ParticipantHonestly?
What a holy mess!
Several wonderful laugh lines. Emma:*What should I call you now, Captain Hand?* and Elsa: *…the only time I ever made anyone sweat* and subtly endearing Kristoff: “Well, I was going to say bad, but*. Snow finally broke out of her matronly stupor and was…cute 🙂 And the dartboard miss was a great comic moment.
Also there were some genuine sweet and touching (no pun intended) moments during the date scenes. They all look like they had so much fun filming them. It is always an interesting scene when Emma opens the door to find Hook there. The entwined hand hug is fast becoming Emma’s and Hook’s affectionate trademark and it is perfect for them! And the shot of Hook hugging Emma’s back with both hands while she was wrapped in his jacket…totally heart tugging sweet. Nice smooch. They fit.
Will, I don’t know him and never watched Wonderland but I know his True Love story and the few seconds on his face when he saw the Wonderland book and the torn out picture of the Red Queen were wrenchingly tender and achy-soul gold.
Speaking of *gold*…jaysussss…I missed bad-arsed Rumple and edgy Hook, but even loving the bantering between Carlyle and Colin returning…whaaaat? Huh??? Who were these people (still laughing and mostly entertained from the sheer ping pong of who: has what control/no you don’t/oh,yes I do,/is changing /isn’t changing, is lying/is not/is, too, can hurt your girlfriend/already did/so there.) I’ve written a longer comment elsewhere in the vast wasteland of Internet chat but. truly, this is wacko in half a dozen ways.
Briefly, the hand in the jar was Killian Jone’s. A man who at the time that it was removed, was in a committed, consensual, deep love relationship and NOT the violently crocodile-hate driven, revenge bent, Neverland twisted demon of the seas. That was the main part of the HOOK.
Mumble mumble mumble. But Colin in angst is still wildly attractive. Rumple being lying, cheating, self-absorbed and self-serving, a totally natural state.
Henry….. DUH. Just DUHHHH. Belle, even DUHer.
The whole Regina/Henry/working in the shop/Operation Mongoose so they can change how the book was written, therefore plotting the potential demise of EVERYONE on the show as we know them? Just weird. Emma, running on the icy trail and not slipping all over the place? And even as a Fantasia lover,…The Walking Broom. I don’t know whether to snork or go awwwww. The mouse was clever, in a way, though. VHS proof from a surveillance camera in a house that Rumple didn’t know the location of before the broom trotted him there? ( moment of “how stupid” silence)
Shaking my head and still laughing, because, all in all, I continue to be entertained by the mess that is in Adam and Eddy’s storytelling brains.
Ack GAH. Just a holy mess of GAHH.
I’ll tune in next week, most certainly!!

I just… I really like this season… 🙂 (Also, does nobody actually read the contract that Rumple is having them sign? I mean, they think they make a simple deal, then the contract has like, TWO FEET of writing on it, and they don’t think they should maybe check the small print? *face-desk*)

Not entirely sure what sounds pterodactyls make, but Yep, the feels are fantastic today 🙂
Found this on tumblr.
I just wanted to throw this out there after what happened in the episode last night. Jen said this while they were just wrapping filming on episode 7. Not only do I absolutely believe Hook’s hand was cursed and Rumple used Hook’s insecurities against him to make him believe it wasn’t, I also think he’s going to come clean with Emma within 2-3 episodes. It doesn’t change the fact that Hook DID mess up last night, but as you can see from Jen’s tweet… when someone asked what Hook’s BEST quality is, this is what came to mind for her.
Have some faith in our boy — he let Rumple get the best of him and he had a bit of a backslide as a result but, he WILL beat this. He beat Pan’s manipulations and he will beat Rumple’s. Like Jen said, he has a FIERCE determination to be a better man and what he’s doing with Rumple obviously does not sit well with him. Pan underestimated Hook & Emma’s feelings for each other and so did Rumple. He tried to turn Hook’s love for Emma into a weapon and it is going to backfire in his face.
