Well, they’re both orphans… There are a lot of orphans in this show, not just Emma and Bae d: Calm your teets, guys.

😥 That’s a pretty harsh reality. And from what we’ve seen of ‘Neal’s’ life in episode 1, seems like he’s made the same conclusion.
“They were definitely kindred spirits,” Morrison says. “There was a reason that she was so drawn to him and him to her. They had to survive to make life OK. There’s an interesting parallel for them that they both are on their own in this world and have had to find inventive ways to make life OK.”
There seem to be a lot of parallels – and with how we find them living their lives in episode 1 of season 1 and 2. If they also have the connection of ‘reason for curse’ and ‘curse-breaker’ – feels like it could work out as well.
I’m in the microscopic minority that thinks this is Jack (the casting call fits into the time frame of MRJ being cast), he’s described as a ‘thief’, Emma mentioned Jack’s story in the 3rd sneak peek as him having either a golden goose or golden harp – he apparently had a golden swan and a yellow bug…I don’t think the Jack story line is going to actually be dealing with giants but more the metaphoric kind. Really rooting for Jack to be Baelfire and his experience in coming over to our world alone – what he had to do to survive.
Oh, and THIS IS SO BAELFIRE!
We may not have confirmation until we start seeing his ‘Henry’s dad’ storyline play out a bit, deal with villains but I’m guessing we’ll know sometime after the mid-season break that he is both Baelfire and Henry’s dad.

Agreed. I want to know if he chose Neal Cassady because of some of the Peter Pan themes that are associated with the real Neal Cassady, as Gypsy pointed out a few pages ago.
Speaking of Emma: how did she get the last name Swan??"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 3, 2012 at 3:25 pm #159244PheeParticipant@Lil’Red wrote:

That’s a cool little connection! 😉 I agree that the casting call for Jack was for Neal. Still think we may get the actual Jack and the Beanstalk story at some point though, whether it’s this character, or some separate character who is actually named Jack. Apparently Jorge Garcia has been given notice that he’ll be in another ep, and I think that’ll likely be the actual Jack and the Beanstalk story ep.
November 3, 2012 at 3:26 pm #159245hjbauParticipantJennifer said in an interview that Swan was the name of her first family, the one that kept her for three years until they had a kid of their own and gave her up. Let me look for the link. Though that is not show canon as of yet, so they can do something different if they really want.
Wait i found the link.

At about 1:20.
November 3, 2012 at 3:37 pm #159247hjbauParticipantI forgot how interesting that interview is. She talked about Swans with a gold or silver link around their neck the symbolizing the unity between divinity and humanity, and she extrapolated to mean take the unity between the fairytale land and the real world. Interesting.
I wonder of her golden ring necklace has to do with that. It would make sense.
November 3, 2012 at 4:32 pm #159253tiara_roseParticipantI always thought that Swan is from the fairy tale “Ugly Duck”, where a baby-swan hatch out at the nest from the ducks. They didn’t like the baby, because she doesn’t look and act like them and finds later his real family.
Heros don't get their Happy Ending!
November 3, 2012 at 4:43 pm #159254hjbauParticipantI think that is true as well tiara. That that is the reason the writers chose the name. The transformation from ugly ducking to Swan, Emma sort of being the odd person out, the non believer who becomes believer, the orphan who is really a princess, and so on and so forth.
Just in the show the logic of where the name came from, being from her first foster family.
November 3, 2012 at 6:43 pm #159257RumplesGirlKeymasterInteresting interview, I’ve never seen it before. Thanks HJ.
Yay Jorge being another episode! I love him.
