Can I just say that during season 2, I was definitely not Hook’s biggest fan. Rumple and Belle are 2 of my 3 favourite characters so obviously anyone against them (Hook) wouldn’t be my favourite person. I was okay with Hook up to The Outsider where he started going after Belle (I liked him in Tallahassee). I absolutely despised him after he shot her. I hated Hook up to the point of Neverland.
In Neverland, Hook grew on me in the first couple of episodes, I thought maybe he wasn’t such a bad person for Emma afterall, I was literally wavering between CS and SF every episode. Good Form rolled around and it wasn’t my favourite episode, however that was more to do with the fact that 2 of my favourite characters weren’t in it, 1 was only in the first and last scene, and Hook’s brother was a bit of an idiot to the point that you wonder how he managed to be captain of a ship (If someone tells you the dreamshade is poison, don’t scratch yourself with it to prove a point). Also I felt that Hook’s progression from upstanding navy man to pirate was a bit rushed. I thought that should’ve been a 2 part story with Good Form starting him on the road to piracy.
Anyway, then there was the CS kiss and it wasn’t that bad. Yeah, Hook shouldn’t have asked for the kiss as payment, but Emma wasn’t actually forced into it, it wasn’t as if Hook held a gun to Emma’s head. The kiss was overhyped. So Pan told Hook that Neal was alive and kudos to Hook for actually telling Snowing in Ariel, he could’ve kept it secret and nobody would’ve been the wiser but Hook did the right thing. I agreed with Hook and Charming’s plan not to tell Emma until they found out that Neal was actually alive, I really didn’t like Snow in Ariel in either flashback or present day.
Then Dark Hollow happened and it kind of put me off Hook again. He was back to being a bit of a jerk again and using statements like “WHEN I win your heart and I WILL WIN it”. It was very Gaston out of Beauty and the Beast and it made it seem like Emma was a prize to be won. The lighter fight was just awkward to watch because of it’s ridiculousness but hat’s off to Colin and MRJ for at least playing it seriously.
I liked how Hook used his hook to force Felix to sit back down in Save Henry. It wasn’t a big moment but it amuses me. I didn’t like how he tried to come on to Tinkerbell then implied to Emma that him and Tinkerbell had been up to something in The New Neverland to make Emma jealous. Not only does it show a lack of respect for Tinkerbell, but it also implies that Hook could actually feel the need to cheat on Emma if he felt wronged by her enough. I’ve seen the arguments that Hook was drunk and hurting used as an excuse to justify his behaviour, but it’s not an excuse. Tink rejected him but what would’ve happened if he had come on to a woman who was receptive of his advances. How far would it have gone then? Would Hook have told Emma it was her fault he cheated on her because she made him feel sad?
But anyway, 3B started and when we first got the death spoiler I was kind of hoping it was Hook. I wasn’t expecting to like Hook this half.
However Hook has grown on me again. I liked his snark this half, he grew on me so much that I didn’t actually want Hook to be the death anymore. Quiet Minds was a great episode for Hook. He made up with Neal and admitted they’d been silly fighting over a woman, the CaptainFire moment was so good that it’s a shame we didn’t get more scenes like that between Hook and Neal. He apologised to Belle which was a big must do for Hook IMO. I liked the apology because, whilst it wasn’t a “How have I wronged thee, let me count the ways” type of apology, it was an in character apology from a character who admitted 3 episodes earlier that he doesn’t apologise very often so for him to even say sorry is a big step forward for Hook. I also liked how Belle did give him some crap for it which he deserved and Hook knew he deserved.
I can genuinely say I like Hook after this episode. My hope for Hook now is that the writers don’t try and push the CS stuff too early after Neal’s death. Let Hook be there for Emma, let him support her and comfort her if needed, but don’t make him look like he is trying to come on to Emma whilst she is still emotionally vulnerable after Neal’s death.

Keeper of Felix@priceofmagic after all of the bad blood that has been going on around this forum for the past several months due to “shipping” and the death spoiler, it means a lot ( to me anyway) that you would say that.
I personally had nothing against anyone’s opinion if they genuinely didn’t like the Hook character. Its an opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. What bothered me was the constant character assassination in theorizing events. If something bad was happening “oh it must be Hook”, or “Hook for sure is working with the bad guys”. Even when he did something genuinely good, there was still a perceived selfish reasoning behind it. It got old really fast. And like everyone else on this thread, I too am tired of hearing the same old stories rehashed. I was looking at the chat last night in bed thinking “here we go again”……….
On a happy note, HOOK GOT NEW SEXY CLOTHES!!!

