ParticipantJust curious, what do you guys thinks of Emma’s frozen poster?

I’ll be honest, I was not expecting the Swan necklace. I thought Emma’s poster would be her yellow bug. The swan necklace, I feel doesn’t really make sense for Emma’s character now. I mean, when she met Neal again in Manhattan, it did not symbolize true love to her. But a reminder not to trust anyone again.
But that’s not Emma now. She trusts Hook, she’s more open to love than she was in season 2 and season one. I don’t know, seeing the swan necklace for her frozen poster feels like a step back rather than a step forward.

Participant@obisgirl I though it would be the yellow bug too 🙂 I don’t really think they used the necklace for any reason other than it has a swan on it. It also could be because we’re supposed to be getting more answers to her past this season, and it is symbolic of her life before she came to SB.

ParticipantI don’t agree. Emma did not have the swan necklace her whole life. She only got it during her time with Neal. The necklace is symbolic of that period of her life. But I guess if ABC needed something to tell us we’re going to get more orphan Emma
backstory,
that’s probably the closest they could get. But still, I don’t like it.

Participant@obisgirl it may only have been symbolic of a small portion of her life, but it does represent the trust/abandonment issues that she’s carried with her all of her life. The bug is also symbolic of her time with Neal. Could they have used the red jacket (armour)? But that wouldn’t have made as much of a statement on the promo posters as the Swan does. What other tokens represent who Emma is?

ParticipantI thought maybe her yellow bug would be used. Her red jacket would have an interesting prop to use as well.
Now, what would be funny is if when the season starts, Emma doesn’t wear the Swan necklace at all. If she doesn’t, I’m fine with that because it means she’s open to trusting again. And she’s done holding onto past issues.

ParticipantI think Emma’s poster featured the swan necklace just because it is an item closely associated with her. The majority of the posters featured portable items and for the style of poster, the swan necklace wouyuld look much better than Emma’s car.
All magic comes with a price!

ParticipantI actually think the swan necklace is most apropos of all possible objects here. The necklace – from Emma’s point of view – symbolized love, then symbolized her distrust and refusal to love, and then she realized she could accept and even embrace her past instead of being stuck in and stunted by it. I think she put the necklace on again after Neal died, not just to honor him as the father of her child and a significant part of her past, but to symbolize the work Emma had done to overcome that past and move forward.
So while some, I’m sure, are going to grab onto the necklace and say it has to do directly with Neal, her TL, blah blah blah, I think at this point the necklace has very little to do with Neal and everything to do with the person Emma has become since then.

ParticipantAs far as posters go, I wonder if they chose items that represents the most frozen parts of themselves-Killian’s is his pirate/Hook persona, Emma is her deep trust issues.
I dont have a problem with it tbh. The bug hasnt really been around much last season & a necklace still allows for some fantasy element- harder to do with a car IMO & you dont want general audience thinking it’s frozen Herbie 😉
