ParticipantI really don’t think we’ll see The Jolly Roger again. I think if we do it again, most likely, it’ll be in flashback only and actually, I’d prefer it that way. Killian trading the Roger, his home (that held good and bad memories for him but was still his home) to get Emma back to hers, is so incredibly significant…I feel like if he gets the ship again, it’ll lessen his sacrifice.
But it’s okay if we see the ship in flashback. Still, I don’t think we will anymore. That part of his life, the one filled of pain and regret – it’s over. And Killian’s starting a new life with Emma.

ParticipantI certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of The Jolly Roger, the dramatic possibilities would be quite promising…
I hope it comes back at some point too, although I have my doubts…maybe they’ll need an enchanted ship for something. Or maybe whoever he traded it to is someone important and we’ll find out the details of that story. Maybe it was the Black Fairy! I mean, if anyone would turn up with some magic beans when there supposedly aren’t any more, it would be the elusive Black Fairy. (Okay, probably not, but she has to show up sometime!)
There is always the risk of ONCE being the Disney-fied version of *Thrones* and start killing everyone off. That is what happens when you have so much story to tell and not quite enough time to tell it with the ADD of today’s audience.
Oh goodness, I hope not; I don’t need another show where I constantly have to worry about my favorite characters getting killed off! Not that I see that happening. Although even if it did, after that lovely promo from ABC, *briefly stops typing to stare at said promo again* I’m thinking at least one of our favorite characters is safe for the time being… 😉

I agree, I don’t think we’ll see the JR – and I’m ok with that…! I loved that Killy traded his ship to get back to Emma. So as much as I like the JR and the role it plays in Hook’s life, I’m happy to see it gone, because it shows that Killian literally sacrificed everything for Emma. It would be interesting to see Emma try to get the JR back, but I don’t think I’d want that either. I’d rather they focus on making their home together, regardless of where they are.

It would be more than interesting! It would be the ultimate gesture of love from Emma to Hook. Bringing The Jolly Roger back wouldn’t negate or diminish Hook’s sacrifice. That has already been validated and embraced by Emma. Having Emma help him get the ship back would solidify Emma’s self-less love for Hook. While I certainly understand the need for creating a new *space* together, The Jolly Roger has been re-created before, and could be again…with Henry included.
I am in the *Accepting it because* camp of fandom, because there is absolutely nothing I can do about any part of any script and I will never have control over anything, ever (grin). They will write what they want to write. BUT, all things considered it would add seriously to the balance of their relationship if Emma would step up and do something that would make Hook’s soul fuller. Not that she OWES him anything because he gave his life/heart/devotion/love willingly and openly. But it would be very cool.

ParticipantI think A&E used JR as a metaphor of Hook’s old life and old life style his pirate days and dark days and he when he trade the JR for getting back Emma he didn’t gave up his ship but his whole past and who he was for a chance with Emma and most importantly , for Emma. So now that we say bye bye to that Hook i don’t we will likely too see JR any soon but i would like too see that Hook buys a little boat or yacht or something like that i don’t wanna see Hook losing the sailor side of him plus he can go romantic trips or getaways with Emma with a yacht

ParticipantYou all may well be right. Part of the revenge driven, booze soaked, tortured soul will be gone forever. And it is a healthy nod to the maturing of his character that he is beyond that. But I sincerely hope we never lose “the helluva Captain” Hook OR his tremendously rapscallion ways. Not for Emma…not for anyone (grin)

I agree with that…I was going to say something to that effect in my last post, but I know pretty much nothing about boats of any kind so I left that out for fear of sounding like an idiot, haha. But I think a newer ship/boat/vessel could be another fun example of Hook clashing with modern stuff.

This too. 😉

I agree and it is a healthy development for him to let go of that part of his life and move on. Clinging to the past on this show has never done anyone good; it’s only dragged then down.
That’s why it was so important for Emma to realize that clinging to the past and Neal wasn’t healthy (Ariel).

ParticipantI don’t think Hook has completely given up the pirate side of himself. He didn’t just give up the JR for Emma, he gave it up for himself as well because HE WANTED to get Emma home.
All magic comes with a price!
