@polythenepam – I agree with everything you said! Except that Killian starts the silly behaviour. Because IMO it was actually Neal lol with his “thanks but she’s got me now”. It was that snarky line that prompted Emma to ask Killian what was up. But both men were equally silly in this episode (although it was quite amusing in an embarrassing sort of way) and i think that it is the last we will see of any of those silly triangle antics. I think A+E put that lighter scene purposely there to draw attention to the ridiculousness of it.
I agree. I actually meant the starting off to indicate Killian lapsing into something inane and beginning his own personal descent into mindless idiocy. Did not think it would be taken as .. he started it the fight between him and Neal! I agree with what most of you say, they effectively ridiculed the “triangle” plot with that lighter fight and this is probably the last we’ve seen of it.
Did anyone notice that Neal didn’t say he loved Emma a single time after he was re-united with her? He asked Aurora to give her that message when she attempted to get into the Room of Fire, but has never said it to her himself. He said he’s fight for her, yes, but not that he loves her or has never stopped loving her. He never said the words Emma said to him back to her. And that disbelief in his eyes when he sees her using magic and the immediate withdrawal after that (his comment about Henry being the only good thing that came from them being together) makes me think that the only triangle we’ll be seeing will be between Emma and her walls and Killian trying to break past them and prove how much he loves her. I’m guessing the entire next half of the season will be Killian doing just that and Emma slowly realizing how different he is from Neal. Wouldn’t any kiss of Emma’s be a true love kiss though because Emma is true love personified? Hence why she was able to wake Henry and why her kiss brought back Graham’s memories. There was even the suggestion during season 1 that Emma should open a kissing booth and kiss the entire town to break the curse.
So a kiss between CS or SF wouldn’t necessarily mean it was true love.

This is an interesting point. But Emma could also only break the curse with her kiss because it was Snowings “TL potion” that Rumple placed on the parchment of the curse – that’s what made her the saviour. I don’t know – it’s a hard one to call. I’m pretty sure the writers will clarify for us though, they don’t want to drag this triangle out, that was made pretty obvious by the lighter scene IMO, lol!

Yeah, i get you. And 99% of the time i DON’T buy into the rubbish. But every so often the Hook-hate and hypocrisy will get to me.
Like, some of the other side will call Killian a rapist, with no logical reasoning or canon foundation to support that, and yet, don’t judge Neal for impregnating a minor, which has been confirmed as canon. Some of them say that Killian is “forcing” decisions on Emma, but don’t talk about how Neal disregarded her decision in 3×04 to move on. They say that Killian somehow manipulated Emma into kissing him, and yet completely ignore the fact that Emma herself said to her mother that she “kissed Hook” and thus implied that she made a choice. They talk about how Killian was trying to sabotage Swanfire by telling Neal about the kiss, and yet completely ignore the fact that Emma didn’t tell Neal herself. They say that there is no legitimate connection between Captain Swan, even though there are a dozen articles/interviews with writers/actors that emphasise the opposite. They say that Emma has no feelings for Killian, despite JMo herself saying several times that she has feelings for both Killian and Neal. They say that Killian has a “crush” on Emma, and yet ignore the fact that Colin himself has basically admitted that “As you wish” was exactly what we thought it was, and Killian himself has declared that Milah was his “first” love. They say that WE overanalyse everything and yet, then they talk about what Emma “actually meant” in the cave.
Ugh. The hypocrisy/ignorance exhausts and astounds me.

YUP I did notice that. We talked about it a good few pages ago. A very deliberate decision by the writers. They probably didn’t want to overshadow Killian’s declaration!!!

And I think this explains the kind of weird Snow behavior in NL. I don’t think Snow has been able to relate to Emma at all when it comes to relationships since the curse has broken because she is now back to her EF view of True Love, whereas before the curse was broken and MM and Emma would have relationship discussions they were BOTH kind of jaded by the real world and could relate to each other.
I do think Snow is starting to recognize this though – especially since Killian saved David and since she heard Killian’s secret.
The thing about Emma is that she is able to adapt really well. So even though she has lived in the real world she has adapted really well to dealing with all the fairy tale stuff. But that doesn’t change that at her core she is still someone who has been raised in the real world and automatically sees thing through real world glasses. I think that is one of the problems I have with saying that Emma should end up with Neal because that’s the fairy tale version of her happy ending. I think Emma can still get her happy ending without it looking like an EF version of a fairy tale like Snow expects that it should.
I think the happiest ending for Emma is finding someone who makes her happy and makes her feel loved and, like she told Snow when they were in her nursery in the EF – someone who puts her first. That means she needs someone who can relate to her losses and understands what her life has been like. Killian has told her and has proven to her that he can read her like a book. He recognized right away that she had trust issues and made a big deal about making “trust” important between them – including believing and respecting her “superpower” and understanding that he was going to have to earn her trust.
He understands that because of her past issues actions speak louder than words with Emma so he knows that he needs to show her the kind of man he can be for her. But he also knows that he does need to make it very clear that he intends to fight for and win her, since no one has really done that for her before. In the past everyone has told Emma that the way they showed their love and concern for her was to leave or abandon her!!! They have ALL said that they did it for her own good, even though they didn’t WANT to. It doesn’t help someone who has abandonment issues to hear that. The good part is that Emma is recognizing that he already has been fighting for her – everything he has done after returning to SB and taking them to NV has been for HER. I think it is difficult for her to comprehend it, just like it was difficult for her to understand having someone put her first when she and Snow where in her nursery in the EF. But because he is being consistent, I think she is starting to see it. And since they were obviously attracted to each other from the beginning, I think she is allowing herself to say that it is okay for herself to let her walls down with him – that he safe, that he is proving himself to her.
I think Emma is perfect for Killian because he also needs someone who understands the amount of loss he has had in his life and just like with Rumple – he needs someone who makes him realize that he wants to go back to being a better man. But more importantly, I think Killian needs Emma because he needs someone who is a mixture of the real world and the EF. Since “the pirate thing” makes Killian what I call “street smart” I think he needs someone who can be an equal with him in that regard so that “the pirate thing” really isn’t an issue. Emma is the only person who can relate to both “sides” of Killian in a non-judgemental way.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Neal has any idea what he really wants right now. And I don’t think this is his fault. He has also suffered tremendous loss throughout his life and dealt with enormous emotional and psychological issues in NL and with his father – and now he is having to face them all over again. He just discovered he has a son, he was just found by his father, he just found out his fiancé was a murderous psychopath who tried to kill him, he just found out his ex was hoping he was dead, he HATES magic and he just found out his first love and baby momma is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming and uses magic herself. At least Emma has had some more time to deal with some of the more shocking aspects of her life. I’m concerned that Neal is not in a place where he can make a decision about what he really wants which means that Emma is likely to get burned by him again.

Yes. This is what Emma Swan needs. And while Neal has the best intentions in wanting to get their son back, he will always put Henry before Emma. He did it when he stuck around in SB for Henry. He did it when he let go of Emma’s hand at the portal. He did it when he went after Henry in 3×04 before letting Emma know that he was alive. It’s not a bad thing that he puts Henry first. But he doesn’t put Emma’s happiness first and foremost, and this is one of the principle reasons why SF won’t work, because Emma herself has basically said that’s what she needs.
Even if Killian weren’t in the picture, i would NEVER ship Swanfire.

Agreed. Both Emma and Killian have suffered a lot of pain over their first loves. And yes – agreed with your point on redemption. Because TL brings out the best in people. No-one exemplifies that more than Belle/Rumple and Emma/Killian.
