr. Gold’s “favor” of Emma may be “run the dagger through my heart” (thus making her the Darkness – if magic even works) – or – it may simply be to BELIEVE and kiss Bae/Henry (thus breaking the Curse and living Happily Ever After – orrrr- giving Rumple back his evil magic, if he hasn’t transformed his heart). My, my, my. So many delicious options.
Of course, Bae doesn’t have to discover Emma for him to be Henry’s Father. I do like the connection, though.

But he did travel in time. The Blue Fairy said that the green vortex was a “time hole.” 😉
April 24, 2012 at 6:29 pm #143720hjbauParticipantHenry’s hair seems to be a middle brown to me. It really isn’t even that dark of a brown. Bae’s is dark brown.