When Emma was battling her demons, Hook never left her side. He never let her forget that he believes in her and that she’s loved. And now she’s letting go of her past and becoming a beautiful, more enlightened version of herself and he had a hand in that. (No pun intended, haha) Emma knows this. We’ve already seen her trying to reassure him and comfort him this season…she will stand by him. She will remind him that he’s a hero and that she believes in him. I know it hurts but this is going to be SO GOOD in the long run. THIS is how Emma will inspire Killian this season. He’s going to see her let go of her baggage and embrace her magic and stand beside him and I just know it’s going to help him do the same.
“At the end of the day, Hook is a hero… he’s just not comfortable with admitting that to himself”
Emma won’t give up on the person she loves. And she won’t let Killian give up on himself. Killian was going to have to face his past eventually. He was going to come to this crossroad sooner or later. You don’t just decide to change after 300 years of being someone else and never mess up. There is beauty in the struggle and that’s what we’re seeing. Rumple was right, he DID do him a favor but, it wasn’t the one Rumple had in mind. This situation will ultimately help Kililan believe in himself and Emma will see him through it.

ParticipantThe simple truth is that Killian Jones has low self-worth. And I know that sounds ridiculous since the man is always boasting about how handsome he is and his sex appeal and how he’s good in a fight, but really, those are the only things he boasts about. That’s where his confidence lies. He knows he’s hot, he knows he can satisfy a woman in bed and he knows he can kick anyone’s ass.
But there is a darkness in him and a self-loathing that makes him question his place in Emma’s world. He’s done terrible things. He believed at the time and maybe even now, that he did them for the right reasons, but that doesn’t make them any less terrible. That doesn’t make him any less of a pirate. And he loves Emma so much and he wants to be the best version of himself for her and he is, but because he has so many misgivings and so much guilt about the stuff he’s done in the past, it’s very easy to trigger his fears.
When we first heard that Killian would get his hand back, there was an ugly debate about it – whether it was sending the wrong message that he needs a hand to be whole. But it turned out that wasn’t the reason he wanted it at all. He wanted to be able to hold Emma with both hands because he believes that she deserves that – a man without a hook, a tool he’s used to bring fear and pain to his enemies for 300 years. He wanted to go as the best version of himself, and it wasn’t about needing a hand to be whole, it was about not having the reminder of the man he was hanging from his wrist. Same thing with his clothes. He changed them to distance himself and their date from his past because he’s moving forward with Emma and finally finding happiness.
And that is exactly why now, to answer your question. Because Killian was honest with Rumple when Rumple asked why he wanted his hand back and then he took advantage of that. Whether or not the hand was actually cursed doesn’t matter at all because Rumple put the seeds of doubt in Killian’s mind. He reminded him of how he used to behave and then he took advantage of his weak moments to force him into getting in even deeper – just like he did with Anna in the past. And Killian might not have Anna’s innocence, but he’s a man in love, wanting the absolute best for his love, and Rumple took that and manipulated it and used it against him, just like Zelena did when she cursed his lips last season.
It is frustrating to watch because we know that Emma and the Charming family would support him in a heartbeat if he’d gone to them and told the truth right away. Even if he does it now, they’d still support him and believe him because he’s proven himself and they care about him. But Killian doesn’t have the faith in himself to believe that. He knows they’re good people, but he still doesn’t believe that he deserves to have a place with them. And Rumple’s counting on that. He’s counting on his fears and his doubts so that he can continue to manipulate him into doing his bidding.
Not sure about the “self-worth” part. Killian never struck me as having self-esteem issues. Yes, he does use his sexuality as a deflective tool (he is Captain Innuendo, after all) but I think that’s only because using his looks and sex to get his way has always come easy to him. The “self-loathing” part I agree with, especially since he’s come to know Emma. There’s a fine line between right and wrong, and being a ruthless pirate, that line veers to the “wrong” end. The guy hasn’t had a moral compass since Liam died. Now the Charmings are it, and Killian IS trying his damnedest to reform, even with this setback. So how long before he comes clean?

