Lots of nodding at your thoughts, surayya 🙂

(I started out being somewhat brief. But of course failed miserably.)

My usually agreeable suspension of disbelief was fading in and out last evening but the rapid introduction/advancement of plot kept me hanging on because I still embrace the overall aura of the show ~and the deliciously dreaded angst potential thickened!!

    One liners~cute!

Snow Queen is calmly psychotic and I love her cool “Stephen King” creepiness. Excellent portrayal.

Her beastly cruel, truth telling mirror bests Sydney’s by a good margin, it will be a shame when it shatters! I love the understated current of very adult psychological horror that A&E  manage to intertwine with family hour storytelling.

Drama…dum dum dum Dummmmbelle! It is painful for me to watch the stupidity deepen in the portrayal of my favorite Disney Heroine. I just… No, I will leave it at that. She is what they have made her and I will never like the stuffed-nosed, clogged-throat vocal delivery of any line spoken by de Ravin. She is Rumple’s cross to bear and he, in an odd literary “just desserts” Dark One punishment, deserves her insipidness.

Robin Hood?  Why does Regina love this dude again? Regina, until her focused arc in season 2 is still annoyingly bi-polar, though much less so than last week. Might be best for me to take a healthy swig of memory loss potion for her weird character spasms of  the previous episode.

And after what is surely a dip in the ice coated, threatened life, sea of possible TLK scenarios for CS…we have young Hook coming!!!!

    Huzzah! Huzzah!

Once day & there’s been zero activity???? What is this evil magic I see before me?

Well I started writing something last night, but got distracted and then tired so I just gave up, lol.

Soooo, do I understand this correctly… Belle’s mother risked Belle’s life & died to save books from Ogres? Umm- What were those books about that made them worth not only risking her own life, but that of her only daughter as well? Is that being a hero or just stupid… Dont get me wrong, I love books…. but dead is dead- like there isnt usually a 2nd chance once you die & she didnt have magic or weapons- I assume… so how exactly did she manage to hold off an ogre? …wait… do ogres even read? Like do they even care about what a book is *has hilarious image of a big bad ogre trying desperately to turn just a single page, in a tiny, little (to him) fairy tale book he’s trying to read, with his massive finger… *snort* (It was probably a prophecy about Emma come to think of it :p ) Anybody else get the feeling Rumple took Belles memories at the bequest of her father ….

So from what we saw…yes, Belle and Colette stayed behind to save some books. I don’t think Colette wanted Belle to stay with her (when the guards asked, she said “I will find her, now go!”) but she couldn’t stop her and apparently the guards couldn’t find her to drag her out. So they grab a few last books, then of course they waste a few precious seconds chatting about why Belle loves books, and then decide to hide under a table until the Ogres pass through.

Now we knew from before that Ogres “are blind. They hunt by sound alone”. Okay, so they were being quiet under the table…but then why did Colette say “Shh, it’s going to be alright” before they were gone? And the idea of Colette sacrificing herself for Belle reminds me of season two when Snow drew the Ogre away from Emma. I could see Colette getting up, running a few yards away, and shouting so the guards have time to get Belle out. But just because it’s plausible doesn’t mean it’s true (if so, then why wouldn’t he just tell her right off the bat?).

As for the books, well, unless they had some Braille books in the library I think the blindness rules out their actually wanting them. ;-P I think the Ogres just destroy everything in their path so they’d probably rip up the books or at the very least destroy the castle so they’d be exposed to the elements.

Snow was so sweet, enraptured at seeing her daughter as a little kid for the 1st time (Emma better keep a close eye on that tape or Snow is going to snatch it, me thinks lol), rather than seeing the ‘big picture’ of evil Snow Queen as her foster mother LOL!!! I have to admit I love how touched Snowing are at all things Emma, this season <3

I definitely thought it was both sweet and heartbreaking for Snow to see a young Emma. Although I didn’t appreciate Regina butting in while Snow was trying to see some of Emma’s childhood—you know, a few minutes of those 28 years as a family that Regina STOLE from them. (Residual anger from last week? Check.)

Couldn’t believe Belle lying at 1st, but understand it after Snow Queen cave/mirror events. It explains the weird look on her face all season, she knew exactly where Anna was & why Elsa couldnt find her. Was great to get a bunch of Belle back story & enjoyed pairing Belle & Anna together for their little Rock Troll adventure- very cute.

Yeah…it really reminded me of Hook in “The Jolly Roger” last year—hiding information from someone searching for her loved one because she was ashamed. Which is weird, because Hook and Belle don’t usually remind me of each other, lol. But it does also explain why Belle hasn’t been as helpful this season as she was before (like just standing there while David and Hook were trying to get Emma out of the ice cave)—she didn’t want to get involved there at all.

