ParticipantNot much to talk about CS wise this ep- other than Emma going to Killian for answers again & that fantastic moment that Charming gives Killian a sword- loving that particular bromance haha 🙂 Must admit I did like the fact they only had Henry’s (3) parents there for him in the end- it was very fitting, so I’m not bummed out or going to complain about less Killian & CS scenes this ep, although I really do hope we get some next ep, as this ep felt kind of flat for me- although I was surprised when it finished- didnt feel like a full 40 something mins had passed lol

ParticipantOk, so I just have to say that this episode was AMAZING! It was SO interesting and heartbreaking to get Rumple’s backstory and even to learn who Peter Pan truly is. Crazy but awesome! Even though it wasn’t a CS centric episode, there was a little moment between them that I enjoyed seeing. It’s really telling to me that the writers are making sure that each episode so far this season has some type of interaction between Hook and Emma. This episode, of course, was no different.
I really liked that Emma asked Hook about his brother in an effort to save her father from having to stay in Neverland. The way she kindly noted that she knew it would be difficult for him to talk about it (or something like that) was very considerate of her. I hope we get to see more of her reaching out to him for advice/help or even just to learn more about who he is.

YES! This was GREAT! I also really love that bromance!

ParticipantLoved all the CaptainCharming stuff! Not only did we get the scene with the sword (and keep in mind, Neal hasn’t had a weapon this whole time but Hook just got his taken away and THAT’s who Charming tosses a sword to), but we also learn that Charming told Emma about Liam!!! LOVE IT – wish we could have seen her reaction to that story though but still, yay! Why bother making him even MORE likable by telling her that? There’s no point to him passing along that info!
We got Emma going to Hook for answers again, him being so sure it was impossible and not wanting her to get too hyped up about it happening (false hope is BAD and he knows the pain that goes along with it), and then on top of that we have a reverse bonding attempt! This time EMMA was the one desperately trying to bond with Hook by mentioning Liam and he brushed her off with it but we know he still cares, it’s just one of HIS walls that had to be extremely tough on him to open up to Charming about in the first place but it was necessary then. He’s hurting too so it’ll take time for both of them to completely open up but yay for Emma knowing more about his backstory and I’m sure they’ll talk about something sometime soon.
Then there’s the green glow. I wrote about it on tumblr but in some ways, it’s mildly reminiscent of the purple smoke when the magic was brought back to Storybrooke but with some interesting differences. While they made a point to show us where everybody was / what they were doing / who they were with at the time that this happened, we had Emma & Neal – staggered back and away from each other slightly. Hook/Tink – same thing. Snowing? Snowing BARELY MOVED and then clasped hands. Out of those 3, we saw ONE true love pairing and that’s how they behaved. It was different for a reason!
The heart thing – not celebrating anything cause a) poor Henry! and b) he had to take it himself and we don’t know if Emma can take hers or not. So I don’t see it as proof one way or the other for anything.
Team Parents! I was totally fine with it just being Rumple + Emma/Regina/Neal. It made complete sense. It was also great to see that Hook is doing what Emma needs him to (again) by volunteering to hold down the fort with the lost boys. She needed to leave someone behind she could trust and he recognized that it was more important for him to stay there with Tink and let Emma go off (yes, even with Neal) to save their son. She’s made it clear that nothing is going to happen until Henry is safe and he trusts her enough to let her go do what she needs to do and isn’t even worried about Neal right now – and even if he was, he didn’t let it stop him from volunteering to be what she needs in that moment.