ParticipantAnother great review from Nerdy Girl http://nerdygirlnotes.com/2014/10/20/tv-time-once-upon-a-time-4-04/
Just a couple of good outtakes RE Hook:
Hook’s story in this episode was about so much more than just a hand (and a date); it was a way to tie his character arc into the season’s two biggest themes: choosing to believe you can be more than who you fear you’re fated to be, and never giving up on yourself or the people you love. And while parts of it were hard to watch, the points of light in his dark story gave me so much hope for where it’s heading.
Ultimately, the biggest thing to remember when looking back on Hook’s story in “The Apprentice” is that it was meant to show both how little Rumplestiltskin has changed and how much Hook has changed. I’ll admit to getting caught up in trying to decipher the ambiguity surrounding Hook’s hand: Was it cursed? Was it just allowing him to give into his darkness? What does that mean for him? However, what mattered wasn’t so much what the hand was doing but Hook’s reaction to it. He was shocked and disgusted with himself, to the point where he was willing to lose it again if it meant not hurting anyone else. Colin O’Donoghue played Hook’s sense of torment and self-loathing so well in this episode; it broke my heart. He made me believe that Hook was truly terrified of succumbing to his inner darkness again—not just because he could hurt Emma but because he didn’t like himself when that side of him came out again.
Self-loathing has always been a part of Hook’s character, and Rumplestiltskin knew him well enough to prey on that. While Anna was able to turn away from darkness easily because she has a strong sense of self, Hook is struggling with his sense of self, which made him an easy target for Rumplestiltskin. It would be easy for him to simply believe what Rumplestiltskin said about who he really is and who he is always fated to be. But Killian Jones is a man who fights for what he wants—that’s who he really is. And that’s why it hurt to watch him follow the broomstick (another excellent Fantastia nod) and hold down the apprentice as Rumplestiltskin captured him in the hat. O’Donoghue made us see that Hook was lost and desperate, and we all know Rumplestiltskin knows how to recognize (and use) a desperate soul.

ParticipantOk…. I think my brain is working enough to type my thoughts on the ep 😉
my brain still in meltdown mode 😉
1st up- Fantastic episode! Loved it! 😀
The writers have outdone themselves with every episode to date! This season rocks so far & the ratings seem to be proving it.Awww, Henry’s ok with Emma dating Captain Hook & giving her that little push forwards, to go ask Killy out was a very cute touch- Emma’s nervousness at what she’s about to do is very endearing 🙂 <3
Goes to show how little down time there is in SB, when Killy’s 1st thought was ‘SnowQueen search party’, as Emma walks in lol.
Love how we get a close up of Killy’s perfect darts aim, then him not just missing his target, but missing the dart board entirely in favor of bouncing the dart off of the wall a meter or so away, when Emma totally takes him off guard & asks him out- equal parts sweet & hilarious right there lol- He obviously was expecting Emma to back away again, because he was NOT expecting that invitation LOL 🙂 Love their banter…esp now with Emma being softer & happier than we’ve ever seen her before… it almost makes her seem younger than she is – unless the makeup department is going all out on ‘youthful glow’ these days (See what I just did there 😉 ). I love that Killian not only puts a smile on her face, he lightens & relaxes her as well- it gets me in the feels every-time. Killian accepting Emma’s invitation, as long as he can plan the evening- chivalry & pirates- hot mix that 😉 *dying of feels*3parts No, dont do it Killy!, 6parts Darn you Rumple! & 1part Awwww, for the killy/Gold Pawn shop stuff.
I did LOL at Killy’s reaction to Rumple’s warning (I had the same reaction if I’m honest, along with ‘Ummm Ohhhh Kaaaayyyy- didnt he go “dark” AFTER Rumple murdered Milah & cut off his hand lol). Again, gotta take a moment to appreciate the brass set Killian has to push Rumple again! I admit, I kind of lost the plot for a moment- I was sitting there willing with every fiber of my being for Killy NOT to listen to Rumple’s mind games… for him to fully believe that Rumple was just messing with his head… Before I came back down to reality …. *pauses to slowly die of feels* as Killy relishes having his hand back again… for Emma… to hold her with 2 hands….. *Hyperventilating* …. *Looses it* Darn you Rumple for screwing with his head UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shady Rumple is Shady & hasnt changed one bit by the looks UGH! (Ok, so he might have…a little- he didnt turn Killy into a snail & squish him- but of course, he couldnt get away with that…. so maybe he hasnt after all *sigh*). I knew it was Not going to end well- Darn it all Killy, WHHHHHHYYYYYYY?! *sigh*
I can feel the CS angst machine winding up & getting ready to put all us CS fans through the grinder …… aaaaaaagain.
