ParticipantThanks for the link Jasmine and ditto the sentiments regarding Obisgirl as our official cheerleader!
As I said somewhere (and I’m getting all discombobulated trying to remember where at this point), it reminds me of Lost in the sense that Kate was with Sawyer pretty early on and for awhile and then ends up with Jack even though they barely had any positive screentime other than being jealous once in awhile and having a few cute moments early on before being on opposite sides a lot of times. So perhaps SwanFire having some of those moments now means that it won’t be endgame down the line.
I agree with the idea that perhaps Emma will think him dead for awhile, long enough to move on again (just like after Graham) and that she’ll probably have finally opened up to Hook around the time that Neal comes back into the picture and she may be torn at that point.
Honestly I thought that’s what would happen when Tamara first entered the picture as Neal’s fiancee, that Emma would move on to Hook, something would break up Neal & Tamara, and then there’d be a real triangle but we haven’t had any of that. Figures they’d have her first love look like he was dead instead of having her actually choose and/or have to address the past before actually choosing.
There’s no way Emma would have let him off the hook for all of that so easily. She was clearly still hurt by everything that happened but she doesn’t just forget and forgive, it takes her awhile. (And even if you can remember caring about someone way back when, things change over the years and when you finally see that things have changed and they’re not what you thought they were and idyllicizing in your mind for years, it wears off and you move on. SwanFire didn’t get to address their stuff or have a real go of it now to actually see if it worked. Which means, everything that happened last night was the buildup in their minds of how things should have gone if they picked up where they left off ages ago but without making any significant progress regarding the things that kept them apart before. Get that in order and I’ll think about it. Otherwise Hook is still my choice!
The only thing I really don’t feel good about is all the “fate” “destiny” stuff they keep throwing around, along with characters like Rumple & Henry blatantly shipping it. I feel like they’re telling us that if Rumple or Henry wants it then it has to happen and I just don’t see why that’s the case. The use of those words throws me a bit too but I’m hoping that over the years of the show they change things up a bit. After all, Belle says she chooses her own fate, so why can’t Emma? She’s been through so much from everybody else manipulating her her entire life, Hook offers a freedom that nobody else can.
Depending on how he is with Bae when we see that (so excited!) and the lost boys (though not necessarily the sinister ones…maybe the crying ones), he could be very good with Henry if given the chance. I think he’ll drop the facade he’s had up if he spends enough time around Emma and the Charmings, working with them and not constantly worrying about being betrayed (Emma, do not tie him up again and leave him somewhere! He WANTS to work with you, trust him!), then he might become the Killian he once was.
I hope we find out what he was like before he was a pirate – wonder if he had a story similar to Bae’s where he was found by somebody – Davey Jones perhaps?. He might actually be very good with children and I don’t see him begging Emma to go away with him and leave Henry. He saw how hard she fought to get back to her son once and he helped her before she locked him up. He also knows what happened to the last woman who he convinced to run away with him. I don’t think he wants to repeat history.
If he can get in with the good guys and not feel like he’s going to be betrayed but at least heard out by people (they know he wants to kill Rumple but nobody’s exactly trying to see it from his point of view – Emma’s the only one who’s seen a softer side of him, namely pointing out the tattoo), then maybe just maybe he can keep his sense of adventure but put it to good use, protecting Emma and her loved ones and fighting alongside her (they DO make a good team after all!).
As upset as Henry might be to begin with (he’s still a kid right now, he may be older when endgame comes around) he may actually learn to enjoy Hook’s company. Henry liked swordfighting with Charming and Neal, I bet he would enjoy learning a thing or two from a pirate. It would be kinda cool if they got along, especially if Hook & Bae had a nicer relationship back in Neverland.
Hoping that Henry grows up a bit and gets over his everything is black or white thing. Look at his family: how can he NOT see shades of grey in everyone by this point? Emma lied to him once and suddenly she was as bad as Regina? (Whom he still loves and believes in every time she wants to change and then gets hurt again I might add). Perhaps Emma CAN and WILL choose her own fate but keep everybody in Henry’s life and he’ll grow up and realize that his dysfunctional family loves him and that will be enough (it’s not enough for a kid though).
I really do love young Bae with Morraine and now Wendy so perhaps there’s somebody that would be good for him that we just haven’t met yet. He may be off who knows where for awhile and find himself torn too, missing Emma and trying to get back to her but also feeling close to someone else. I could totally see that happening (especially since he was so close to finding her again and then went off with Tamara of all people and had no problem introducing her to Emma as his fiancee and rubbing it in her face that she was jealous but he was STILL going to marry Tamara and that Tamara couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the bad stuff happening until she oh I don’t know, TRIED TO KILL HIM!)
*deep breath* Bring on CaptainSwan!

