I am so happy for all of us CSers! After a year of being told our ship was “all in our heads” it’s nice to see validation, on screen and in the fanbase.

I am so happy for all of us CSers! After a year of being told our ship was “all in our heads” it’s nice to see validation, on screen and in the fanbase.
it’s so awesome to be the ship representing Once this year! We have so many strong fan bases and even opposition to our ship within our own fanbase so to come out with a nomination and I think a decent chance to win has me very happy. I’ve always had the show first thought process but the reaction I’ve gotten in trying to gather support as one fanbase has been disappointing.

If Neal & Emma were supposed to be together, then Neal & Emma’s lives would NOT have improved after Neal left Emma, but both of their lives (from what we have seen), did improve- Neal eventually moved on & was going to settle down with Tamara, Emma gave up crime & became a bail bonds person, then found her family etc. Neal comes back into the picture & she becomes unhappy again, Neal exits from her life again & she begins to become happier again/starts smiling – despite still struggling to find Henry (evidenced by her ‘I was feeling good’ line). Neal comes back into her life again & boom, Emma is upset …. again (& so is Killian) *sigh*
@MysteryKat – loved your thoughts, especially the Han and Leia parallels which I hadn’t even noticed!!!!! 🙂
I got annoyed in the chat early when people kept insisting that Hook is the character to die because Colin is getting his own pilot or they just want Hook dead
LOL! I mean, did they miss the part where the producers and the fans LOVE Colin and that he brought up the ratings from 3×04? Did they miss the fact that Colin said he hopes to play Hook for “a long time”? Did they miss the fact that (apparently!) Colin moved his family to Vancouver to do the show? I mean, that’s not something you do lightly. And, being an Irish person myself, there aren’t many of us who enjoy the limelight (like 99% of us really), so I think Colin would FAR prefer to do a show where the limelight is shared among many main characters than to have a show where he himself is the main forerunner.
Also if people (i’m assuming STers) want Hook to die, then they’re having, you know, VERY serious doubts about their own ship. Which they should. Cos… er…. it’s not going so well. Having Hook die and Emma getting with Neal that way would be a VERY cheap way to show TL. Just saying.
ALSO if these people want Hook to die then it just reiterates to me that they don’t care about Emma at all. One thing i’m so proud of is that all CSers obviously all HUGE Emma fans (I’m a huge Killian fan too but Emma – she’s first and foremost for me). But the other ships… well…. if they want Hook to die, don’t they see that this would be nothing more than a HUGE emotional set-back for Emma? I mean, do they WANT Emma to suffer any more than she already has? Clearly they don’t think or care about her one whit.
And I find it funny that we’ve all said here (well maybe not you @obisgirl lol) that we want Neal to have his happy ending, but not with Emma. I mean, we don’t want Neal to die, because, like I said, that would be a cheap victory for CS. In fact the only one who seems to want Neal dead is…. er…. Emma herself. A.w.k.w.a.r.d.
I’ll move past it though I really hope Captain Swan can win I keep thinking that the fanbase at large will support us but I guess it’s unrealistic to think people will actually think show before ship, it’ll be on the strength of our fellow shipmates!
It’s sad, but yeah, unrealistic. I mean, we can try our best but the truth is we’re up against very strong competition! The fact that we got nominated is something i’m absolutely delighted with anyway, and it’s something that will warm me everytime I think about it.
I don’t understand how people can still hate on Hook after seeing his backstory in “Good Form.” I guess ST’ers feel threatened that they’re ‘shipping a dying ‘ship. which they are..
Unfortunately for them, yes. I do feel sorry for them, but… er… the clues are all there and we’ve been spotting them for a looooooong time. We’ve interpreted everything correctly 9 out of 10 times, whereas they’ve interpreted everything Incorrectly about 9 out of 10 times. I see no reason for that to change. So when the time comes and CS is proven to be TL, I won’t be feeling much sympathy. Especially after all the bullying we’re getting.
On a different subject, the most ridiculous rumor I’ve seen pop up is that we paid People’s Choice Awards to nominate Hook/Emma for Best On-Screen Chemistry. It’s a big joke on tumblr right now, how we bribed them.