Rumple, Rumple, Rumple *shakes head*… so to keep your dirty big (because it isnt little) secret, you are willing to let Belle endanger herself by trying to confront the Snow Queen?!?! Grinds teeth.. Seriously?! Was fully expecting ice-Anna to pop back up at all the “Belle!” shouting, so it was cool to get ‘magic mirror Belle’ instead…Belle in the mirror was just creepy- totally got a “Host” vibe off of those creepy, creepy eyes lol & what made it sooooooooo much worse was that everything it said regarding Rumple, was all shades of true….so whats the deal with it, why did it make her go ‘evil’ after wards- still not 100% sure on what it does exactly…

Yes, and that was weird for me—it felt to me like a mirror that shows the truth rather than one that just makes you evil/angry/unable to see beauty or good.

Why in the love of all that’s green didnt Belle wonder why Rumple was still able to hold onto her after telling him to “Let me go” 3 times????? Should that have been the 2nd question on her lips after how did you come in here after me if this is the real dagger?!? Belle’s horror at herself with cutting Rumple was heart breaking. UGH!!!

My thoughts exactly! You’re holding the dagger, yelling at him to let you go, and he DOESN’T! That should’ve been like a big neon sign over the dagger blinking “FAKE”, lol. But then the cutting thing made no sense—two weeks ago we saw Hook stab Rumple with the eponymous appendage and he wasn’t affected at all. Shouldn’t the same hold true for the fake dagger since it shouldn’t have any magic?

And Rumple’s behavior, while not surprising, was disappointing…instead of coming clean he just keeps digging himself deeper! And now we have a whole NEW lie in that he had to pretend not to know anything about the hat. It’s very interesting to know that Belle would recognize the box though if she saw it!

The sneaky bugger probably kept the wound fresh so not to cause any suspicion.

I’m on the fence with this episode. Liked it better than last weeks though.  I agree, the one liners were great.   “Captain Guyliner” will live on in perpetuity in this fandom.  I’ve never been a big Belle fan so her scenes in general were just “meh” for me-with one exception- the dark Belle in the mirror really made the episode. Hallelujah! Finally a chance at some great acting from Emilie. I found the whole dialogue between Belle and her mirror image creepy and I was so happy that she lashed out at Rumple (FINALLY!) in the cave, only to have her apologize to him in the next instant (HUH?).  I’m with @Bo_Peeps on this one, insipid Belle is annoying at best. Bring on Dark Belle!

I love the Snow Queen. For all the craziness Rebecca Mader brought to the Zelena role, Elizabeth Mitchell just tops it with that quiet menace of hers.  It was great to see her and Rumple to at it. She’s not at all cowed by him, which is refreshing.

I miss Captain Swan. We’ve been so spoiled with all the CS goodness in the previous episodes that I hate just getting small glimpses of cuteness. The shit’s going to hit the proverbial fan soon so I hope we get to see some intimate moments in before that. I have to rewatch the episode, but didn’t Hook have a line about smashing a mirror?  Uh Oh

@obisgirl thanks for posting the link and photos.  I was expecting a meatier interview, but, oh well, I’ll just stare at the pictures regardless.  They got a few things wrong. His name is misspelt on the cover and this wife and son (who isn’t a 1 1/2 yet)  are with him in Vancouver, not at home in Drogheda.

I know about the last name crisis. Thankfully, a fan corrected it on tumblr.

Also thankfully, his name was spelled was correctly within the article itself. I mean, when the interview happened, it mentioned they were filming episode 8 at the time and the show is currently filming episode 10 or 11 now, I believe.  So things do change. That’s the problem with print, especially when it comes out later, that details aren’t accurate now as they were then.

Or, you know, poor research on the reporter’s part; which can happen too.

Gonna admit it- I’m back to enjoying/loving Regina again this ep- Loved how selfless she was telling Robin to put her side & find away to love Marian….. big points to Regina’s growth right there- at least she has been genuinely trying to help him. I still am a bit peeved off at her after last ep- that just wasn’t cool- in any way shape or form, but if Emma can build a bridge & be the bigger person- so can I.

I wish I could say the same, but I don’t think I’m ever going to enjoy Regina’s character at all unless they quit with the whitewashing and return her to Evil Queen status (so, probably never, lol). That said, while I found her jealousy that Emma’s in a happy relationship annoying and, of course, unjustified, that made much more sense than the offensive, hypocritical crap Regina was spewing last week—and it’s the kind of thing I could see Emma just taking instead of fighting about it whereas what she had to endure last week…well, it gave her that “kicked puppy” feel. (And while we’re on the subject—how the heck is Robin supposed to fall in love with Marian again when she’s completely frozen? It makes no sense.)

