ParticipantI guess one of the problems is the timing…like, I watched the finale again less than a week ago, and I know that on the show it’s supposed to be the next day, so it seemed weird for him to be all “are you avoiding me?” when it’s been less than 24 hours.
I thought he said that purely in terms of her reaction there and then. He said his piece, then she pretty much turned around and ignored him. He obviously wanted to talk about last night’s events, but she didn’t, hence the “are you avoiding me?” And she (I assume) had given him the check out the mausoleum job to avoid ‘the talk’ too. That’s my take on it anyway 🙂

Hmm, I like that interpretation much better! 😀 I’ll definitely keep that one in mind when I rewatch this episode, which I will have to do soon since I was interrupted at like 8:55, much to my chagrin. Okay, so I probably would’ve rewatched it anyway but that’s not the point…

ParticipantHi all! So excited the show is back again! This is the first time I watched the show from our new home in Tampa – although I had to watch on Hulu because we were actually Disney World for my son’s 13th birthday on Sunday night.
As usual loved the show. I actually really liked the Regina stuff because I felt like they did a good job showing how far she has come and how confused and messed up she is right now – Frozen parallels all around!! Like she started to throw a spell at Marian at Granny’s but stopped herself, she was shocked when Sidney thought she would want to kill someone as the person she is NOW, when she thought she could go back in time and have her “old self” kill Marian she realized that everything Marian said about her “old self” was right and she couldn’t even go through with killing her in the past, she was going to let the snow monster kill her but she has developed a conscience and couldn’t even do that. So in the end all she could do was welcome Marian to Storybrooke. But even though she knows she has changed, she STILL sees herself as a villain. This is where I think things are totally different between Regina/Gold and Hook. Hook realizes that his choices are what determines whether he is a villain or not – so since he has decided to make the right choices he knows he isn’t a villain. Regina thinks she just IS a villain – hence the reason she has decided she needs to find the author of the book, thinking she can make the author give her a happy ending. I am wondering if there will be some kind of Frozen parallel where REGINA will instinctively perform an act of true love that will her understand that she is no longer a villain and that she is really the one who writes her own story. Just like Emma and Hook ended up in the book because of their actions.
And I LOVED the scene with Regina and Emma and the door – so cute!!!!
But on to the best . . .CS!! Loved it ALL. I thought it was totally realistic. I didn’t think Killian was whiney – historically he calls Emma out on her crap, now that they know how they feel about each other I think he is just more confident about it. I don’t think he was at all surprised that she was avoiding him – he knows her well enough that he was most likely expecting it and he also knows her well enough to know it is in her best interest to call her on it as soon as possible. So that’s exactly what he did. That is what I love about the two of them. Hook CAN read her like an open book and she knows it and it used to frustrate her but she has always RESPONDED well to it, even when it scared her. The best part about this episode is that now she looks at it as an endearing quality and she EXPECTS it of him – she smiles and tells him “I know I am” when he tells that she is avoiding him again in the woods. He really only wanted her to acknowledge that she WAS doing it, the kiss was a bonus! But he is perceptive and realized that there is something else going on besides her guilt over Regina – as usual, he doesn’t push her – he is going to let her decide when she is ready to tell him what is wrong but he made sure that she knew he IS aware there is some kind of issue that they are going to eventually have to deal with, but he will patient. But he IS concerned that with the way their lives are because of the constant danger, that it might one day be too late – which I think is a very valid concern, but he didn’t say that when Emma could hear because he didn’t want to pressure her.
I liked all the Frozen stuff – Elsa and Anna are spot on. I know some people are bothered because the Frozen characters look just like the movie when the other OUaT characters don’t and they think A and E have sold out to the network yada, yada, yada. Personally I thought it was really cool how they looked and acted so similar – maybe it’s because the movie is so recent but for some reason it does make more sense to me that the Frozen characters look like the characters from the movie. The plot is obviously going to deviate just like the other fairy tale stories.
And I thought the Rumbelle dance was really sweet. I can’t wait to find out what is going on with Gold and the Sorcerer’s hat!

ParticipantHey @Rumplegoldfan is back!!! *waves hi*
New Real Husbands of Storybrooke is out. Enjoy 🙂
I don’t know how you can manage to stay away from that either, Emma. I’d be all over that 😉

ParticipantIn regard to the ‘are you avoiding me line’ I actually got the feeling he was waiting for the next part of the Regina-plan, and wasn’t really focused on dealing with the previous night’s kiss – until she gave him an ‘ok’ and kept walking. Emma’s the leader – she always gives direction, so when she doesn’t….well, something’s up! So I think Emma walked into that one all on her own! I think we might see quite a bit of passive-aggressive behavior as Emma tries to find her footing, which could be very interesting. It forces Killian to be the leader when it comes to their relationship, something they both really need to have happen.
I actually found myself liking the Frozen stuff a lot – and I wasn’t particularly impressed with the movie. I LOVE Anna – I hope that comedic timing she brings to the role continues, the show needs it.
HA!!! So very true, Grumpy! So very true.

Oh that’s a good point about Killian becoming a leader/equal in their relationship. You’re right, it’s always been Emma in charge. And I think that’s why I liked their dynamic in this episode, b/c he actually was becoming a leader in their little hero group too, not just Emma’s lackey.

ParticipantI agree with Jenna. Hook (as he did in comforting her when she watched Snow burn) is her strength, is a safe haven for her vulnerabilities…and that does need to happen so that she is no longer afraid of it.
Emma, in all her solitary stoicism and (some would say stubborn) strength, needs challenged. She already knows to what ends Killian will go for her. She already has made a physical mini-commitment to him (no, Emma, it was not just a kiss and never has been JUST a kiss) He is not going anywhere and he has been patient. Whatever she is going to reveal about her past is not going to be about being afraid of being hurt again. Neal already put her through that crappy torment and she grew passed him rather easily.
I feel it might be (ala a parallel to Elsa since they are heading in those directions) that she is afraid she might hurt HIM, physically somehow with the magic that she has always had, but hidden even deeper behind those emotional walls.
She has lost quite a bit of her snark with him, all those faux- cutting remarks meant to keep him at arms distance. Which he read well and understood.

ParticipantJust to add to Bo-Peeps, I think it was mentioned on the DVD commentary (not sure) that the last three blokes Emma has been serious about have all died, that’s got to slightly mess you up for future relationships.