^^^^^^^THIS. Such a good point. And I totally get what you’re feeling – I watched Good Form and Ariel back to back last night and it was painful. To see Emma going from playful, challenging, “feeling good”, taking a break for one MINUTE from all her worries to an Emma who was miserable, wanted her first love to be dead, and in so much pain…. AGH.

^^^^^great post! Thanks for that information about Colin would have been nice to have been able to fire back with that one earlier lol. Hook and Emma is just too much fun to kill off, I mean really they just got a PCA nomination would they end all that when things are just getting started? I say no way, they say “these are the same writers who killed of Graham and he was more popular.” That just Echo’s of dilution, Graham was a very well liked character through seven episodes! Hook has had the season 2 DVD release promoted around him, boosted the ratings with his backstory and has been at the center of a bunch of episodes already. Yet detractors will say that without his revenge he’s lived out his usefulness? They’re clearly just digging in to this whole CaptainSwanFire dynamic and the chemistry between Emma and Hook being award worthy and all No reason to just shelf that.

One more reason why Hook’s not going anywhere.
Okay I have some time to go through some thoughts.
So basically we bookended the episode with Hook doing his best to NOT give her false hope and being willing to go off and rescue Neal with Charming’s help to make sure that Pan wasn’t lying (even though he hasn’t been), and we ended it with Neal saying he could definitely get them out of NL which is what everybody is counting on him doing, only he JUST learned not long ago that he DIDN’T escape, Pan LET him go. *throws something*
I have to say, this glaring omission bothered me too. Not as much as his “nevergoingtostopfightingforyouneverdidimentioniwon’tleaveyoualoneeventhoughyouwanttomoveon* though. Anyway, i’m fairly sure that he WON’T be getting them back home. I think we’re going to see the sextant and the JR flying to get them home. But that could just be shipper goggles…. i certainly WANT that to happen… lol.
funny how both Hook’s and Emma’s secrets were about wanting to move on and find a new love and get over their 1st loves…
Lol, i know right?… it’s almost as if they’re kindred spirits, understand one another, are TL etc.
Secondly, she just told him how much pain she felt seeing him and how she wants to move on so he made it all about him and how he doesn’t want to let her go.
Yup, this is pretty much how we’re seeing it too. Of course SFers think it’s romantic. BS, in my opinion.
Before this Neal has been “I didn’t get to tell her I love her when I should have” (which makes NO sense since he’s said it back when she’s said it before
YES i made this point a few pages back. In the cave SHE TOLD HIM SHE LOVED HIM and he didn’t say it back. What happened to all the regrets, eh Neal? What happened?
This was absolutely deliberate on the part of the writers. I mean, if there was EVER a time for Neal to make his declaration, it was then. It could have been made romantic in a way. Nothing that could negate Emma’s pain obviously, but SOMETHING to start Swanfire in the right direction again. But that wasn’t the writers intention, and the writers, by the way, were Adam and Eddy themselves. This was hyped up to be a Swanfire reunion episode, but it wasn’t actually about them, it was about Emma’s and Killian’s reactions to the reunion, as evidenced by the focus on their emotional reactions to everything.
Neal is soon going to see the connection between Emma and Killian, and then he will probably pipe up with “I love you Emma!”. But it will be absolutely meaningless now, because he didn’t say it when he first saw her, didn’t say it when he felt that she was still “his” (because she did say she loved him at the portal).
This episode, with the parallel of Emma and Milah, just kind of backs up for me the whole possible Neal-going-dark theory. The triangle seems to be directly paralleling that of Milah/Rumple/Killian. I’m hoping that Neal will be the one to eventually break the cycle if this happens – by accepting Emma’s choice. Anyway, this is just speculation, but I believe his reaction to the CS kiss will show which way his character is going to go.
She just said her deepest darkest secret is that she wishes you were dead so she wouldn’t have to relive all that pain you put her through and she wants to move on with her life and put you behind her (way to go Emma!), and ALL you can say about it is you’re not gonna give her up?
YES. She may have said it pretty politely, but she still explicity said that she hoped he was dead rather than have him back in her life. I mean, she even then REITERATED what she said outside the cave when she said she can’t change how she feels. Not won’t – can’t, implying that even if she wanted to, she isn’t able to.
Neal is basically saying “I’m never gonna leave you alone or let you choose.”
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I SAID I FELT HE HAD SAID THAT TOO. The whole “never going to stop fighting for you” just came off as very creepy, very pushy, very possessive to me.
It’s going to be soooo interesting to see how he reacts to the CS kiss.

