How many times have we heard Neal talking talking talking AND FRACKING NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH ON FRACKING ANYTHING
“I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to her” – LEAVES, IS AN ACCOMPLICE TO PLACING HER IN JAIL
“Send me a postcard when she’s fulfilled her destiny” – DOESN’T FIND HER, GETS ENGAGED
“I could have found her. I could have told her i loved her. [……] Biggest regret of my life.””When you love someone you don’t keep it in” – PROCEEDS TO NEVER TELL HER HE LOVES HER
“I have to find her, i have to get to her” – ARRIVES IN NEVERLAND, TEAMS UP WITH HIS DAD
“I’ll never stop fighting for you” – PROCEEDS TO TELL HER THAT IF HENRY IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAME FROM THEM THEN THAT’S OK
“I’ll be in that booth, if you don’t show up, i’ll quit bugging you” – “ATTEMPTS” TO GO AFTER EMMA IN THE EF WHEN HE HAS THE CHANCE DESPITE TELLING HER HE’D LEAVE HER ALONE IF SHE DIDN’T SHOW UP
Neal is all talk and no FRACKING follow through, I literally don’t give a flying*fancy* if he’s all gung ho about getting back to Emma at first because the thing is
HE’S EASILY TALKED OUT OF IT, HE DOESN’T GO, HE DOESN’T FIND HER, AND FINDING YOUR TL IS, HELLO, ONE OF THE MASSIVE THEMES OF TRUE LOVE ON THIS SHOW
AND THEN THERE’S WHAT HE SAID TO HER IN 2X14
“I was trying to help you [..] by getting you home.”
Neal doesn’t consider Emma his home, he doesn’t consider HIMSELF as Emma’s home, and GUESS WHAT, CHARMING AND SNOW CONSIDER EACH OTHER TO BE THEIR HOME
And plus he’s going to die so yeah

- Neal wants to stay with/go after Emma
- Someone convinces him it’s a bad idea
- He listens and doesn’t go because it’s what’s “best for her”

Pretty much as i expected. Neal is VERY passive here, and i always said he’d make an attempt to go, but then pipe down pretty quickly.
And guess what. It’s going to happen.