Yeah, I agree. IF Hook is romantically linked to Emma in S3, then it may not be endgame. Anything that happens too soon for Emma may not be permanent, but we shall see. I hope maybe it is just a tumultuous relationship that ends up being endgame in the end. I would like to see a love/hate CS relationship that eventually blossoms into TL.

That is going to be quite a love triangle, but interesting to watch.
But…as you said…

It certainly is an “I love you” from the past, so we do not know how the relationship would have panned out based on the residual love they had from way back when. Just because they carry a torch for each other, does not mean it can’t be replaced with a new flame

I think the writers want us to keep guessing who she is going to end up with. I am hoping that it does not pan out like you mentioned in the Lost reference. Maybe the writers won't copy everything from Lost???? It would be too easy for Lost fans to figure out what is going on. They have to change the plots otherwise it is just Lost in fairytale form, you know?
The only thing I really don’t feel good about is all the “fate” “destiny” stuff they keep throwing around, along with characters like Rumple & Henry blatantly shipping it. I feel like they’re telling us that if Rumple or Henry wants it then it has to happen and I just don’t see why that’s the case. Emma marches to the beat of her own drummer and I do not think she is keen to the idea of fate. Neal is, but she isn’t. She likes to make her own choices and you are absolutely dead on with Hook offering her more possibilities. I think you mentioned this in an earlier post, but Hook has not betrayed Emma in the way she has him. Yes, I do think the swordfight was staged so that Emma could win. It was way too easy for Hook to lose like that, especially since we’ve seen him showing some fancy moves with Rumple.
I do think he will. We are seeing little kernels of Killian here and there in his vulnerable moments, and I too can’t wait to see him interact with Bae. He can definitely turn the charm off or on, and it is no different with kids…because he is a pirate, boys would naturally be in awe of him.
I don’t see him begging Emma to go away with him and leave Henry. He saw how hard she fought to get back to her son once and he helped her before she locked him up. He also knows what happened to the last woman who he convinced to run away with him. I don’t think he wants to repeat history.
He won’t. He saw how Emma was willing to leave him on the beanstalk, with Henry being one of the reasons, and the way in which Emma practically begged him to rethink what he was doing when he locked her up in Rumple’s cell.
Plus, it was more Milah asking him to take her away, so there’s that. I also believe we will see Hook realizing who Bae really is and the effect Milah had on leaving him, as well as Rumple. I have a feeling Hook is an orphan too, which is another reason why he is attracted to Neverland. I am not well-read on Hook’s life history in literature, but just a guess. It is also another lovely parallel between Emma and Hook, since she was an “orphan” for a while.
There’s no doubt in my mind that he will be good with Henry and that Henry will like him. We need more Henry and Hook time. I think it will be so adorable. What I am hoping for Henry’s character arc is that he too grows up and learns about the shades of gray in relationships and that not everything ends well. Neal cannot be the only one for Emma just because he is his father.
I really do love young Bae with Morraine and now Wendy so perhaps there’s somebody that would be good for him that we just haven’t met yet.
Yep, it will give CS some breathing space too
But, honestly, I do wish Neal a happy ending, regardless of how it happens and who he ends up with. He deserves that with all the sacrifices he has willingly made in his life.

Love that video!
I also have another juicy one with Tangled/CS. They show parallels!!!!!

ParticipantThanks for all your comments Jasmine! Ranting and preaching to the choir is having the desired effect I think – we’re all bonding over the good stuff and keeping each other sane!
I’ve been perusing the #CaptainSwan hashtag on twitter and finding some other good stuff as well. Just noticed this video too (not that I entirely trust the ABC promo department, especially since this was to welcome us back from the midseason finale before Neal appeared in present day but I do have hope – even if they did introduce Hook as a huge villain originally *smacks forehead* silly people, assuming the writers will follow the original stories haha).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fa8IT1_zd2A (Promo about the show & it’s couples..I spy CaptainSwan…)
Come to think of Hook’s original promo didn’t they describe him as a CHARMING swashbuckler? (perhaps it was a subtle hint that Emma will find “her” prince charming and that he is in fact one Mr. Killian Jones aka Captain Hook?? (OK I might be grasping at straws here, but at the moment I’ll take anything I can get!!)
I realllly want to know what Killian was like pre-Milah / Neverland. I want to know the man and not just the pirate facade.
I remember when some were saying that Emma needed a man more like her father, a shepherd not a pirate. *Cough* Dread Pirate Roberts *cough* (who doesn’t love Westley??) – I’ve said all along Hook is a cross between Captain Jack Sparrow & Westley in his Dread Pirate Roberts days – now I want to see just Westley, err…Killian – especially if there are any parallels to Charming!

