ParticipantLol, i totally noticed. No wonder the poor guy thought she was coming on to him!!!
Honestly, when i look back now, how we were called “delusional” is beyond me. And we’re STILL being called that.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough which ship has the correct interpretation of things.
And tbh it’s not even a question[adrotate group="5"]Keeper of Captain Swan's first kiss

ParticipantThere’s not a day that will go by that I won’t think of you.
Good.
“People say I love you all the time – when they say, ‘take an umbrella, it’s raining,’ or ‘hurry back,’ or even ‘watch out, you’ll break your neck.’ There are hundreds of ways of wording it – you just have to listen for it, my dear.”

ParticipantSince I am clueless about all of the tech stuff, can someone post a gif of the scene right after Hook makes his comment about Emma being “Captain Swan” to her yellow bug vessel?
What I love about this scene is that she tries to smile but it is this weak little attempt, then she slowly raises her eyes to meet his and as soon as she is looking him in his eyes she gets the most heart breaking, depressing expression to her face. It’s awful!!!! Her face just tells you that THIS is the one person she is dreading having to lose and it is more than she can take.
Compared to the goodbye she gives to Neal “Sorry that you end up having to go back to the EF anyway – bummer . . . alrighty then, see ya!”
And since Neal has been all about the regret he has about not telling Emma he loved her and how it is the biggest regret/mistake of his life and he HAD to get to NL to save Henry and tell Emma he loves her (which he never did). Perhaps THEN would have been a stellar opportunity to say a quick no pressure “Love ya. You take now.” I don’t know how much more clear they could have tried to make it – they didn’t even have him give her a “family”/friendly “love ya” which would have been perfectly appropriate considering she told him she would always love him (because they are “family).

Participant@rumplegoldfan – here you go! I love this scene too. What makes me laugh is that the other side are like “ooooooh she wasn’t going to say goodbye to Hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, when it was clearly important enough to the writers to make sure they were as alone as possible, and it was her last goodbye before Snow’s. I mean really, I just lol when i read that kind of thing.
Don’t make me say goodbye.

I love this too, she only really starts to actually BREAK when he says goodbye. I love how he tried to make it easier on her by making her smile.