And speaking of villains, I totally agree with what’s been said about The Snow Queen (or should we call her Ingrid now?). She’s a GREAT villain, much more subtle and understated than the others so far, even if her motives seem to be rather similar to Zelena’s. And I don’t really know enough about her motives yet to determine how sympathetic she is, but she does genuinely seem to care about Emma, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of what they had and why she erased Emma’s memories of her (although I must say, this whole “memory-erasure” plot device is getting old pretty quickly…) Regardless, I can’t wait to see her backstory next week!

As to the actual CS stuff—like @callmeLola said, there wasn’t much of it this week, but we really can’t complain too much since we’ve been a bit spoiled lately. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t even get a glimpse of whatever Hook and Rumple are up to for the second episode in a row, but I guess there isn’t time for everything. The line about there being lots of other blondes though…what even was that? I guess it makes sense if it’s a reference to trying to find Emma in NYC, not so much if (as the haters say) it’s a reference to ogling other women. I mean we all know how devoted he is to Emma; he wasn’t interested in anyone else even when her services were bought and paid for AND he thought he’d never see Emma again. (Actually something just occurred to me…the haters really need to make up their minds: is Hook creepily, stalkerishly obsessed with Emma or does he just want to use her as a trophy/notch on his bedpost then dump her? Haha.)

Umm, since I can’t seem to rein in the verbiage today, I’ll probably post again later about upcoming episodes. I’m just glad this week’s episode didn’t make me want to hurl anything at my TV! Ha. Also, thanks for pointing out that magazine…I think I’ll buy it on iTunes myself, although it doesn’t appear to be available quite yet.

GRRRRRRRR- stupid windows 8.1 have to retype this out again >:(

Thanks for the interview & pics link 😀

Or, you know, poor research on the reporter’s part; which can happen too.

I’m gonna have to go with this sadly- Talk about no verification of facts :/

Hook was not originally meant to be a recurring, but audience response helped garner O’Donoghue billing as a season regular quickly.

It doesnt take more than 30secs to confirm this isnt the friggn case with a quick google search :/

I mean seriously… how does fan reaction figure into his being made a regular when he was made a regular weeks BEFORE ever appearing on the friggn show?!?!?!
The announcement was made on Oct 4th, Hook wasnt on our screens until Oct 21st!

Once Upon a Time newcomer Colin O’Donoghue has been promoted to a series regular before even appearing on the show.

The actor, who plays Peter Pan villain Captain Hook in ABC’s fairytale drama, will be promoted for the second half of season two, Entertainment Weekly reports.

O’Donoghue was absent from Once Upon a Time’s season premiere, which aired in the US last Sunday (September 30), and will not make his debut as Hook until October 21 episode ‘The Crocodile’.

UGH! I can see much more pointing out of the same facts, defending against fan pandering in my future *sigh*

I TOTALLY agree with their assessment of Captain Swan’s chemistry – it really is dynamite chemistry! 🙂

With all the memory erasing going around SB, I have no doubt that someone will use that spell on Robin, he’ll use TLK on Marian and they will live HEA.  Or not. *sigh* I have no idea what to think of this disaster of a love triangle.  I would be easier if Marian woke up and realized SHE didn’t love Robin anymore.

I have been kind of meh with the last two episodes. I am disappointed that Killian hasn’t said anything to Emma yet about the Rumple blackmail situation. Like most of you I did not like the Regina/Emma interactions in last week’s episode. Regina was better in this one though.

So I did not like the Belle stuff at all. I thought her keeping the secret about Anna was way out of character (especially for so long). I thought it kind of ironic that all the horrible stuff the mirror was telling her was pretty much true though maybe that was the point. I also can’t believe she still hasn’t figured out she has the fake dagger. She kept yelling let go and he didn’t! Belle is one of my favorite Disney princesses and I have not really liked the OUAT version of the character. I also thought the way her mom died was pretty stupid. Saving books? I was hoping there was more to the story but I guess not.

I am liking the Snow Queen as a villain to a degree. I like that she has that creepy calm brand of crazy versus the overemotional Zelena one. I also like that Rumple does seem to have some fear/respect for her powers. What I REALLY like is all the mystery surrounding her. How did she get to our world w/o the curse? What happened to the middle sister? What did she do to Anna? etc. I am not fully buying into her reason for being a villain though. I understand that she is supposed to be crazy but the whole I am going to destroy an entire town of people so I can have a family that loves me for who I am thing seems off to me. I had this problem with Zelena though too. I am hoping there is more behind that prophecy.

I am spoiled now.. not enough Captain Swan 😛 I can’t really come up with any theories on why Colin hasn’t been seen filming other than the Snow Queen did something to him and he is out of commission until she is defeated. I would be shocked if he died both for plot reasons as well as network reasons. I really doubt it. I am hoping the Rumple blackmail discussion comes up soon.
