[adrotate group="5"]I can kind of see how some people might’ve preferred for it to be Emma herself or Emma with her parents or Henry, but personally I’m not going to complain about getting adorable CS scenes.
I dont actually have a problem with it at all from a shipping or story perspective- it makes total sense for Emma to open up to someone who isnt part of her painful past IMO. Emma knows why, understands & forgives Snow, Charming for giving her up etc. but that pain is still there from her childhood & even Henry is a part of that painful past- it doesnt make sense at this point for them to see how emotionally painful her past is to her again- they did that in S2 & S3 with Henry & Snowing- it makes zero sense for her to open about her past to Regina, since Regina caused it all to happen in the 1st place, Elsa may have worked, but she’s more worried about finding Anna atm, so that leaves Killian as the only other person who Emma trusts & is not in anyway involved with her painful childhood/teenage years. Also I think when we consider it was supposed to be Killian who Emma opened up to/ admitted still feeling like she was an orphan & always would be, in NL & they (rightly) decided to change it to Snow, that it was time for Emma to open up about her past to Killian- it just fits nicely within the narrative & will help drive drive the angst train when the poop hits the fan about the Killian/Rumple debacle.
And I know I’ve said this before, but based on Neal’s various introduction episodes, I find it hard to believe that he was supposed to be Emma’s happy ending. First we see him leave her pregnant and in jail for his crime in “Tallahassee” and learn that he’s the one who taught her never to trust anyone. Then the first time we see them interact in the present, Neal (a) yells at her for bringing his father to him, (b) literally laughs in her face when she points out that he abandoned her like Rumple abandoned him, and (c) makes demands about being in Henry’s life when I’m pretty sure he gave up any paternal rights he might’ve had when he left the 16-17-year-old girl, with whom he’d had unprotected sex, in prison for his crime with no way to reach him. Any time you have sex with someone, you have to know that there could be a baby (even if the chances are very small depending on contraceptives). When you know that, and still leave the person with whom you had sex with no way to contact you, surely that is knowingly surrendering your parental rights.

But like I said, I suppose we’ll never know, although I’m going to take A&E at their word when they say they’d planned it. We do know of one instance for sure where they changed their plans for the show because someone wanted them to, though. Ahem.

I’d actually really like to know how much Emma knows about Hook’s past. I really think she does know exactly who Milah was, both from the scene in Bae’s old cave in 304 and because she’s not an idiot. I’d like explicit confirmation one way or the other though. Other than that though, I have no idea what she does and doesn’t know.
Me too. I agree, she must know who Milah is in relation to everyone else. They looked pretty awkward in that cave when Bae’s mother was mentioned. She obv knows he lost his brother to Dreamshade (Charming told her that). I doubt she knows he was abandoned by his father – unless Neal told her, but I doubt it. Whether she knows he was an upstanding member of the Royal Navy, who knows? Charming must have that sussed though, he recognised the insignia as military, and Hook said his brother was his captain, so two and two should equal four on that. But you know, Charming can be pretty dense sometimes.

That’s something I’ve wondered about…we had Rumple say several times in “The Crocodile” that he could see that they were True Love, and while I wouldn’t take his opinion on love as gospel, especially at that point way before Belle, we did see that each of them was willing to die to protect the other, and that seems like pretty true love to me. *Shrug* I guess it comes down to whether someone can have more than one TL in a lifetime–although really, Hook has had like four lifetimes so I could believe that he had two TLs 300 years apart, haha. Obviously I think he and Emma are TL though regardless, and I’m really hoping we see proof of that by the end of 4A. *fingers crossed*
I agree with the Emma isnt stupid, she must have put 1 & 1 together considering all the hints (these are just off the top of my head & are only between Emma & Killian as those are the oonly ones I can recall pretty much word for word lol)- 2×06 Emma say’s to Killian “Gold, Rumpelstiltskin, he took more than your hand from you didnt he. That’s why you wanna kill him.”
In 2×16 When Emma is talking to Rumple & Hook comes in, stabs him, then says “You took Milah, my love, my happiness & for that I now take your life.” Then Emma KO’s him with a trash can (LOL), asks Rumple if ‘he’s alright’, Neal comes running down asking ‘what the hell is going on?’ & Emma replies with “One of your dads enemies found us”. Neal responds with “Hook” & Emma asks “You know him?”
In 2×22 “And Straight On ‘Til Morning”- Emma tells Hook Henry’s father is Neal & Hook responds with “Baelfire”
In 3×01 Emma & Killian talk about Bae/Neal on the Jolly Roger. Hook says “You know, Bealfire & I once spent a lot of time together.”
Emma “He was always Neal to me”
Hook “yeah, right. This was his *hands Emma Bae’s cutlass*”
Emma “I didnt realise you were sentimental”
Hook “I’m not. I just thought you could use it considering where we’re going. To fight”

