@rumplegoldfan- I completely agree with your overall point!!! Although I don’t think Neal is a loser. He’s just a guy who has made some poor life choices like many of the other characters on the show. And he’s someone that I would really prefer NOT to be involved with Emma romantically.

Everyone has some interesting things to say about the whole “Emma should be with Neal because they have a kid” thing. I’m sure I’m just going to echo what most of you have been saying, but my take on it is…Why force Emma back into a relationship that she clearly wants to move on from? There’s no marriage she and Neal are trying to salvage (they hadn’t even seen in other in over a DECADE). Just an old relationship that left Emma very emotionally damaged. We’re still seeing her try to heal and recover from that! I totally believe in forgiveness, but how does that equate to letting Neal be in Emma’s life romantically again?? Neal can be a great father to Henry and co-parent with Emma. Neal and Emma can have an AMAZING relationship…as friends. Just my opinion. We’ll see what the writers decide to do though. Honestly, you never know!

I think Hook’s “secret” was probably one of the most romantic things I’ve seen on OUAT. The combination of the writing and acting sent chills down my spine.

When I heard the podcast today, I was annoyed to hear the argument that it’s SwanFire and they deserve to be a whole family and anything else is not acceptable. Then I realized that there will always be people holding steadily onto Emma and Neal, no matter what Hook does and no matter how much it seems that Hook and Emma’s lives are colliding towards one another.  Heck, there are some people who are probably holding on to a ship like Evil Charming (to each their own!)

My thoughts – don’t worry what the others say. Enjoy the storytelling right now. We finally got a pay off between Hook and Emma this season so far. I am pretty sure there is going to be more since he is in LOVE with her!

I can see Emma stepping away from both guys until she sorts out her feelings. My only concern is that once they “save Henry”, there will probably be another crisis.  I have enjoyed this season’s one-on-one talks that are not clouded by one plot line after another (like the second half of Season 2). My only hope is that this season stays on the trajectory that it’s been going on. I love the character development happening, especially Emma and Hook’s. I haven’t seen much development for Neal just yet. Just sayin’.

I agree with you on them continuing on as they have been this season AllThatGlitters.

IMO this season (so far) seems like it’s been stronger than the 2nd season was- I mean there was moments of absolute brilliance in S2, but there were some really horrendous let downs too (I even stopped watching S2 for a while :/ ).

This season has kept me engaged & loving almost every minute of it so far. I think that is because we are actually getting much needed character development, over heavy plot development atm, which is smart move IMO- they arent a big budget Sci Fi series, where having an action packed plot, with impressive SFX & a little of the required character development thrown in to keep it moving along, is all thats needed; they are a fantasy/drama & IMO, rely heavily on strong characters to engage the audience, so they want to know what happens to everyone each week & tune in.

OUaT is usually AWESOME at writing character driven storylines (Neal is usually the exception here) & these are what usually get people hooked on the show…. I mean look at how many have gone from out right hating Hook & thinking he’s one dimensional, to actually growing to quite like him this season (until The kiss & Neal happened again lol :p )- that was all down to character development.

So yeah, I hope they continue to keep the show character driven this season, we can have a bit of action thrown in to the mix to keep the fantasy up front, just not running from one disaster to the next every ep, with no reaction time in between 😉

I just wanted to leave this here:

Milah to Rumple:

You mean like being a man and fighting in the ogre wars? Other wives became honored widows while I became lashed to the village coward.

You could have fought, Rumple. You could have died.

You sentence him to a fate much worse – growing up as your son!

Emma to Neal:

I was hoping you were dead, because it’d be easier to put you behind me, than to face all the pain that we went through all over again.

Not directly related quotes, but the context is still the same. Milah/Rumple were treated like outcasts due to Rumple’s cowardice and Milah wished he had died because it would have been easier on her and Baelfire.

So yeah, yet more evidence that the Rumple/Milah pairing is directly paralleled to the Emma/Neal pairing.

@surayya – I love how the plot this season is more character driven, than plot focused.  I mean, we have the story — to save Henry from Pan but since the premiere, it’s been about how these characters who didn’t all get along, work together and Emma seeing that Hook’s actually a good idea.  This is why I love reading/writing fanfics, because it goes into depth about the character.

@Captain Eala – I did catch that.  I saw a post on tumblr where someone compared what Milah said to Rumple/Emma said to Neal about wishing that he was dead.  Not a positive parallel there.
