Participant@rogvortex58 Yeah I completely disagreed with Jeremy about how if you’re just looking at the chemistry between the two characters then you ship CS and if you ship SF you’re focused more on the overall story. I mean LOOK at the overall story Hook and Emma have found themselves closer to each other due to the way the story has been told. Emma has been put in a place where she has to let go of her relationship with Neal. The story demanded that the book would be closed on SF I’m sorry but that’s Adam’s words. Neal’s death happened because the story demanded, which means the story led Emma away from a happy ending that included Neal in it.
I understand people being upset and thinking that Neal’s death was the death of hope on this show if the way they had been seeing the story was the way RG said on the podcast. For me I never saw Neal & Henry as the center of the story it wasn’t their fairytale it’s Emma’s. Now what is Emma’s happy ending? We don’t know that yet, we know some parts of what that includes, we can guess as to others but the hope is not dead on this show because Emma can still have her happy ending, her love, her family, her home. She can have all of that still this is the story her fighting for her happy ending I know that a lot of people had an idea of what that was romantically that is now gone but that’s the story we’re being told.

ParticipantRegina’s apple managed it. Jefferson used his hat to take it from the past and bring it to her in the future.

ParticipantAdam tweeted about it: no time traveling on Once

If wanting to spoiler tag a post already containing spoilers then
1) Highlight, with your mouse the section of the post you wish to quote
2) Right click and select copy
3) Come down to your text box and select the block quote button (looks like two giant quote marks, next to the I and the strike through)
4) Paste in the text you want to quote
5) Add in the spoiler tags to the quote at the front and the end as normal
6) Hit enter to move down and unclick the QUOTE box. This will let you type out your response without being in the quote.

Yeah. I ship CS because of the story. While I can’t say I have anything against ST/SF or their story, it happened in one episode. We only know from Tallahassee that at one point in both their lives they were in love. He left her. And then that’s it.
At least with Emma and Hook what we get is an actual story arc where the relationship develops over the course of the seasons. It took more than just one episode for CS to get to where they are now. As a viewer that’s what I’m interested. The journey.

lol thank you 🙂 If I can be honest this whole week I’ve been trying to be sympathetic to our fellow Oncers who are Neal fans & SF shippers but I think now was the time to just be straightforward. His story arc has concluded and it concluded for a reason. The way the story has been told it just didn’t include Swan Fire in the end of it. I ‘ve re watched this series so many times following the story. This is Emma’s journey it always has been, Hook is the romantic interest that has been introduced in real time as the story was told, and the SF love story was always told as a chapter in her past. A way to explain some of Emma’s emotional issues, he was Henry’s father. A lot of fans wanted that past re hashed but it only brought out her pain. At least Emma was able to face that pain and come to peace with it but in coming to peace with it they didn’t end up in a place where they were reunited in that sense.

I think Neal’s death serves the story more than his being alive did. Neal got screwed over on screentime (Belle got screwed over too but hopefully 3B seems to be rectifying that). Neal’s spent the majority of his time either off screen or in a different realm from the main characters, and because of that, the audience couldn’t engage with him as much. His death makes the hunt for Zelena and defeating her more personal to the good guys. Yes, Emma, Charming, Hook, Regina and Belle would’ve defeated Zelena anyway because they’re good guys, that’s what they do, but with Neal’s death they’ve gone from “Let’s find the witch and defeat her” to “let’s take that bitch down”. Neal’s death has upped the stakes and actually shown that Zelena is a dangerous foe like Pan rather than a “villain” you root for like Regina or Rumple.
All magic comes with a price!