THE TRIANGLE is more about past vs future than it is about the two guys. Otherwise there’s not much point to it, especially in a season where they’re confronting their pasts and moving forward.

Tallahassee set up the triangle but it wasn’t Hook vs Neal, it was Emma dealing with her past and whether she’d let it continue to destroy her future.

Both guys can talk until they’re blue in the face but as of right now, only one is saying “I want you to be happy no matter how much it hurts me” and I think we ALL know which one that is.

We expect him to fight for what he wants but I think his fighting for it is very subtle: he’s letting his actions speak for him.
Absolutely. At this point, I think Killian is going to waaaay back off until he sees that Neal can’t/won’t make Emma happy. I said this before some time back. He respects her choices, and at the moment he is seeing Neal as her choice. I mean, far from stopping them from being together, he facilitated it. But the minute Emma acknowledges her feelings for him, to him, he’s going to fight for her. If she wants him, he will defend her choice, and i’d expect nothing less.
The way they framed everything showing Hook’s pain in all of this shows me more than ever that Neal is the OBSTACLE for CaptainSwan and not the other way around. Otherwise they would have had the caves echo so that everyone would hear everyone’s secrets, and we would have been shown Neal’s reaction to what Hook said to Emma.

But the Emma we met in S1 was very adamant that actions speak louder than words, making a CHOICE means something, and that going back to someone you didn’t really want to be with was the “safe” and “easy” choice (when talking about Graham and Regina) but not the RIGHT choice.
*GROSS SOBBING* we’ve been saying this, and we know choice is a CS theme, and you’re killing me
I’ve seen so many say that Hook losing the girl to Neal would be “character growth” for him, for handing her over and not “keeping” her like he did with Milah and I just want to throw something.
Ugh. Anyone who says that Killian should back off because of Bae is ridiculous, he’ll back off if Neal is Emma’s choice, but not otherwise. And it just goes to show that a lot of the people who say that? ….are just like Neal and want to take away people’s agency and detract from their choices. Not to mention that it would be totally OOC if Killian backs off. It’s not Killian’s responsibility to make Neal happy, that’s Neal’s job. Killian’s character does NOT revolve around Bae or Milah anymore. It revolves around Emma, and by extension, the Charmings, Regina, Henry and Neal. It would be a complete character regression if he were to back off because of his history with Neal, and I have faith that A+E don’t write bad characters (apart from Neal, but convinced that’s deliberate).
It would be completely out of character to revert back to her 17 year old self and eliminate who she is now when that’s actually appreciated by someone who is done living in the past and is right in front of her. Especially since she just admitted that she wants to put the past behind her and that would be easier to do with Neal dead. (Sorry but big epic reunion of TL shouldn’t be “I wish you were dead” – not exactly something to root for when we’ve seen everybody else FALL APART when their TL is perceived to be dead). One of these things is not like the other…. VIVA LA CAPTAIN SWAN!

Another thing i just want to mention very quickly:
Killian’s declaration of love. He didn’t say “I love you” but it was CLEARLY implied, and anyone who says otherwise… may need to get their brain rewired. Anyway, I just wanted to emphasise that he didn’t actually use the words “I love you” for a reason – A+E are keeping it for a big moment.
