ParticipantMy favorite moment is when they’re inside Neal’s cave and Emma starts to realize that she never really knew Neal, the real him, Bae. And Hook asks if she’s alright. He cares enough to take a moment and ask if she’s okay. Before that, when Hook remembers Milah and Emma looks at him, and she sees how much his weakness and Hook doesn’t want her to see that so he tries to hide himself.

Oh, good. I love when we do this. I requires me to rewatch the episode. And when my hubby asks me why I am watching it AGAIN, I have a very good answer . . . research!!
I will now go and do my very important research project and report back with my findings . . .

This one was hard, not one of my favorites so I didn’t keep it – only so much DVR space! – but my favorite is the scene in Neal’s cave when they find the coconut do-hickey. Before that, Emma and Hook have an exchange; Emma is realizing all the things she didn’t know about Neal and learning about the things Hook does know about Bae. Hook is seriously letting his guard down and Emma can see how much he cared about Bae. So much packed into about 30 seconds! What I really love about it though is at that moment, he’s actually not thinking about Emma, but about Bae and Milah and letting himself feel the losses, and you can see how much that simply amazes Emma.

ParticipantThat’s my favorite scene and I love how we can have two different takes on the same scene here.
I think Emma’s realizing how much she never really knew Neal and there’s a lot of history she doesn’t know, or is just figuring out but I love how you see Emma as being amazed by Hook, seeing him vulnerable and open with her.
And he is. It’s a big thing when he usually uses innuendo as his wall, to cover how he really feels.

ParticipantThat’s one of my favorite things about Hook with Emma – often he’s trying to hide behind his innuendo or acts playful to change the subject or tone of the conversation, but then he’ll totally let that guard down (Nasty Habits, Manhattan) and it’s intense.

ParticipantYup. I absolutely agree.

ParticipantHi guys, Happy 2014 to all! 😀 I’ve got back from Christmas & New Years holiday & WOW, there has been some AWESOME posts while I was gone! Totally agree with @rumplegoldfan point about the Emma/Hook jail scene & with @CaptainEala on Emma’s line = her knowing it was her fault.
Also totally agree with what everyone has said with regards to Neal’s understanding of Emma Vs Hook/Killian’s understanding of Emma. I will add some of my thoughts to that topic (since it’s the most recent one).
- Adam & Eddy have already said Neal was ‘drawn’ to Emma because she reminded him of WENDY! That means if she hadn’t reminded him of Wendy, he wouldnt have kept her around in al likely hood. So it wasnt Emma as such, that attracted him at 1st, it was her ‘Wendyness’ & things took off from there.
- How can anyone ‘truly’ know & understand another, truly ‘get’ them, if they are denying & running from who they them-self truly is? The whole Neal ‘knows her better than Hook’ theory fails on that alone IMO- she’s desperate for love, she has abandonment & belonging issues, for her parents to be in her life, so she wants nothing more to find them, to understand them, she wants them in her life, to love them & be loved in return etc. So how could Neal “truly” understand Emma- even at that stage, when his 1st, 2nd & 4th instinct on being able to sort out his own issues with his Dad, once & for all, is to dump Emma, with her abandonment, trust & ‘I’m not good enough to be worthy of love’ issues & allow her sit in a prison cell because of his own crime, yet thinks a car & some cash will make her be “All right”? So he can get the hell out of doge?! …. Yeah cause that sounds like he knows her REAAAALLLLLY well o.O
- Neal’s actions (which in his mind, allowed her to be “Oh Kay”), DIRECTLY resulted in an intense magnification of ALL Emma’s issues- she lost hope & faith in love, she lost her ability to believe in herself/ that she was worthy of & capable of loving at all (hence her giving Henry up- she didnt feel she was worthy of being a mother), she totlly lost the ability to trust & have faith in others etc. If he had truly known Emma, even back then- he would have found another way to get her to SB- plain & simple.
- Neal hasnt known Emma for over a decade (as has been pointed out by others), but the one MASSIVE change Emma had during that time (above Neal dumping her with no warning or explanation, by allowing her to sit in prison for a year- not often you can honestly say a “It’s over” txt from a burner ph would have been a massive leap up the ladder in better ways to break up with someone :/ ), which has sky rocketed Emma way out of Neal’s levels of understanding her as a person NOW, is she became a mother- she literally brought a life into this word, even if she didnt keep Henry, she knew she had had him & that he was out there, somewhere & that fundamentally changes a person. (I wont site the positive findings of female foster kids becoming parents, because all the positive effects of it were negated by Neal’s betrayal of her trust by his abandonment of her). Emma, as a teen not only had to comprehend that she had a life growing inside of her, a part of her & a part of Neal, but that she was in prison, she had no job or prospects awaiting her, she was alone- totally alone, no parents, no friends, no lover, no one to talk to, ask advice of, to help ease her fears before the birth, no one to help an orphan teenager cope with how to look after, let alone how to raise a child, she had no one to help her afterwards etc. She had to face her future & that of her baby, while still in prison, while having no clue why Neal left her & had her chucked in prison etc. At least Neal knew why his father abandoned him & he knew his father loved him, he just thought his father loved power more (which sucks for Bae, but at least he KNEW the reason his father let him go- Emma had none of that benefit).
Since Neal’s come back, he hasn’t read Emma very well at all IMO- He doesn’t trust her ‘super power’- instead he mocks it, he mostly pushes when it’d be better to back off & backs off when he couldve pushed etc. So I just dont understand how SF fans (outside of wearing massive shipping goggles), can honestly think Neal understands Emma better than Hook/Killian. *shrugs*
As for my fav parts of S3 eps (I’ll have to go off of memory, as cant re-watch atm).
3X1 = Emma & Killian’s shared moment below deck for Neal’s passing- Killian’s “I quite fancy/like you, when you’re not yelling at me line” is a close 2nd 😉
3×2 = Emma & Killian’s “Perhaps I would” moment- those two just convey SOOOOO much with eyes, such an intense moment of honesty from Killian & fear of feeling from Emma.
3×3 = Emma & Killian’s Coconut moment- it was just so comfortable & ‘normal’ between them.
3×4 = In Bae’s cave, when Emma actually see’s how deeply Killian really knew & cared about Neal/Bae & his immediate asking if she is all right. This is when I started to wonder how much of what Emma admired about Neal’s skills, actually came from Hook 😉

ParticipantNot sure if any one has posted this link or not yet, but CS is #6 on Spoiler TV’s top 25 TV ships of 2013, beating out a number of long standing canon ships at that-including the only other Once coupe to make in Rumbelle 😉
6. “Captain Swan,”
Ehmagawd, how hot are these two? Some classic love/hate tension played out to a tee in Season 3, which found the bond between the two growing even as Emma denied it continually. When he calls her “Swan”? When he calls her “love”?!
Favorite moments have to include the kiss (!!), Hook’s confession of love in the Neverland cave scene, and his farewell to Emma when she crossed over the town line back in Storybrooke. It was also amazing when he showed up out of the blue in Emma’s new, fairy-tale free, memory-erased life, like a splash of cold water revealing the truth to Emma’s destiny. While she seems not to have allowed her feelings for Hook to develop enough for True Love’s Kiss to work, I bet if he tried it again in a few episodes, the results might be different!