*Takes a moment to die of more feels*, as Killy truly was happy to have both hands again …. for his Emma, his love ….. *dies* (Oh, by the way- there’s lots of dying lol!)LOVED the reactions to Emma’s dress- perfect & priceless …
Snow’s “Wow!”
David’s “What your mother said”
Elsa’s “Is that just the corset, where’s the rest of it?” lol
& Emma’s “This, is the rest of it” was FANTASTIC- perfect Charming family moment right there <3 Snow’s random photo taking, Snowing’s joy at seeing Emma so happy *Squeee* Then Charming’s reaction to Killy’s knock on the door & his 2 hands, is just beyond cute! (kind of makes me wish I had my Father growing up). Emma’s nerves & vulnerability were just perfection, it’s wonderful to see her embracing being so happy for once 😀 I’m not sure if I’m gonna die of fluffy Charming family feels or at how happy Emma is … Or both- both works 😉Ok warning- extreme fangirling & lack of coherency for the next paragraph (I kid you not, this almost came out as a bunch of random letters- still not over this next bit)….
Attempts to push through the fangirling CS feels *hyperventilating* Emma’s reaction to Killian’s new look ……….. Nope cant do it ….. alshkjrgfhsadjas;jghflsjf;ahdf’dj …. OMG……… *FeelsGlandExplosion* ….. *Squeeeeee* ….. Ok …. *CaptainSwan Feels goes into warp drive* ….. *slaps own face* …. pulling it together in 3, 2, 1 …. *types as fast as possible*
Emma’s reaction to Killian’s new clothes ….. OMG- that was just…just…. wonderful- Emma surprised into speechlessness & literally taken a step back by her Killy (& Snow’s reaction was almost as good lol), Killian’s softly awed expression as he tells her she looks stunning, his cockiness over how well he did with his new attire, given Emma’s reaction lol. I melted when he hands her a single rose, with his hand *pauses a moment to dwell in blissful CS feelings* I LOVED how Emma didn’t even notice Killian was handing her a rose with his hookside/hand, because she really doesn’t care if he has a hand or a hook, she loves him no matter what! I totally got a ….little….. emotional there as my feels glad exploded *Emotions, emotions flying everywhere!* <3 <3 <3
Then Killy’s “The DO really has changed” speech & I was internally screaming “No! Dont tell them that, Killy! What are you doing?!” happened & thats when I got nervous for the rest of the ep LOL.
I love Snow grinning like the cat who got the canary in the background during the whole thing- the Charming’s were pure Gold this episode lol.Lady & the Tramp Nod- cute!
AWWWWWWWWW- Killy getting Emma’s chair- he’s always a gentleman (Oh, yes- I just did that 😉 ) Loved the banter & Killy with his pirate swagger on is Hot, Hot, Hot! *Needs to take cold shower ASAP* (He really doesnt ‘need’ the hook anymore IMO- I think the pirate outfit is more “Hookish, than the actual hook anyway).
I didnt like his downplay of Emma’s SQ puddle worry, but get he wanted her to relax & just have a good time, Not dwell on everything that could go wrong.
Totally shouted “Damn it Will!” at my Tv when he disturbed Emma & Killian’s date. Killy’s reaction had my CS & Hooker heart breaking- I could hear the gears of the angst machine growing ever louder & more menacing… Killian’s reaction to his grabbing Will like he did *sobs* It actually took Emma reaching out physically, taking his ‘new/old’ hand, to snap him out of his intense horror & worry about grabbing Will- he even missed Emma choosing him & their date over chasing after Will- that was a big deal for her!
