Killian Jones
ParticipantAnother thing I want to add this episode did nothing to dispute that whole theory of Nealfire being a giant plot device. Saving him became the device to reveal Snow wanting a baby, David lying about his injury and Hook having true feelings for Emma.

I think so too, Stelio. I believe the love triangle the writers are playing at here is just to create more drama and an excuse to put a wrench in CS to keep viewers engaged.
Neal has done nothing in my book to redeem himself and he continues to act selfishly while Killian has been nothing but selfless and patient with Emma. He truly wants her happiness whereas Neal just wants to satisfy his emotional needs. As per tumblr posts people are making, Neal completely disregarded Emma’s pain and sadness in order to “fight” for her.
Tamara…yeah…okay, Neal, you really did some fighting didn’t ya?
I don’t hate Neal, but I feel there is a lot of room for character growth and maturity. So far, I am seeing none. I will give him credit for not tearing Emma down when she admitted her secret, but he needs to step up his game if he even wants a chance in Emma’s shadow, no less be on equal footing with her.
I hope they don’t drag the SF thing out too much. It is nauseating me already.
I clearly have some strong sentiments on the matter. *end of rant*
P.S. Yes, that Snowing parallel is amazing!!!! Love it!
Keeper of: Hook's eyebrow action, Emma's eye-rolls, David's sarcasm, Snow's "She's kind of out of town" to Tiny, and Rumple's "Not telling."

ParticipantOh god ohgodohgodohgod so many fEELinGS
I am hyper and incoherent
Time to talk about CS….
CAN I JUST GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY
Your belief in love wasn’t strong enough to overcome your fear of rejection.
So yeah, Killian’s belief in love IS strong enough to overcome his fear of rejection. AND may I add, with what he believes is SUCH a teeny tiny miniscule chance that Emma would EVER pick him.
At this point we just need to acknowledge just how alike Charming and Killian are, because my GOD the honour Killian showed in telling everyone (by proxy) that Neal is alive. I just, gah, KILL ME. He chose to put his feelings, his very real feelings for Emma aside and chose to reveal the thing that could possibly RUIN his chance with Emma, his TL, his second chance, AFTER 300 YEARS OF LONELINESS AND DESPAIR.
When they got to the echo caves, he didn’t hesitate to tell them how it worked, what it would cost to rescue Neal, and then proceeded to BARE HIS SOUL ABOUT HIS LOVE FOR EMMA IN ORDER TO RESCUE BAE, THE GUY WHO’S BEEN PERCEIVED AS EMMA’S TRUE LOVE. I mean, this is TRUE LOVE. THIS IS SELFLESS. THIS IS EVERYTHING WE COULD EVER WANT AS EMMA FANS. Like really. I am an Emma fan first and foremost, and what he did, what Killian did, was the most selfless, the most romantic thing we’ve seen on this show so far. No question. No competition.
And can we also talk about how Emma MOVED TOWARDS him after this confession, reached out to him, DIDN’T BACK AWAY, but moved to close the space between them, my goodness this body language speaks VOLUMES. Even though Emma said it was “just a kiss” and she is completely overwhelmed at the moment, her body language directly confirms her very real feelings for Killian Jones, even if she might not know yet how deep they go.
We had parallels here too – Killian and Ariel asking Snow to keep something from their True Loves (because I mean after this episode I am definitively calling Killian Emma’s TL forever let’s be real). We had Ariel talking about love at first sight and we had Killian saying that he fell in love with Emma when he met her – LIKE OMG OMG OMG. AND WHO CALLED THAT KILLIAN LOVED EMMA FROM THE MOMENT THEY MET – THAT’S RIGHT WE DID, CS-SEERS RIGHT HERE, AND THAT KILLIAN DIDN’T KNOW FULLY HIMSELF UNTIL HE KISSED HER, BECAUSE THAT KISS “REVEALED” HIS FEELINGS.
SO IN SUMMARY:
Killian’s secret was that he thought he couldn’t let go of his first love and then he did and he wants to move on. EMMA’S SECRET WAS THAT SHE THOUGHT SHE COULDN’T LET GO OF HER FIRST LOVE AND THEN SHE DID (START TO) AND SHE WANTS TO MOVE ON.
HAHAHAHAHA DYING
Now, on to Emma and Neal.
Can we just acknowledge how she actually stumbled backwards when Neal called her name? Because that is very telling.
I would like to open properly with this:
Snow:
Happy Endings always start with hope.
Emma:
I was hoping you were dead because it would be easier to put you behind me than to face all the pain we went through again.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THAT I JUST WANT TO KSDJFKLASDJFLKASDJFKA BECAUSE EMMA WAS HOPING NEAL WAS DEAD SO EMMA COULD FIND HER HAPPY ENDING I MEAN HAHAHAHAHAHA SUBTLETY YOUR NAME IS NOT ADAM + EDDY lolololololololololol
This episode just proved exactly what we’ve been saying ALL ALONG, that this “triangle” is about the past and the future. (spoiler: the future is Killian)
AND WHAT IS SO SIGNIFICANT ALSO is that Emma is not in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM denying her feelings about Neal to herself. She loves him, she probably always will, but she wants to move on and forget all the pain and heartache he caused her, and how she wishes he was dead because then she won’t have to face that pain, but now she will, she has to, HERE IN NL WHERE YOU CONFRONT YOUR TRUE SELF AND GROW UP. I just can’t.
BOTH Killian and Emma were talking in this episode about moving on from their first loves, and omg, again, significance.
So, er, yeah, onto Neal. Neal, Neal, Neal.
Ugh, do you remember that whole plot device thing we were talking about? That Echo cave scene could not have made it more clear. Here we have the main characters, spilling out their secrets, horrible, painful secrets that reveal their soul, and then we have Neal, in a cage, revealing nothing. Yet again no development for Neal as a character. DELIBERATE.
And then we have this BS about Neal saying that he would: “Never stop fighting for her. Never”. Eh for one thing you already did buddy. But what bothers me about this is that.. ugh was that supposed to be romantic? I mean she had just told him that she wished he was dead so she could move on and that’s what he said to her? Really? It just seems to me like putting his own needs first again, and I can’t help but think that if it were Killian in Neal’s place he would put Emma’s first. Because it seems to me to be YET ANOTHER FORM of Neal taking away Emma’s choice in the matter. Very pushy, and I don’t like it. If Emma had said something about them maybe possibly getting back together someday… I would have accepted it. But I don’t like it.
So yeah, those are my thoughts.