Now that Hook and Tink are by themselves and that green glow has affected them, I really hope that we do get a little insight into what Hook’s thinking. Tink is an old friend and she’s observed Hook and Emma interact before so I’m pretty sure she knows what’s up. I’d love for her to take the opportunity to find out where his head is right now. They didn’t show us any of their interaction alone at camp because it wasn’t important then, but we may either hear from one later that the other said something, or more likely, Tink will pick up on some worry on Hook’s face and we’ll get a moment of him spilling to her what he feels for Emma or perhaps a nice little “she’s fine. I can feel it” type moment like we have when Snowing have been separated in the past which would be nice too! Either way, so not worried about Tink and Hook, their history, their friendship, any of it. If anything, Tink is the Cora to RumBelle so NOT AN ISSUE! Also again, they didn’t gravitate toward each other after the green glow and neither did Neal/Emma. Only Snowing did that.
TWO WEEKS? TWO WEEKS? Having major withdrawal already and this is the tiniest of breaks possible. Ugh! I can’t even concentrate enough right now after that amazing episode to tackle the promo so will have to come back with thoughts later on. For now let us just enjoy the fact that:
- Emma found a way to get David home with them – if she hadn’t stopped Hook, Rumple and Neal wouldn’t have overheard and offered the solution
- Emma told Snowing that “We’re all going back home, together” and then side-eyes Hook. I’m sorry, there was NOBODY ELSE over there and there’s no way she was looking at Tink. Just saying…
- Even in episodes with very little interaction, their eyes and actions say it all. They were perfect mirrors of each other in this episode. Hook has done exactly as she asked and is focusing on the mission and how he can help with it.
- The Jolly Roger will be fixed soon. YAY! Interested to see who actually fixes it – hoping for Emma of course!
- Looks like there are stray lost boys on the ship but we knew that from various pics of it arriving in Storybrooke so it’ll be a full ship by the time they’re ready to go and it appears to be flying in the promo – yay!!!
Literally the only crack in Hook’s armor tonight was in trying to distance himself a little from Emma when she wanted to talk (Snowing parallel!) and not wanting to open up about his brother’s death aka his painful past. We’ve seen Emma do this to him enough times so it’s totally fine, especially since in distancing himself, he’s better able to help for now but he still supports her and listens every chance he gets. In other words – HE’S NOT PUSHING HER.
Seriously waiting for the moment when Hook and Emma are back together! He didn’t get a chance to say anything to her before the group split up AT ALL. We just saw him watching her, and she definitely glanced at him during her “we’re all going back home together” speech, but we never got to see them say goodbye as the group split up so they’re bound to be relieved seeing the other is alright.
No idea how the girls get tied up or have to face Pan. Glad they still manage to surprise us with some stuff!
DarlingFire! Loved that reunion but it was interesting that it had nothing to do with Emma at all. Rumple hadn’t mentioned he was supposed to save Wendy, Neal had NO IDEA she was there, and Emma took off running cause she heard the scream. Literally from the moment that she stepped aside so that Neal could see Wendy better she was nonexistent in that scene which is…not what I expected. I saw a lot of SF headcanon that it would be a way to show Emma more about Bae’s life and I fully expected it to try and ramp the triangle back up a bit since they show Hook’s reaction to almost every single Neal/Emma scene, but this was just about Wendy and Bae’s family reunion and Emma’s reactions weren’t really shown at all to it other than him knowing Wendy. Not gonna lie – I was happy that there wasn’t really any triangle drama in this but again, just goes to show what we’ve been saying all along given how they frame things.
There were plenty of moments tonight where Emma was next to Neal and Snowing, but again, Neal was upset seeing her do magic – though he didn’t say anything because it was important to get them to their kid at the time (the look on his face when Regina said it was time to see what Emma learned was telling though) and then again when Rumple showed up with Regina and he acted like it was Emma’s fault for hiding things from him. They work well as a team and I wasn’t annoyed at all that Team Parents was working together and I definitely want more of that for sure! Nothing in there screamed positive SF to me though so I’m not worried. I will always love it MORE when there’s lots of CS goodness, but there’s something to be said for enjoying the simple aspects too – like trusting each other without a word and doing what needs to be done. I love the SHOW first and my ship a very very very close second. Besides, we have their reunion to look forward to now! (And possibly some Hook/Tink talking about what Hook feels!)
Stupid AMAs, messing with my Once Upon A Time fix. Sigh – 2 weeks, we can do this!