I dont know how the writers do it- but I’m still equal parts fangirling at the perfection of #CaptainSwanDateNight , Crying for Killian & his shock over his hand, as well as bursting with Emma/CS feels that Emma chooses Killian & #CaptianSwanDateNight over rushing off to be sheriff.Killy & Emma outside Snowing’s door… Emma wearing Killy’s jacket was just the perfect little touch (seriously Killy should give lesson on this sort thing to modern day guys!) & he showed her such a good time, that she forgot to worry about being the savior, the sheriff & pondering the new big bad (I love how our ship is literally the savior & the survivor- how perfect is that lol). Killy apologising again for his actions & Emma getting all soft & romantic with him again ….. *feels attack incoming* The hand holding ….. *concentrates on breathing* as Emma steps in closer & says ‘its Ok’ *heart beat going into over drive* then she asks if he wants to come in & have coffee (all be it with parents, newborn & human ice maker lol), how happy they both are as Emma gently flirts with him, then Killian makes himself even more vulnerable, looks into her eyes (the way he does that sends your feels gland into overdrive & shipper heart flying out of your chest) & asks if she’ll go out with him again, Emma’s little smile as she steps in & *hyperventilating* … The.Kiss.To.End.All.Kisses ….ZOMG!!!! *little shipper heart jumps out of chest & explodes into a million rainbows* how do they do that- every kiss is better than the last … until DAMN.YOU.RUMPLE.WITH.YOUR.MIND.GAMES! That buzzing/grinding sound you all are hearing- yeah that isnt blacknosie, thats the CS angst machine from S2 & S3, revving it’s engine with the promise of much use to come *sigh*
Emma leaning on the door all love struck ….. *dies of feels …..again*, the little start she has, as Snow chirps up with “How was it?”… How damn cute are Snowing this season?! Those 2 almost need a “Warm fuzzies” warning label or “beyond cuteness” alert during their scenes with Emma lol… LOVED Snow wanting the low down on Emma’s date night & Charming being all like- ‘yeah, how about lets not talk about any goodnight kissing’ LOLOLOL – Perfect scene of Snowing waiting up, realising Emma is deeply happy & Killian really has changed- they both also looked very happy themselves *dies of Charming family feels*… but the icing on the date/charming family feels cake, was Emma’s “I can hear you guys” after she had left them to their observations lol.
NB. Just as well emotional coffins dont cost… I’d have gone broke by now & be forced into having to bury my poor dead, deader & deadest emotions under the neighbours bushes in the dead of night lolLove how Killian’s 1st reaction to Will drunkenly trying to break into the library was 1) Tell him to quit trying to break into the library & 2) That he’s drunk & needs to go home- Not exactly dark impulses there lol ….Then of course Will shakes off Killian’s effort to stop him, Killian goes all Hook & punches him…which makes me wonder if the hand really is cursed … but to be fair- punching the guy you are trying to stop from breaking & entering, who also happened to disturb your long awaited date, that you spent a great deal of time & effort on, probably isnt the most “cunning or selfish” thing he could do- but it was an extreme reaction given what we’ve seen lately … oh, whats that I hear? That damn angst machine kicking into gear, as Killy tells Will to zip it or loose it, then goes into panic mode thanks to Rumple’s friggn mind games messing with his head *dies a little bit on the inside*
Damn you Rumple with your mind games!!!!! Why, Why, WHY Killy, WHHHHHYYYYYY????!!!!???!! *sigh* Lawyers people…always take lawyers with you when you visit Rumple/Gold *head desk* Gotta be honest- not liking Rumple/Gold’s choices at all, entirely selfish & totally not cool- seriously, Killy wouldnt have been able to push him into helping him (because it is NOT Blackmail if Killy doesnt ask for money- pick up a dictionary dude!), he brought that on himself, he is supposed to love Belle, but all he really seems to want, is to have his cake & eat it too *disappointed face* Upside Rumple still has the hand- so maybe Killy will get it back at some stage again (not that he needs it- I’m thinking more of poor Colin getting scripts & having to remind the directors etc. that he’s only got one hand lol) & seriously I didnt miss the hook at all this ep- I dont think he need’s it to be a ‘pirate’ or even ‘Captain Hook’. .whoops…Back on topic.
