I think in S3 they are going to be showing a different side to Hook. Right now, he is deemed a “villain” so some people don’t like him. Most people didn’t like Rumpel until his backstory was shown. People might change their tune about Hook.
I don’t like when people want to say things on this thread that they know will rile up people who ship CaptainSwan. Can we just refrain from doing that to any ship threads? Everyone is entitled to opinions, I get that. If you say your opinion in a respectful way, I think it would be more welcomed.
I too hope so. I really would like to see how Killian became a pirate & how he came to have such a strong moral code (for a pirate)…. I kind of wonder what happened to have him become this anti-hero type pirate, rather than a pirate like hero. The guy has all the qualities of a hero personality- bravery (he isn’t afraid to for fight or die for what he wants & believes in), honesty (he hasn’t lied so far), morals (he wont kill for the sake of simply killing, it always has a purpose & doesn’t take pleasure from others pain- Rumple aside) etc I sometimes wonder if Charming himself would be very different from Killian if he turned dark 😉
I also think it’s what attracts Emma to him in some ways- he is very hero like, the capacity for ‘good guy’ is there, but also has these dark shades, so he’s not too perfect- if that makes sense 😕 😉I also think a lot of Hook hate comes from the fact it is Rumple he’s out to get- they love Rumple, Belle & Bae, so anyone who challenges those characters is ‘bad’ for them.
Well said, and exactly! I think that’s exactly where the Hook hate comes from. The take Once Upon A Time has on this version of Captain Hook is absolutely ingenious! He’s so complex, so deep, and the room that they have to use him is something I’ve often compared to leggo blocks. He’s a great leggo block with lots of points for other things to attach to and build from off of. I hope we have Captain Hook around not only in season 3, but for the remainder of the show. His character is that good, and I think he’s that big a compliment to the show. Like I’ve said before, Cinnamon toast is called “Cinnamon toast”, not “Cinnamon and Sugar toast”. It’d taste pretty rotten without the sugar, though. Same thing with Captain Hook. It’s not he Hook show, but without him, it’s kind of bland.

I agree with you 100%, LOVE this version of Hook & without him, the show just doesn’t do it for me anymore- He is what got me back into the show & has kept me here for the very reasons you give (although not having Hook for the last 9ish eps has made it very hard to stay interested, so I had to take a break & get caught back when I thought he’d be in ep18 🙁 ), add in the Hook/Emma chemistry & hints we’ve been getting from cast & creators on a possible pairing & I’m all aboard for the rest of S2 & S3 😆 Like you say he bring’s so much depth & richness to the story.
Love your leggo block comparison- it’s so true! 😎
The cinnamon toast thing is a very good point – I LOVE cinnamon & add it to everything- I’ve been addicted to the stuff for a good 23-24yrs lol, but cinnamon on it’s own = gross. 😆

ParticipantOur heroes' obstacles include Tamara and Greg, whose agenda will soon be spelled out (“We intend to answer that mystery, but it's really about what it means for Emma, Regina, Snow and everyone,” says Horowitz)
I’m so glad Hook wasn’t named there, not that it excludes him altogether; but it seems GOAT are in a whole other league of their own 😉

ParticipantWhen CaptainSwan happens, I hope there are some delightfully awkward moments between Hook and Henry.
Also Hook needs to leave Belle alone. He wants revenge against Rumple, that’s fine, but he should leave Belle out of it. She’s done nothing wrong.

I agree
Hmmm, problem is, he cant. She was his only way to hurt Rumple. Remember Rumple is the most powerful dark magician in at least 3 worlds & Hook has no magic, therefore he cant touch Rumple directly, unless Rumple leaves SB (not likely to happen again anytime soon). That only leaves Hook indirect options for getting his revenge/justice on Rumple & those are now Belle & Bae.
I just re watched ep 10- Hook was going to simply go off & get his revenge on Rumple, Cora pointed out he couldn’t as magic was in SB, so when he was given the opportunity of finding Rumple’s weakness via Hopper, he took it- it’s the only way left he has…. not saying I like the fact he goes after her, but I get why he is going after her.

ParticipantThe reason why Hook is such a hit among fans, is very simple. Colin O’Donoghue is OUAT’s very own Michael Jackson. He’s brought something unique, fresh, attractive, and exciting! That’s why the show has to keep Captain Killian Jones / James Hook. He is to Once Upon A Time, what Michael Jackson was to Motown. He’s changed it forever.

ParticipantI wouldn’t compare Colin O’Donoghue to Michael Jackson.
For one thing, Colin has never been accused of anything untoward towards minors.

The poster was talking about quality talent and content. I got the point. Michael Jackson’s music is what he’ll be remembered for. I would have never thought of that other stuff if somebody hadn’t brought it up. Eeew.
Instead of Michael Jackson, let’s say Elvis…but then somebody might bring up stuff off-topic about him, too. I think I’ll stick to the point intended,: Unique, and exciting. I agree with that.