ParticipantAgreeing with all thoughts guys!! 🙂 the backstory fell a bit flat with me this week, but possibly just because i really didn’t like Rumple’s father. LOVED the Shadow though. He’s obviously going to be the big bad in 3B because where in the heck did he come from?
I’m glad they took a much needed break from the CSF triangle after the lighter scene last week. Everybody was just focussed on the whole #SaveHenry thing!
I was happy with the CS we got in the episode, because overall it was still more meaningful than the SF parts lol. Emma went to Killian to ask for help about David. She tried to BOND with him. She TOUCHED him. And she was talking with Charming about him when he wasn’t around. And, well, it’s clear that David is in Killian’s corner lol – he gave him his sword even though Neal didn’t have one either. He talked about him with Emma.
Loved Killian’s line: “meet you at the JR when you get Henry” – again showing his absolute faith in her, no doubt that she’ll save her son! Loved the fact that his walls are in evidence in the episode as well – Emma isn’t the only one with them. And it’s great. They’re going to tear down each others walls together! *sobs*
On the Henry’s heart thing, I would make the argument that having the HoTTB is who he is, it’s his personality, it’s about Henry’s belief. I don’t think he’s a product of TL anyway lol. And the fact that his heart COULD be removed – and with Pan’s magic no less – means that he isn’t.
Got a teensy bit annoyed with Neal, but I already knew I would be from the sneak, but his first reaction to seeing his Rumple and Regina was to rebuke Emma for not telling him? Really?

ParticipantYou know what I loved about this backstory? That it didn’t make Peter Pan into a sympathetic character, it made him more evil. He was selfish as an adult wanted no responsibility and so he gave up his own son for his own selfish means and now it seems has planned to sacrifice his own great-grandson for hundreds of years of the same reason. I thought it was appropriate for Henry to have all three of his parents there trying to help him. The bit with Hook and Charming has me about ready to say he’s a new crew member to the CaptainSwan ship. The part when Emma tries to ask Killian about his brother was interesting to as it was a role reversal Emma trying to get inside Hook’s walls as oppose to the other way around.

I am absolutely LOVING Peter Pan, i’m glad that they finally have a villain for a villains sake, rather than him having a sympathetic back story!

Oh definitely, I definitely agree, it was perfect, very well done.
Some SFers are saying that the wave of magic that shot out from Pan was the TL magic but it wasn’t. The TL wave is a rainbow, whereas this was quite obviously green. So no worries shipmates! 🙂

I’m thinking Killian wants to kiss her goodbye too………………….
ETA:
It just killed me the great effort Killian was doing here. Of course he’d like to go with her, to protect her, to be sure nobody will hurt her. But he understands that would be selfish, as this mission is about bringing Henry back and, consequently, it’s his family who must go look for him, the people he loves and trusts. Hook knows that, this time, the best way to help Emma is to stay behind and ensure they’ll be ready to get off the island, though let her go, knowing she’ll be in danger, is almost unbearable. So I think that, when Charming kisses his daughter’s forehead to say goodbye, he’d also like to have such chance, to get swept along by his emotions and convey his concern, having a proper farewell. But he can’t, and just to see how it kills him was killing me too in the process 🙁
GAH KILL ME WITH FEELS WHY DON’T YOU