Indeed…but again, the ABC promo people might just be teasing us because they definitely aren’t privy to what goes on in A&E’s twisted genius heads…

Grasping at straws? NOOOOOO
I think Oncers invented grasping at straws

Hmm…that is certainly a good cross reference. I can see that! What’s interesting is that Killian pre-Milah’s death One reminds me of the popular jock at school who bullies people to look cool, especially when he interacts with Rumple, of course.
Even that seems like a front. I want to see his essence! GIVE ME HIS ESSENCE!!!!
Okay, I’m done whining. And glad that you liked that video
I have yet to watch Tangled…so now is a good time as any….I’m very old school in that I grew up with the animated, drawn versions of the Disney movies..still have an attachment to those movies, so it’s still hard for me to watch the Pixar and other computer-generated movies as much lol.

ParticipantCompletely understandable but it is a great movie! The really great Disney ones (other than the original classics) all came out when I was a kid and then fizzled for a few years. Tangled was the first one I actually wanted to see in a really long time and for being the 50th it was one of the best (and certainly one of the better ones in recent memory). Just go into it with a CaptainSwan viewpoint and you’ll be fine
It really is a cute movie though and I love Flynn.
I agree wholeheartedly! I want to see Killian the man, not just Killian / Hook the pirate. It’s totally a facade but he has a softer side, it’s there just below the surface, I can see it! However to get anybody else to it needs to be pretty blatant so hopefully he can win over some fans by peeling back some of those layers!
I took a short nap a bit ago and dreamed of how I want part of the finale to go:
*Hook crashes the Charmings and tells them what GOAT is up to and offers to help; Charming punches him but hopefully after that it's out of his system, much like it was after he punched Dr. Whale
*Henry gets kidnapped
*Hook sees how upset Emma is and wants to know what’s really going on and pushes the issue (much like Snow often does) but he actually gets through to her (even if it’s in a yelling / bantering kinda way where she’s pushed to the point of just shouting out an answer then
*Emma will tell him about Neal (might get some of recollections starting with “I knew him as a boy” and getting him to open up to her)
*Hook reminds Emma that he understands how she feels and points to his tattoo again
*Hook comforts Emma and says that together they will get him back, offering the services of the Jolly Roger and even agreeing not to try to kill Rumple or Regina who are sworn to all the same promises
*While on the Jolly Roger, waiting to get to Neverland (at least that's the destination in my head thanks to the ep title), once the course is set (Hook insists on driving his own ship), Hook sits with Emma who is standing top deck while everyone else is below, staring at the water trying to figure out how they're gonna get Henry back
*Hook pulls her over to sit with him and puts his arm around her to comfort her – she is so wiped out she doesn't resist
*Hook tells her everything will be alright, “we'll get him back”
*Emma wants to know why he's doing all of this when he hates half the people on the boat and has no invested interest
*His invested interest is her
*He explains how he threw the swordfight so she could get back to her son
*He tells her he was planning on jumping in the portal with her & Snow had a certain blonde not knocked him out (causes her to grin sheepishly but he likes a girl that can fight so he's not too upset about it other than being stuck with bringing Cora along)
*Tells her that once he knew what the water was capable of he always had a backup plan with the bean but wanted to make sure Emma got back to Henry
*Shows a softer side and Emma asks about his past with the Lost Boys which was hinted at in Tallahassee – shown in this ep (nice transition)
*They continue staring out into the ocean and Emma starts yawning
*Hook keeps his arm tightly around her stroking her hair telling her everything will be alright and it's going to be a long journey so go ahead and get some rest, he'll keep an eye on everything
*Ends with her asking how long of a journey and him saying “it's just the second star on the right,”
*With Emma finishing it with “and straight on til morning? That part's actually true?” causing him to laugh and hold her closer as she falls asleep – likely with some scene-ruining moment of someone lurking in the shadows watching in disgust – probably RumpleIt was a great dream / bonding time for the two even as friends, nothing more than that at the moment but still potential for down the road and all softer side of Hook, tiny bit playful, mostly comforting as he can see what she’s going through and understands.

ParticipantPerusing Adam Horowitz’s twitter feed and found this little gem (granted he was being blasted at the time for saying we were getting some CS this week when he meant end of season meaning next week but there’s still hope for some!)
The tweet is a reply to someone threatening not to watch because they got our hopes up to see Emma & Hook together but his response was this:
“well you’re gonna miss an awesome Emma hook scene. Sorry u think I lied. Honestly just misspoke.”
(Wish I could figure out how to embed the tweet on here from the twitter code it gives for embedding but yay for referencing not only an Emma / Hook scene but saying it will be an awesome one! If even part of my dream version for next week happens I will be so thrilled!
Edited to add: I found another quote responding to a question about whether there is hope are we shipping in vain. His response was:
“always hope on OUAT. They will certainly have some important interaction before season is done.” (I like the word “important.”)