I dont consider anyone to be TL until I see it confirmed either by TLK or A&E tell us they are TL (neither of which has happened for Milah & Killian, all A&E have said is they loved each other, so yeah.)
I have to admit, I dont know how A&E are going to pull off OQ…. I mean I already really like Marian as a character in her own right, so will be very disappointed if they kill her off. I want her to get her HAE, she deserves it- esp if they are going to split such an iconic couple up (& I’m not even a big Robin Hood fan). I’m not opposed to OQ, as I know it’s going to happen whether I like it or not 😉 I just hope A&E sort the mess out in a tasteful manner, rather than just offing the third wheel :/

All he had to find was the epitome of TL and we get that with Snowing. Hook himself called Milah his first love, but he obviously loved her so much he was willing to spend hundreds of years trying to find a way to avenge her. That sounds like true love to me. If Charming is to believed TL is hard to come by and worth fighting for. Killian has fought for Emma, he didn’t really *have* to fight for Milah, but that’s not to say he didn’t love her any less. He’s a very passionate pirate. When he falls, he falls hard!

I dont really see it as an act of TL, I just see Killian as being very loyal & passionate to boot 😉 Plus most of his 300yrs was spent in NL looking for away to kill Rumple & stay alive. I believe they truly loved each other- I’m just not sold on it being “TL”.
In all honesty it doesnt bother me if they were TL, I just dont think they were, as we havent had it confirmed. A&E confirmed Daniel was Regina’s TL (a number of times if I’m remembering correctly), so I would have thought they’d have simply said Mialh & Killian were TL if that was the case, when they spoke about them, but they didnt- they just said they loved each other, so thats what I’m basing my opinion on atm 🙂

Okay, another (shorter) Regina rant ahead. After this recent episode I’m just full of frustration about the way the show is treating her. Sorry to use your post as a jumping-off point, @Jenna_B–I’m pretty sure your view is the one shared by the large majority of viewers, but I wanted to explain why I feel how I do; I had to get this out!
Do I think Emma and Regina are going to be besties – or that they should? No, definitely not. Even without the history they are two very different women. However, they still have a son that they have to co-parent, so they need to have some kind of relationship that isn’t filled with animosity – for their child’s sake. I think, given Emma’s recent experiences, she’s able to see this.
See, I personally think that the whole relationship between Regina and Henry is rather sick and that she shouldn’t be around him at all, at least not unsupervised. This has been completely ignored since then, but in the first two seasons, we see that she was an abusive mother and stepmother with a history of murdering and tormenting children (in addition to her many other crimes). I do think she loves Henry in her own twisted way, but you can definitely love someone and still abuse them, and in fact if Henry is trying really hard to please Regina and keep her from returning to her old ways (something that REALLY shouldn’t be his responsibility!) it makes sense for him to throw himself into Operation Mongoose–and that’s tempting him toward “the dark side” if you will. I mean, he wants to force the author give Regina an undeserved happy ending and he used his dead father to get in with his grandfather under false pretenses. That last thing especially was really disturbing to see.
And the other major issue I have with Emma not taking Regina to task is that this is the woman that Emma recently saw gleefully burn her mother at the stake and who just admitted to unjustly imprisoning and then enslaving a man with the intention of murdering Marian–and even though she didn’t do that, she still had no intention of letting Sidney go. I was so thrilled when he finally turned on her!
(Just so no one thinks I’m delusional, note that I really don’t think that any of that will actually be addressed; the only way I see her victims getting any justice at all is if Regina does finally turn out to be a/the major villain at the end, which I think would make complete sense and would love to see, but highly doubt will happen.)
