Okay, I don’t know whether that’s more funny or sad! No, actually I’m going with funny, but it IS a little sad how much they’re grasping at straws in an effort to denigrate Hook. And even if they wanted to show a strip club (which they don’t), I don’t think they could if they want to keep the PG rating. Here was my response to that
As Emma would say: Really? The bar Hook was coming out of was the Rabbit Hole. Not a strip joint. Ladies Night just means they’ve got a special promotion on, probably that ladies get cheap drinks if they go to the Rabbit Hole on that night. I know Hook gets a lot of hate from some members of the Neal/SF faction for various reasons, but this one is just stupid. Hook literally just came out of a door, watched Elsa walk by, whist stood by a sign that said “Ladies Night” yet apparently that automatically means he was at a strip club. Seriously? Hate him all you want but a least ground your hate in fact and truth rather than making stuff up just to try and make the character look bad.
Ok…I’m sorry but that’s just….sad. This person is either 1) 12, and therefore way to young to go to a bar, 2) never leaves the house or 3) not American and has never engaged in American culture other than OUAT. (too harsh?)
If you’re going to dislike a character, fine. Dislike them. But before posting comments and opinions for the world to see, think it through! I beg you! If y0u even watch the show a little, you know that’s probably the Rabbit Hole, the only bar in town. (Shocker, a pirate in a bar??) And Ladies Night? That’s a staple in American bar culture. Actually…the idea of Hook leaving the bar after Ladies Night is what makes me laugh! Especially after the Jolly Roger when it was SHOWN point blank that Hook no longer even looked at another woman much less ‘engaged’ with one…can you see poor irritated Hook just wanting to go to the local watering hole to get a drink and he’s stuck at a Ladies’ Night? With all the hammered girls drinking for 1/2 price and the guys hitting on said drunk girls? Now that is funny. Good lil joke, A&E!

Haha, @Bo-Peeps, I did! And I think your option is the best! What silliness. There is a blog on Tumblr that is far more anti-Neal than I could ever be (I really don’t dislike him, he’s just not the right choice for Emma…and he’s kind of a doof) but it’s hilarious because it finds the most ridiculous of the ridiculous anti-Hook/CS arguments and blows them out of the water, I can’t help but read and get a good chuckle (Zumpie). I have to check out those essays from Screwball Ninja; although I don’t agree 100% with her, she tends to make some very excellent points and observations. 26 days until we can make new observations!
@surayya–I got my S3 Blu-Ray recently and I think I watched all of the special features, and I didn’t see that anywhere. I saw it earlier today though and it was pretty cute, although I couldn’t quite understand what they were saying.

Careful reading the Hook one, 1 it is entirely dedicated to proving Hook’s a villain & not a gentleman, when it is a fact that Hook was never intended to be, nor played as an actual “Villain”.
I found only a few points that she made had any foundation in fact & show context, the rest was a mix of pretty much ignoring context & interviews that laid out what happened & why in favor of her own (unflattering) opinion of what his motives/intention were, other points she makes earlier on are then contradicted by her later points making them invalid- yet they werent edited out & some of her points have since been disproven with stuff that happened in S3.
I could go through that whole meta & disprove with canon fact & my own opinion/interpretations on context, pretty much every point that she’s made, I could also turn some of her points inside out- since she has stated her own interpretation of peoples motives & context as key points in why Killian is a villain 😉

Point being that it truly doesn’t matter what ANYONE thinks about any character, if you enjoy a character and find others who feel the same, and can share that joy with them, then others’ opinions don’t mean squat in the scheme of things. (Grin)
That is true for any character, dead or alive, gone or very present.
Obviously, personal preferences and opinions aside, the main cause of negative message board crap is that some posters can’t avoid trying to aggressively ruin other peoples’ enjoyment by creating nothing but ignorant BS about a character they don’t like. Truth or common sense doesn’t matter, only trying to blame and accuse and denigrate other fans or the characters they enjoy becomes the main reason for even existing in a fandom.
In the cases where people can’t see beyond that particularly ugly, moronic mentality, rational discussion is rather pointless. You can’t joke around or even empathize with them without the petty blabbering entering the discussion.
I adore Hook. I embrace the gorgeous and not so gorgeous about his character. He entertains the heck out of Sunday nights (and DVR repeats) for me.
When I can find others who embrace him in the same spirit, and can, with intelligence and wit and friendly sensibilities, debate about the character’s intricacies, quirks, flaws…it’s massive fun. Visual and verbal, the Hook followers make me smile.
Otherwise, ya know, I don’t give a p*ss.