ParticipantOk Snowing parallel, remember when Snow woke David up from his coma in the first season and she had to look on helplessly as he hugged his “wife.” Who else got flashback syndrome after Nealfire got free and Hook was seeing them hug?
YES

This!

I totally agree!

I know right! 😀

I know right! I knew he’d tell David, but to do it in front of Snow, without holding back- that was selfless in its entirety & I plain totally agree re echo caves stuff- The feels there (& I haven’t rewatched yet!)
LIKE OMG OMG OMG.
That was sooooooo Very satisfying! As a CS fan from the beginning, I have to admit I cheered at that bit…after almost dying of feels 😀

AGREE! agree, Agree! Yes this! over & over again- Why do they insist on having Neal take these stances & his last apology wasnt even a real apology- it was a non apology with sentences like “I tried to love you” & “BUT I” etc UGH- cant he just say “sorry” without having to try justifying himself!

Yes, because Neal is their obstacle, not the other way around, this episode was CLEARLY FRAMED to focus on Killian’s and Emma’s reactions to the whole situation, and we had ZERO emotional response from Neal, I mean really, it couldn’t just be MRJ. Neal as a character is just so flat and emotionless. I mean, IT JUST COULD NOT BE ANY MORE OBVIOUS THAT KILLIAN AND EMMA ARE TRUE LOVE AND I JUST DON’T SEE HOW THIS CAN BE DENIED ANY MORE? LIKE LITERALLY AM BAFFLED?
Neal has done nothing in my book to redeem himself and he continues to act selfishly while Killian has been nothing but selfless and patient with Emma. Yes. It was very disturbing actually. I can’t wait to see Killian’s and Neal’s confrontation next week because I think it’s really going to set the tone for Neal’s character for the rest of the season if that’s when he finds out about the CS kiss. This week Neal accepted all the pain he caused Emma and how she has EVERY RIGHT to be mad at him. But if Neal attempts to shame ANY of them – Emma or Killian – about it, then he sees Emma as something that belongs to him. Which, i’m just saying, would be VERY REMINISCENT of the Rumple/Milah/Hook triangle where Rumple saw Milah as little more than a possession that Killian took away from him. *shrugs* We’ll see!
I hope they don’t drag the SF thing out too much. It is nauseating me already.
Lol! I am actually quite excited that Neal is here. I’m not looking forward to any possible belittling of Emma or disregarding her feelings of course, as we have just seen him do, but I am excited because Emma thinks that Hook and Neal are similar. Wellllllll, she’ll soon be seeing the difference between them. She’s going to learn the difference between selfless love and selfish love. And only one man is going to come out on top and it’s (spoiler) going to be Killian.

