I think that’s why he is so intent on defending Tamara to Emma up until hard evidence comes in the picture (in the form of a bullet….). He doesn’t want to make the same mistake twice. He wants to fight for Tamara like he should have fought for Emma.
Excellent observation.
And now we have the present. The problem with Neal’s decision to fight for Emma NOW is that she’s not that same person that she was back when they were together.
This is what I’ve been saying all along and why SF can’t work now. 10 years is a long time for any couple to be separated. You can’t rekindle a romance here. People grow up, Emma was forced to grow up and become the person she is now and the person she is, doesn’t want to feel hurt again by Neal’s actions. I don’t blame her.
Fighting for Emma is Neal’s version of Rumple trying to offer to make Neal 14 again.
I love this line the most. It’s a double-standard. Neal refuses to reconcile with his father and even shouts to him that he isn’t Baelfire anymore, he’s Neal. He wants to escape his past, where his father is concerned but when it comes to Emma, he thinks they can be good together still.
But again, it’s not going to work that way with Emma. She’s carried around the scars of what Neal did to her. She forgave him but you can forgive a person and not forget what they did and in most cases, when the hurt is so deep that it causes you isolate yourself from falling in love again, a relationship again with the same person isn’t going to make those original scars go away.
Emma needs a fresh start guys. She needs someone who loves her for the person she is now, not 10 years ago. She needs someone who will always fight her, treat her as an equal, someone who understands her needs and feelings (again, now). Someone who will always come back for her.
This person is Killian Jones.

Yeah, i agree, I mean, he even told Tamara about the fairy tale universe. That’s not something you do unless you’re serious about them IMO. Giving her that information was giving her a lot of power.

Completely 100% agree. It was Neal himself that catalysed the changes in her. This is also one of the biggest reasons why i think RegalArrow (or whatever it’s called lol) won’t work now. When Robin was Regina’s potential TL, she hadn’t yet immersed herself into her persona of The Evil Queen, hadn’t even killed anyone. Her heart was pure(ish). And Robin had not yet met Maid Marian and had a son – parenthood changes a person. I’m still holding out hope for Queenfire though 🙂 I mean, the way they VERY OBVIOUSLY removed Regina from the group last episode? Coincidentally just before Neal came back? Yeah, like i’m saying, i have hope for them. I think they could bring out the best in each other.

I know this is not a RegalHood thread but since I’ve been working on my really long True Love meta (just finished working on the soulmates portion that covers RegalHood), I think they can work together as a couple now. Because being a parent does change you and we’ve seen, that Regina truly loves Henry and Robin truly loves his son. That love isn’t the same as true love but it’s a starting point, for Regina to embrace true love again in her life and become a good person again.
To make a truly CS post, I wrote a meta last night because I finally saw the episode.
And I know I always blab about my 41 year old opinion but I have a personal opinion as well.

For the record I’m a big fan of things belonging to just one ship. It’s kind of a big deal for me in most circumstances and one of the reasons I didn’t *love* the coconut map (even though it is kinda brilliant and cool) is because it started making coconuts symbolic of SF right after we had the coconut scene for CS. So I totally get why anybody would flip out about Hook & Emma spending time together in the bug (for whatever reason) because that’s considered a SF thing because that’s how they met etc, but it is ALSO a CORE PART of EMMA and, like Neal, a part of her past that isn’t going away even if she moves on with someone else.
*shrugs* I’m not really bothered about the coc0nut if i’m honest! And yeah, while i get that the bug is a SF thing, it’s been EMMA’S thing for far longer now. Like, I don’t think she associates it with Neal at all anymore. She has never mentioned to anyone that that’s how they met. He didn’t bring up the bug when he came to SB. I don’t know.
Yay for new scenes & hopefully lots of bonding time in the bug! Can’t imagine where they’d be driving to or why they’re in the car but so happy to know they’re still filming together and closely at that! Most of the spoiler pics these days have been group shots but this is actually Emma alone with Hook in her bug! YAY! Guess they’re still on good terms then!
YAY for any and all CS scenes. To be honest, i really do think that they’re going on a date. I mean, if *stuff* was going down why would Killian be leisurely opening the door for her? At least it looks like he does. Ugh, i don’t want to wish away any episodes, BUT I NEED IT NOW.

Honestly? I’m expecting it (i can’t call it a triangle because IMO it isn’t, not a fully fledged one)to be over sooner rather than later. Especially when you consider what Emma said to Neal last week…

Like, i can’t get over that kiss still, and how important it was that they showed us Captain Swan’s first kiss and we never saw Swanfire’s. I mean that is soooo significant.

To me it makes perfect sense for them to search for the Home Office in the real world. Not without Emma dressing up a little – she knows she’s going to be with Killian, so she wants to look good of course. That is what women do when they are in love with someone, even if she didn’t need to actually cause he likes her and thinks she’s BEAUTIFUL either way. 🙂 Happy right now.