Well based on the spoilers we’ve seen, remember: Hook (or perhaps just Killian, now) is nicely dressed, while Emma is not. Honestly, I think it looks as if he is dressed as royalty (or an aristocrat), and she is dressed as peasant girl. If I am correct, being royalty, Killian (it’s going to be hard for me to not call him Hook) will be dignified, and won’t be running around looking so casual.
Keep in mind these are just guesses I’ve got, but it’s what my mind thinks may be happening. Is it permanent? I don’t know, or even as to why they’re doing it, but I can’t wait to find out.

I think Hook will be as he’s always been with Emma since the kiss in Good Form, which is respectful of her wishes. I don’t foresee that changing and him going back to the old version of himself. Besides, Nealfire was someone both he and Emma knew. Of course, Hook will be there for Emma as a friend (that’s to be expected, I think) but I don’t think he’ll push her into anything she’s not ready for. That would be very Out of Character at this point for him.

Is this a flash fwd? Alternate reality? Dream? Argh sometimes these spoilers/pics confuse me more than anything else. I can’t wait to see how it plays out though.
As to the other stuff I can understand why some people have run hot and cold on Hook because he hasn’t been consistent until he gave up his revenge. I think a lot of people want to break it down into he is bad or he is good but really he was neither (imo). He was on Team Hook and he didn’t really care which side he was assisting as long as it got him closer to his goal. This was clearly shown when he switched sides in Tallahassee then switched sides again when Emma betrayed him. I think that is what really makes him the Anti-Hero and I always kind of thought his revenge was borne out of love and therefore not as bad (though I don’t think Milah was worth it). Perhaps that is just me with my shipper goggles though.
My husband and I get into it because he is always like HOOK KILLED PEOPLE HE IS EVIL. First off you never see him kill anybody on screen and even if he did… Snow White and Charming have killed before. They think they are on the side of good and it is justified. I don’t disagree that they are justified but is a knight obeying the orders of his queen/king necessarily “evil/bad”? It is all about POV. Hook was somewhat wrong taking Milah (though personally I think that is on her) and was definitely wrong picking on pre-DO Rumple but Rumple DID kill her right in front of Hook and mutilated him. I can easily see why Hook sees himself as justified in his revenge. Belle allied herself with Rumple just as Charming did with Snow. Nobody blinks an eye at Regina attacking Charming. Again I don’t agree with these actions but they make sense to me.
Chat occasionally gets me riled up because I do think sometimes people are unfair to Hook or as has already been brought up… suspect his motives for everything. I fight the urge to jump in, which is why I don’t really stray from this thread.
On an unrelated note do you guys thing it is possible for Emma to “heal” Hook’s hand one day when she masters her powers? I know Rumple fixed Whale but he still actually had the arm on ice. I wonder too if he would even want it healed since he might consider it a part of him at this point. He certainly seemed to miss it when he had to wear the hand attachment instead.
This! I too wish they’d just man up & say “he wont ever be redeemed in m eyes”, rather than trying to justify all the bollocks they bring up, which either 1) has been addressed or 2) isnt fact/true. I’m not ashamed to admit that while I’m saddened by Neal’s death, I still dont see him allowing Emma to go to prison, then abandoning her Twice (at least) more as being redeemed- however Emma seems to be ‘over it’ so I have to build a bridge, deal & move on. Same is true of some of Rumple’s actions- some of Belle’s less than true/informed remarks & many of Regina’s actions.

Yes I agree as well. The whole “I know you didn’t have a choice” Emma told Neal in the hospital drove me a little crazy but it is in the show now that she forgave him so I am letting it go as well.
Anybody notice something else? In the closeups of Colin from set (especially in the one with him, and the lunch he’s carrying), he’s still wearing the pirate earring in spite of the rest of his attire. Hmmmm…..

Noticed that. Hook wearing no rings but still wearing the same earing. weird….. i can’t wait to see that episode. It’s like I want to watch episode 21 amd 22 first XD
