I’ve been hearing a lot of people state that Neal and Emma are going to be the “endgame”. I get why people like them together. He’s the father of her child. He’s her first love. I admire and definitely think there is something beautiful about first love. However, I would be disappointed if they ended up together, and it is not just because I think that Emma and Hook are a better match for each other.

The show constantly reiterates the “first love” in most of the relationships on the show and often states that your first love is who you are meant to be with. Look at Snow and Charming or Regina and Daniel, Belle, and perhaps Rumpel (the jury is out on this one – I’m not really sure if he was truly in love with Milah or Cora). From a creative sense, I think they need to show that sometimes love happens again and that maybe your first love is not exactly your true love. In the real world, some people get a second chance and find love after losing their first love. That (and many other reasons) is why I would enjoy seeing the Emma and Hook romantic relationship explored.

That is my two cents. I don’t write the show but they must be doing a good job if they got me thinking about the characters outside of viewing it. 🙂

I would really like it if that distinction were made on the show. From a fairytale land perspective, once you meet your True Love, end of story. But that’s not how love works in the real world.

I think Adam and Eddie sort of made that distinction with the “choosing” interview that they gave awhile back.

I agree with obisgirl, I hope they are trying to distinguish that love in our world doesn’t work like it does in FTL

Whenever I think about my ‘first love’, I kind of laugh and think how silly I was 😆 after it ended I used to think of how I’d go back and change some things, but from the moment I met my current boyfriend, I never looked back and would not change a thing. First loves don’t always mean true love, especially in the real world, things don’t always work out, but they can also lead to much better things

also Hook isn’t exactly Neal’s ‘step-dad’, considering he’d have to be married to Milah for that to be real, and it WAS 300 years ago 😆 also Neal is technically older than both Snow and Charming 😆

I agree. Concentrating too much on the “first love” leaves no room for “new” love, or for step-families. I grew up with step-parents who I grew to love much as my own parents and learned a lot about the nature of “love” along the way. I think the experience made me a wiser person, and helped mature my outlook on the world I live in. I am hoping the writers will keep step-families in mind.

We haven’t seen Emma’s red jacket in a very long time. I think the last time we saw her wearing it was probably “The Queen of Hearts.”

No disrespect to you all, but honestly are we seriously shipping Hook and Emma? Seriously? I mean, yeah, Hook is super hot. But the show has made it pretty clear that you only get one soul mate, and Hook’s is dead. Plus, Hook plays dirty with all the women. He didn’t really love her, he was just being a player. And the fact that Hook is step-dad to the father of her son (seriously, the relationships in this are insane) makes this all just wrong. Guys, that’s like her sleeping with Gold! Eww! And anyway, she clearly belongs with Neal. In a show, when they want two characters to be together they start taking away the competition. Tamara is evil, Pinocchio is a kid (Graham is long dead) and Hook is nowhere to be seen.
    Plus, Hook is mine 😉

I got a couple of bones to pick with you.
Firstly, where has the show stated that Hook and Milah were true love? You tell me the specific scene or quote where it is stated. I’ll save you the time and let you know that you’re not going to find anything. They weren’t true love and therefore Hook is yet to find his true love. And you’ve contradicted yourself, you said that Milah was his true love and then you’ve said that he never really loved her..

As for Hook being step father – He isn’t. Were they ever married? No. And this was 300 years ago, I think it’s time for people to let this go. Even Adam said it’s time to let it go in the Paley Fest, it was 300 years ago.

As for ‘taking away the competition’ – I have no idea what you’re going on about. And Hook ‘nowhere to be seen’..? 😕 Have you watched the recent episode?

I’m sorry if I sound harsh, but all the points you have made aren’t valid.
And one last thing, was it extremely neccessary for you to say how much you don’t like Captain Swan and want Neal and Emma to happen instead on the Captain Swan thread? I’m sure Neal/Emma fans wouldn’t like it if I went on their thread and said how much CS is ‘endgame’ and Neal/Emma isn’t going to happen.

The connection between Hook and Emma is more than just superficial, and as mentioned by JMO herself, it’s undeniable

I agree with JollyRoger, whether Milah was Hook’s true love or not, they have never said that people can find love again 🙂

I have my reasons for not shipping Neal & Emma, simply because I personally could never ever get back with someone who deeply hurt me and betrayed me. Especially if they put me in jail! I know I can’t speak for everyone, but I think I’m not the only one who sees no sense in Emma returning to the person who hurt her on so many levels. I’m sure everyone has their reasons for shipping them, but I think it’s baloney to say it’s perfectly fine to get back with someone who sent you to jail 😆

@sarah_tn, @crazyfox, @obisgirl – Hopefully that’s the direction the writers are going towards. I just want them to not be predictable by pairing off Emma and Neal. We’ve already seen the “first love” bit over and over. They could do a lot with Emma and Hook paired.

So when do you think we’ll see some sort of Hook/Emma interaction? The drought has gone on long enough! Hopefully before the final episode?! (Those spoiler pics are making me excited) 😀