So I’m liking the idea of Rumple pulling a double bluff on Killian with the hand & also liking the idea that Emma may reattach it with light magic later on 🙂
I know my thoughts are a bit all over the place, I wrote this last night after watching & then I visited tumbler this morning & now I feelings- feelings all over the place 😛

ParticipantOh silly silly Hook. Why oh why oh why?????? You should know better than that!
He’s going to tell Emma, right? Right? He’s not going to keep this one a secret right? Right????
Oh I seriously hope so- it was what, last week that Emma racked him over the coals for not telling her about Zelena’s curse….
I hope he’s gonna tell Emm. I can’t stand the suspence week to week ;I need to know what happens next.
Welcome back & I know right! This is the one show that seems to do it to me- I spend all week hanging out for information (stuff going spoiler free again, anytime soon- that ship has well & truly sailed lol), devour the episode & then spend the next 167hrs in total suspence about whats to come lol
<iframe src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/iEKEQbFWpvU?wmode=transparent&modestbranding=1&autohide=1&showinfo=0&rel=0″ width=”100%” height=”100%” frameborder=”0″ webkitallowfullscreen=”” mozallowfullscreen=”” allowfullscreen=””></iframe>Aww, what a great vid Bo- thanks for sharing 😀
Check out the ratings from last night’s episode:

<script async=”” src=”//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>Yep & it’s likely to creep up a little bit higher again, before they take the DVR ratings into account – the ratings are suburb this season… I’ll have to track down the S1 numbers again, but I think this season is even topping it.
Honestly?
What a holy mess!
Several wonderful laugh lines. Emma:*What should I call you now, Captain Hand?* and Elsa: *…the only time I ever made anyone sweat* and subtly endearing Kristoff: “Well, I was going to say bad, but*. Snow finally broke out of her matronly stupor and was…cute
And the dartboard miss was a great comic moment.
Lol, just lol- love how you painted the whole Rumple/Killian power/uppper hand struggle – that about sums it up lol

I just… I really like this season…
(Also, does nobody actually read the contract that Rumple is having them sign? I mean, they think they make a simple deal, then the contract has like, TWO FEET of writing on it, and they don’t think they should maybe check the small print? *face-desk*)
IKR!!!!
This is what I wrote about that on one of the other sites (sorry it;s a bit all over the place- it was write after the episode aired, so my brain was mush & my fangirl on overdrive lol)…
LMAO at Anna & DO/Rumple’s interaction- funniest part of this ep:
Rumple “Good then he’ll live”
Anna “So now can you tell me why my parents came… Wait, What!? What do you mean ‘Live’?”
Rumple “He’ll live because he drank the antidote you gave him”
Anna “Antidote!… to what?!”
Rumple “Ah, Poison” (RC seriously sells it here)
Anna “I thought it was poison!”
Rumple “Hehehe, No! The poison’s what he drank yesterday. What you had was the cure for that” (again seriously…how is the apprentice still alive if he’s so trusting he allows random strangers to fiddle with his tea pots! Shouldnt it be like ‘EF 101’- Stranger danger, lack of it gets you dead… or mouse-ified! ) ….. Gees Rumple, talk about mess with her head- poor Anna …. Will may have stolen Rumple’s title as sass master last week, but Rumple is grand master of manipulation! Like lets just hand him the crown, scepter & throne of manipulation right now
Question…. why does no one ever read the fine print when a sparkly dude named ‘DO/Rumpelstiltskin’, who is wearing a crocodile skin, gives them a contract to sign?! I mean he’s not cute n fluffy like a little kitten, nor does he have a cute name like Love-Ulotz or Mr Happytimes …. do none of these people hear the massive warning klaxons going off in their heads when he pulls out a contract, giggles & says “sign”?! …Jumping ahead a little- why does no one take a lawyer with them when doing a ‘deal’ with Gold?!?!skips around the room making happy pterodactyl noises* I’M DROWNING IN FEELS AND IT’S GLORIOUS.
Not entirely sure what sounds pterodactyls make, but Yep, the feels are fantastic today

I agree with you on your thoughts here & i hope sooner rather than later!

I love nerdy girls reviews 🙂 Thanks for posting the link 🙂
