ParticipantBesides him saying that he excels at surviving, Greg and Tamara ‘saved’ him from maleficent 😆

ParticipantBoy I hope we are well rewarded with an outstanding CS moment when it finally happens- A&E said we will be getting more CS moments, but I hope it’s more than 1 in the final 🙄
Also hoping it doesn’t involve Hook once again being betrayed, seems the guy cant win lol- the good guys betray him & the bad guys betray him- I bet GOAT will betray him as well & he still keeps on keeping on trusting – Emma so needs to learn from him & he from Emma 😆 😉April 29, 2013 at 10:21 am #189599hookian
BlockedThe parallels, all the beautiful freaking parallels.
They’re both survivors at their core, it’s what they’re best at.
They have both fought MalificentHook is clearly being set up on a heroes journey. Slaying Malificent was the birth of the hero inside of him, now comes the journey.
Also that whole monologue he did, so much freaking foreshadowing. He will have something to live for and someone to fight for, and that’s the person that actually gave a damn about him Emma.
Also that promo, yes folks I am so convinced Killian=Peter

ParticipantAll I know is the ST shippers are all happy after this ep (it’s hard to go into any thread & not come across canon ST conversations going on 😆 )- I just hope it’s our turn next ep!!! It’d be nice to actually have them in a scene together again…even if Emma has him tied up 😉 😆

ParticipantI liked that Hook was beginning to question his revenge quest against Rumple. He recognised that his life was going to be empty after he had killed Rumple and that he would have nothing to look forward to. For me, that moment alone was enough to actually say CaptainSwan is now a believable option. Before, I didn’t like the idea that Emma was supposed to fall into Hook’s arms because he was throwing sexual innuendos at her. Now that he has realised if he spends his whole life seeking revenge against Rumple, he’s going to end up alone, he may actually realise there is more to life than revenge. Whilst I don’t think Rumple and Hook will ever be friends, I think they could get a frenemy thing going on. They will sometimes help the other out, they will sometimes try and kill the other, but they will never actually kill the other. Hook would miss Rumple as a worthy foe.
Also, by realising there is more to life than revenge, Hook has actually extended his life on the show. Both characters can now exist on the show believably without it suddenly seeming like Hook has just given up on his quest for revenge for no reason. Between Rumple and Hook, Hook would’ve been the one to go, and that would’ve been a shame to fans of both characters.
I can see CaptainSwan going full blown in season 3 (possibly 4) however, I don’t see it lasting to series end sadly. At her core, Emma just wants to settle down and be with her family whilst Hook is an adventurer, he doesn’t want to stay in one spot his entire life. He’s not a family man. It is these deep differences that will eventually break CaptainSwan apart. Both will have a lasting influence on the other, they are going to be an important crossroad in each other’s life, and neither character would’ve been the person they are at series end if CaptainSwan hadn’t happened. I believe CaptainSwan will be one of those relationships where you can understand why it couldn’t last but it will be really sad to see it go.

BlockedActually I disagree with you and here is why.
The monologue, Hook is willing to let it all go if he has something to fight for or something to live for. It’s gonna last IMO they’re each others true loves.
Hook wants to settle down probably even more than Emma, he just wants to have something in life to keep him going. He doesn’t want adventure, he really now looks like he doesn’t want his revenge, all he wants is something to care and fight for.
Someone to love, that’s what Hook wants and he’s willing to give up everything including his revenge.

I love your post, and I agree, except for the belief that Hook cannot be domesticated. He is an adventurer, and she wants to settle down, but I think they will all want to keep a little bit of adventure in their lives in some way.
As for whether Hook can settle down, there’s a lot a woman can do to influence a man over time. I like that line from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. “The man is the head, but the woman is the neck” (and what can a head do without a neck?).

ParticipantI don’t want Hook to lose his spirit, just his revenge. We’ll have to learn more about him, but at this point, I think it is a pretty big leap to say “he just wants to settle down.” I don’t think he has THOUGHT about what might be next, or that there would be a “next”. That was what I took from his comments to Regina.
I agree with Sarah that Emma might like a little adventure, and that couples in love often change a little to be with each other. Though, I really don’t see a “big happy family” around a TV kind of thing.
Hookian, as with your other post where you talk about a scene jump, I think you’re downplaying GOAT’s role in the show. That scene jump seemed to me to connect Emma’s worry about the danger to SB with the two who are the danger. Similarly, Hook didn’t kill Mallificient –they did. I do agree that Hook is on a journey, but he is still playing the anti-hero type role. He anticipated Regina would betray him, and he actually betrayed her in anticipation, or else GOAT wouldn’t have been there. Perhaps if she hadn’t betrayed him, he would have helped her with GOAT–he’s a pirate. We know he’s the type to shift sides when the odds change.
Now we’ll have to wait to see him do something that does not just further his revenge or save himself or undo a harm he caused or helped to cause in the first place. We need to SEE his heroic moment. Even better if Emma sees it–like if he warns the town, even though it means Rumpel gets away from him. We need to see him pick the good side and stick to it, even though it might cost him the one thing that’s been motivating him for years. That to me is the most likely heroic moment for him….cause I don’t think his revenge thing is going to work out. Rumpel’s too important :).
That’s the kind of change I think that would set up CS pretty well.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