ParticipantBeautifully written analysis by sincerelygsh:
CAPTAIN SWAN || THE NEW NEVERLAND
Further analysis on The New Neverland.
Hook resorts back to using alcohol and Emma falls into a state of hopelessness. Instinctively longing for one another without confirmation of where the heart lies causes them to lose sight of what’s good, and it leaves them agonizingly trying to make sense of situations without the comfort of one another that had become home to them.
There’s a brief instance when Neal and Hook are talking and you could see Emma looking to Hook. It almost seems instinctive, similar to the stolen glances at Neverland.
“A one handed pirate with a drinking problem.” After this was mentioned, viewers weren’t given any other instances of Hook drinking until this episode. When it comes to behavior, there’s an obvious level of maturity present within the men and Neal proved that by bringing up rum. The only necessity of him stating the obvious was to foreshadow that Hook would in fact rely on rum again, and that aside, it came off far too snarky on Neal’s end, almost as a way to belittle him, when in fact, it spoke more loudly on his end because you don’t mock someone with a possible addiction. Not to mention, it makes all the sense in the world to come from Pan but from Neal? Unnecessary. This could’ve come off much differently had Neal mentioned Emma because even a stranger walking into Grannie’s would’ve known how deeply rooted Hook’s love for Emma is simply by the way he looks at her. That’s sort of it, it’s as though Neal doesn’t exactly pay attention to what Hook says or does to really see who he is as a person. This speaks highly for another point which is Hook’s confession about backing off – Neal doesn’t listen to him. Formal business aside, does Neal not understand sarcasm? He thanks Hook right after he clarifies that the only serious part of that statement was about his looks. I mean, okay? Hook basically puts him on blast by being the only person to have acknowledged that he’s left Emma, yet Neal doesn’t own up to his mistakes. It’s really not that he owes any explanation to Hook but it’s fair to assume that if viewers were meant to hold onto any hope of Swanfire rekindling, he’d defend himself with something along the lines of “yes, I screwed up, but it will be different this time”.
Neal isn’t capable of making rational decisions when it comes to a romantic relationship with Emma because he doesn’t think further than a reunion. They have a past, a lovely one where they were both there for one another, but choices and circumstances forced them apart, and when Neal had the opportunity to return, he let fear govern his choices. Even though he didn’t want to reunite with his father, the love between him and Emma wasn’t strong enough to gravitate him towards her as it’s done so wondrously with Snow and Charming. Surely, the product of true love deserves the kind of relationship that’s similar to her parents if not even stronger.
This is the first time he watches Emma and Henry interact alone; therefore, this is also probably the moment he truly realizes just how much he doesn’t want to repeat the past. Milah may have wanted to go back for Bae, but she didn’t or at least she wasn’t able to until it was too late. She chose Hook, and he later did the honorable thing by taking on the responsibility Milah should’ve because of how much he loved her. He understands that no matter who’s in the picture, no matter what Emma wants or doesn’t, she disregards everything to keep Henry happy. She had to leave him before and now that she can be his parent, she’s never going to abandon him. She’s being selfless and that inspires him, that makes him fall harder, and it destroys him that he’s not a part of her life. This is the expression of a man who’s looking at the entire purpose of his existence and desperately wanting to be her safe haven. As said previously over and over again, he’s doing whatever he believes is best for Emma. He doesn’t want to pressure her into making a choice. He wants her to realize for herself that he’d never leave her, that he’s crazy in love with her, and that every single thing he’s done has been for her.
There are a few places other than the docks Emma could’ve gone to when she was avoiding the date (their loft, the park viewers saw in 2×22, and probably a few other places). The significance behind the docks was to present intuitions. She’s there because he’s given her hope. She’s lost, unsure of Henry’s behavior, has no one to talk to, and he’s always been a foot away if she’s needed him. Because this is the first time Hook and Emma are separated without clarification on where they stand with one another, they’re both in places the other would be. Since Emma looked surprised to see her father, it’s safe to assume she didn’t text him her whereabouts. Therefore, of all the places mentioned, how’d he know where to find his daughter? As much as David has insulted Hook, we’ve returned from Neverland with them as mates – whether it’s addressed yet or not, it is what it is, the men don’t hate each other anymore. Charming has seen Hook’s heart. He states that he’s here to make sure Emma’s okay, not why she bailed on the date. By asking about Hook, Emma’s attempting to finding out what her dad thinks of him similarly to the way she brought up the kiss to Snow. It’s incredibly lovely on his part that he turns it into a joke because what he’s doing is giving his daughter indirect approval and forcing her to make the choice herself. He’s not telling her who to choose by any means. He’s telling her to take a leap of faith – giving her a ride to the diner wasn’t him saying “pick Neal pick Neal” it was him giving his daughter a moment as he continuously emphasized is a necessity no matter what kind of a life is led. This moment was Emma being freed for a while. It was a conversation with her father in which he reassured her that she deserves happiness. It was a break, a “go get lunch with him and if you don’t like it, that’s fine.” Hook has constantly given Emma good moments and at this point, I’m certain Charming is well aware of that. However, it’s up to Emma to make the choice on her own terms.
Now, Hook’s drunk and looking to forget. He’s in pain. He has been since the moment he confessed his love to Emma and sent her in the arms of her first love. He may be a confident man but even they get hopeless and depressed when the woman they love doesn’t feel the same. As much as he’s been her rock in Neverland, now that she has Henry, he’s allowed himself to give into the pain he’s kept concealed for her. He’s resorted back to alcohol because it’s what he’s known to ease the aches for so long. As much as he’s a man of honor, it shouldn’t be a surprise by now that Emma turns him into a 13 year old from time to time. However, when it comes to facial expressions, his have a novel written on them, the moment they heard the scream, he was instantly able to revive himself into the shield he’s been because the possibility of Emma or anyone else she loves being in danger. Her happiness is all that matters to him. It’s only when he sees her safe and sound that he pulls the whole ‘perhaps’ shenanigans. The necessity of them sharing glances right when everyone ran was completely intentional. This goes to show that Emma is in fact jealous. She’s fighting him off. It’s exactly as David said, in the midst of bad things, look for the good moments, and that’s what they’ve intuitively done in Neverland. They’ve shared these stolen glances here and there because there’s always been an unspoken comfort between them. This one particularly was Emma’s jealousy talking. Even though she hasn’t verbally said it yet, she’s seen him as her equal; therefore, naturally the idea of him and another woman is going to bother her. They even finished each other’s sentences: “I do know the Shadow only takes orders from one person.” “Pan.” These little moments are intended by writers to show the specifics of the rare bond they share.
Killian’s not only a man of his word, but a man of action, she’s seen every good thing he’s done for her since he’s fallen for her. She’s seen his heart. She understands his character and he understands her in a way no one else does. That is why Hook is able to find her a year later. An elaborate declaration of love on Emma’s part wasn’t necessary for him to be at ease. Good was enough. “Good” emphasized that all the moments they’ve shared have meant something to her, and she wants him to hold on to that. The aspirational glances that were exchanged allowed him to truly understand just how much she values him, and it instilled hope back into her heart just as he’d continuously done in Neverland.
Something tells me the darling pirate hasn’t had rum in a while because the difference between this separation and the one in The New Neverland is, he knows how Emma feels about him.