ParticipantI am watching the ep again. Something feels “off” to me about Neal.
Neal tries to convince everyone that Rumple wants to kill Henry.
When that doesn’t work he convinces Rumple to give him Pandora’s box and tells him he can’t use any magic. Yet Emma has used magic and although he hasn’t been thrilled he seems to accept it. When Rumple makes the comment about being the most powerful one there – Neal says that is why they should be concerned. So Neal is fine with Emma using magic since it’s not all that powerful yet but he firmly warns dad not to use his super powerful magic. We see Rumple hesitate in giving Neal Pandora’s box and then we have the scene where young Rumple shows his father the bean and isn’t sure about letting his father have the bean because he is afraid he won’t use it for anything good. When they use parallels on the show they are NOT accidental.
We then see Rumple’s father toss the bean on the ground, just like Bae tosses the bean on the ground when Rumple let go of his hand – we now understand the significance of this scene.
When they are outside the Lost Boy’s Camp Rumple asks if he can at least use magic on the Lost Boys – Neal says no so Regina does it. Please help me here. Neal’s ultimate goal is to get his son back but he isn’t willing to use his father’s power to it’s advantage to HELP in the process??? Something isn’t right. It seems like Neal is attempting to stop the use of magic in the progression toward to Henry.
Go back to the last episode. Neal takes Emma and Hook to Dark Hallow and “attempts” to light the candle. He would probably know that Hook doesn’t know how to use a lighter and he gives him about a nanosecond to try before the lighter flies through the air. Then suddenly when it seems like there is no hope for the candle to be lit, the shadows – and how convenient, 3 of them – appear. And Neal tells Emma to save herself, meaning run and leave. How was she supposed to do that? Wouldn’t the 3rd shadow have gotten her just as easily as Neal and Hook? Yes, unless the plan was never for the 3rd shadow to actually attack Emma. To Neal’s surprise Regina has been teaching Emma magic and she has been able to light the candle on her own.
When Snow thanks Rumple for being able to cure David of the DreamShade poisoning when they get back to SB, Rumple says “Well appearantly that’s all the thanks I need these days” implying that Neal wouldn’t allow him to make a deal for the cure. Right after he says this the camera shows Neal deep in thought holding on tight to Pandora’s box. I don’t think that is an accidental scene.
Then when they get to the cave suddenly Neal decides that Rumple isn’t a threat anymore because he doesn’t have a shadow and can get through the protection charm?? So now he decides to just hand over Pandora’s Box with no trust issues at ALL and Regina, who had trusted him and helped him all along UNTIL Neal made her question him, is still concerned?? Sorry but that makes no sense to me at all.
When Emma and Regina are trying to Eclipse the moon, I don’t think Neal looks to happy about it when he moves behind them. In fact I think he looks like “This wasn’t part of the plan.”
When Rumple and PP are talking, listen to what Rumple says when PP is asking him to stay with and telling him they could make a new start. If you changed out the characters and had Rumple say PP’s lines and had Neal say Rumple’s lines, it would still make perfect sense.
The only time during the entire Rumple/PP speech that PP looks bothered is when Rumple tells PP that he is nothing like PP because he searched for his son the entire time after he lost him. In fact, PP looks surprised by this because there is no way he could have known this information while Bae was on the island.
Pandora’s Box – when Rumple can’t get the box to work he says that PP switched the boxes BUT PP tells Rumple “In NL all you have to do is think of something to have it – even something fake.” Well, Rumple certainly didn’t think of a fake Pandora’s box – and who had been carrying around the box and gave it to Rumple before he went into the cave?? Neal!!! And notice right before Rumple tries to make the box work he said “Oh, I’m gonna make a fresh start all right, just not with you.” Again, something that if Neal said it to Rumple would also make perfect sense.
And how would PP have known that Pandora’s Box made it back to Neverland in the first place? John and Michael are now working with Belle so I doubt they would have told him they found it and it is on the way back. It seems like he would need someone ON the island to warn him.
I don’t necessarily think I’m willing to go so far as to say that Neal isn’t trying to #SaveHenry (yet). But this is one seriously messed up family although it appears that the level of fatherly abandonment does seem to decrease somewhat through the generations. But it seems to me that Neal is so unable to forgive his father that his judgement is seriously clouded to the point that his decision making is affecting Henry’s rescue.
I have no problem with Neal wanting Rumple to give up being the DO (not sure if he can voluntarily do that though) or with him wanting him to give up magic. But it seems like now would NOT be the time to insist on it if you really cared about saving your son. It just seems to be a either a personal jab because Neal can just NOT forgive Rumple and he is TRYING to turn everyone against Rumple and is maybe using Pan to help him get Rumple out of his life or my more sadly sinister thought it that maybe Neal is following in PP footsteps and has decided that, like Rumple’s father, he was never meant to be a dad and maybe he wants to go back to having no responsibilities again. Which seems odd since he told Rumple he didn’t want to go back to being 14 again. But then again, I still find it strange that they brought Wendy back so young and have Neal so much older.
