    From sincerelygsh:

    CAPTAIN SWAN || GOING HOME

    Note: As I was brainstorming this last night, I came to the conclusion that I’m pretty damn proud of how everyone handled the goodbyes. This episode set up the rest of the seasons so wondrously, there really aren’t enough words.

    “You’ve touched the lives of everyone here… It’s time for you to believe in yourself, Emma. It’s time for you to find hope”

    As much as Once Upon A Time is a rendition of fairytales, it’s telling its own masterpiece with Emma Swan’s story. The most impeccable aspect of her character is how relatable she is. Emma Swan isn’t afraid to be vulnerable and she isn’t afraid to be courageous. She’s consistently and effortlessly instilled hope in the hearts of her loved ones simply by being herself. People tend to fall when they’re placed on pedestals because the pressure becomes too much, Emma’s been on one since the very first episode but the gorgeous part about the quote above is that it’s gracefully removed from her. She’s not any less important, she’s still an exceptionally admirable female, everyone’s hope, but it’s all about her now. She doesn’t have to save anyone but herself. She can be happy.

    The great part of Neal and Emma’s goodbye is the fact that nothing is left behind. In “The New Neverland”, Neal said he’d back off if Emma didn’t meet him for lunch and even though she may have been on her way, fate didn’t permit their meeting to take place.

    “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. But rather, its a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” — Serendipity

    In the magnificent world of storytelling, everything which occurs is planned accordingly. Based on the way things unraveled, it’s safe to state that that the lunch date wasn’t meant to happen in those circumstances. This isn’t to say there won’t be future gatherings as there certainly will be multiple instances, but they won’t occur when an ultimatum was present. At the end of the day, every single one of these characters – Rumple included – will always be connected and in need of one another. Emma, Regina, and Neal are all Henry’s parents; therefore, they ultimately deserve a spot in his life. As far as their goodbyes goes, it was so very collected that it was surely meant to instill hope. Because facial expressions are crucial and theirs was so platonic, the “I’ll see you both again” doesn’t come off romantic. Emma will always love Neal, the spot he holds in her heart is undoubtedly irreplaceable and this peaceful goodbye established the friendship they’ll carry on with. Not to mention, the fact that she walks away from him without hesitancy depicts that she’s satisfied with how the entire exchange went. Ultimately, with everything that’s happened between Neal and Emma, it isn’t in their destiny to be a couple. They aren’t the soulmates that’ll ceaselessly long for one another if forced apart by the universe. The sole fact that Neal’s fear overpowered his adoration valorizes that they aren’t meant to be. It showcases that fate was never on their side, their connection wasn’t deep enough. Their reunion happened at a time where another man was already making his way into Emma’s life. It happened at a time where she was so incredibly broken over what he’d done that there could not have been a way for her to run back into his arms. Their story would’ve been insanely different had he crossed states to offer his most sincere apologies and the truth on his departure. Nonetheless, that didn’t happen, and it is meant to display this notion that people who are meant to be will always be drawn to one another.

    Essentially, when it comes to the goodbye with Hook, there’s this gloriously written piece here about Emma’s tears; therefore, read that. By dismissing Emma’s use of the word “good” as significant it’s as though the meaning isn’t understood. The word itself has been the thesis of her father’s advice. She could’ve fought back, but she chose to give him hope. She chose to acknowledge that his love is good and she’s savors it.

    When it comes to facial expressions, Colin O’Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison have an entire novel written on their faces. (This is immediately after he promised he’d never stop thinking of her and she accepted his love.) They both have this noteworthy talent of bringing to light numerous emotions with their expressions, and ultimately in a moment like this, a smile is captivatingly sincere if it’s done with the eyes as well. Point being, this is the most beautiful, painfully electric, and gorgeously revealing goodbye in television history. These are two people who’ve spent days side by side fighting as a team and now they’re forced apart by a treacherous curse.

    Hook and Emma were both looking for something other than the comfort they found in one another. By being her bloody brilliant, amazing self, she effortlessly brought out the best in him and as a result, he fell in love and found himself incapable of being anything other than a hero in her life. His constant pursuit to be her shoulder has brought him sublime happiness. That’s what’s so intriguing about them – when you see someone you love happy, doesn’t it bring you incomparable peace? She is his everything, she’s given him rare and unwavering hope that’s changed his entire world. His love has luxuriously become her strength in times of need as she’s become his. They’ve been the saviors in past relationships without their partners always doing the same, but with each other it’s equal.

    & by now, everyone and their mother knows the entity I’m most obsessed with is the fact that they don’t part easily – darling Yuni made a gifset for it here. They both keep their eyes locked on the other until he finally turns around from the pain. Throughout their time in Neverland, he’s gracefully followed her lead and she’s always inquired him when something’s come up. This is one of those moments where Emma takes his lead. This was Emma accepting him in all the ways she could that wouldn’t lead to heartbreak. Even the way their bodies move is perfectly in sync. As though it’s gravitational – like a dance, she’s letting him lead. She’s relying on his moves because he’s the strength in this moment. They don’t touch just like she refused to hold Henry, instead they hold onto one another with their eyes. It speaks volumes that she walks away from Neal and she holds on as much as she can with Hook. It also speaks volumes that she’s the one who approaches Neal but Hook’s the one who approaches her. In all situations, he’s searches for her, puts her first, and handles everything with such exquisite grace that’s demonstrates just how ardently he adores her. She ends the goodbye with Neal feeling satisfied, but the one with Hook leaves countless unspoken words and desires lingering.

    I read last nights tweet and freaked out! Darn, Keck is such a tease haha. I agree with you Eala that the “thing” (I don’t know how to spoil out) in the finale won’t be CS. It’s way too early 🙂