YES I KNOW RIGHT? The writers could have done so much with that echo cave scene, given Neal his own emotional secret to reveal about Emma or whatever so that he could get out of the cage. THAT would have been romantic.
And do you know what else I find funny, he was going on and on about telling Emma he loved her etc. when he found her and yet – he DIDN’T. Even though Emma told him she loved him when he was in the cage. There was only ONE declaration of love for Emma in this episode. I’m just hoping she’ll realise soon how significant it is that Killian Jones gave up on his revenge over his first love, one that he had spent 300 years trying to do, ALL FOR LOVE OF HER. MY GOD. I WANT A KILLIAN IN MY LIFE.
@Stelio Kontos – could it be any more clear that JMo is a CS shipper? Lol

At this point, it’s evident that Hook is the most honorable male figure next to Charming. He chose to put his feelings aside, and reveal the secret he knew could possibly ruin his chances of being with Emma. True love is selflessness. Killian Jones became the notorious villain Captain Hook the moment Milah was murdered in front of him. Killian Jones returned the moment he chose Emma and a life of nobility again. Fundamentally, everything he’s done on this journey has been for Emma. There’s no denying that he’s in love with her now: “I never thought I’d be capable of letting go, of my first love. My Milah. To believe that I could find someone else. That is until I met you.” As breathtaking and remarkable as last week’s kiss was this moment spoke wonders for the pair. To Emma, it may have been just a kiss, but as we’ve said before, she really has no time to evaluate her feelings just yet. Captain Swan are made to bring out the best in each other. They’re made to heal every wound that’s scarred them throughout their lives. With every episode it merely becomes more and more obvious that they’re soul mates. Every little detail is meant to mean something greater; therefore, Killian revealing the first secret in Echo Cave undeniably signifies the fact that he has and will always put Emma first. Her happiness matters more to him than anything else and it’s truly beautiful.
Emma and Neal’s reunion was undoubtedly a heartbreaking one. At the end of day, Emma’s still broken. The kind of love that they have is very real; however, this episode declared that it isn’t true love. They’re both perfectly fitted to be parents for Henry, but together they do more damage than good to one another. “I love you. I probably always will but my secret: is that I was hoping this was a trick. I was hoping you were dead because it would be easier to put you behind me than to face all the pain that we went through all over again.” Emma’s been broken for too long. Clearly she doesn’t wish Neal was actually dead, but what she desperately needs is to be freed of all the heartache she’s ever endured because of him. This is the very reason as to why this couple could never be. The only way they could ever get pasT this is to move on as friends. Neal says he’ll never stop fighting, but it’s unfortunately too late. The good thing that comes from his desire is that although it may be too late to rekindle a romance, it’s never too late to grow as a courageous human being.

ParticipantHook (Colin O’Donoghue) (or should I start calling him Killian Jones in my reviews? ) did the honorable thing and put Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and her happy ending ahead of his own feelings for her when he immediately told the Charming’s that Neal (Michael Raymond James) was alive. There is no denying that Hook has done some terrible things in the name of revenge, but there is something remarkably honest and innocent about the way he feels about Emma, about the way he looks at her and that fact that he admitted that he never imagined moving on from his first love until he had met Emma some 300 years later. That an admission of feelings that he made to help Emma get to Neal, was pretty beautiful. I don’t know where the show is going with Emma and Hook, but I’ll have a hard time believing that after 300 years of not moving on from one woman he’ll be able to move on from another anytime soon. I’ve found it interesting that throughout this Neverland arc that Emma Swan who never looks to anyone for help is always seeking out his help, opinion or input, she and Hook have bonded and she counts on him whether she realizes it or not.
