ParticipantHook was great this episode. So much so that I could actually see him ending up with Emma as a long term thing. Hook showed caring towards Henry and it was genuine. It wasn’t so he could get in Emma’s pants or anything like that.
I loved how Hook didn’t know what a GPS was but pretended that he did, bless him. His line “the boy has more Bae in him than you know” Hook why do you have to be so adorable like that?
Also did anyone else get Lion King vibes from the Hook and Henry scene, this scene in particular

ParticipantSo this episode had a lot of highs and lows for me.
My favorite parts were Captain Cobra scenes and OQ scenes. I really think that Hook is going to look at being a part of Henry’s life as an opportunity to make up for his mistakes with Neal. At least on screen he seems to be the only one repeatedly advocating for Henry as well. Poor kid deserves to know what is going on even if it does sound crazy. The scenes with Hook and Henry were really sweet and it seemed to me to be 100% about Henry not Emma.
The OQ scenes were amazing as well. At least from what has been shown Regina has never really had anybody to confide in excepting Daniel. I think it is great that she is emotionally opening up to him first rather than the writers just jumping right into a relationship. I didn’t really think it was necessarily out of character for Regina to trust him with his heart because 1. she knows that he is supposed to be her true love and 2. the situation with Zelena and her accusations that she doesn’t appreciate what she does have seems to be resonating somewhat with her. I think it is interesting though that she won’t really be able to fall in love with him while her heart is out right?
Things I didn’t like… once again I felt that Emma was mean to Hook. I know it was meant to be a funny line and Emma’s use of sarcasm seems to be part of her defenses but Hook was truly being sincere and emotionally open with his offer and she threw sarcasm back in his face. Colin has mastered the hurt puppy dog look. Afterwards though she seemed to be really grateful. I still don’t like her whole head in the sand going to continue to lie to Henry approach that she seems to be taking. I am glad Hook is taking an active stand and calling her out on it.
I thought the witch fight was wayyyyy overhyped. Aside from the strategy of not bringing her heart Regina got her butt kicked. I was expecting a more even balance of attacks.
The funeral was okay. The music and the cut to Rumple was amazing but otherwise I wouldn’t be surprised if Neal fans are very unhappy with it.
For the promo I am confused. That was a very weird mashup of scenes. I was expecting a line from Emma again bringing up what he did last year. I wish there was a Canadian promo. Generally I find them to make more sense

yes – she is getting mean… only word for it. And while she is a little snarky towards everyone, he is the only one she is mean too – as if he is literally everything to her, sounding board and punching bag and she takes advantage of that vulnerability. If I was his friend i would tell him to walk away – he doesnt need to be abused. He allows it in order to support / be there for her but he needs to have some self worth too. He looked so sad. and anyone else find it ironic… he didnt have much guy liner on at all when she said that to him. sniffle sniffle. Plus I wanted to yell at her that she knows darn well she thinks the leather and liner are hot on him, so be nice! 🙂

Yes – Great lines. And I also like how he seems to be advocating for Henry… those scenes were about Henry and not Emma. I think Hook really does see Bae and an opportunity to do for Henry what he didnt/couldnt do for Bae.
Anyone else missing a little Captain Charming? I thought they were friends… I would like to see Charming hinting that Hook should hang in there… or at least a sympathetic look.
So I guess we also have our definite answer… no JR in SB. Cant wait until next week. and find out exactly what happened with the Jolly Roger.
speaking of spoilers… in next week’s promo i am very much interested in the ‘so to what do I own the honor?’ question by Hook. It went by pretty quickly and I havent had a chance at a rewatch… but did he seem a little bitter or perturbed? as if to say, you lead me around, are mean to me, leave me when convenient… what exactly do you want from me now??? I am hoping that she noticed he backed off a little and she misses him so she seeks him out… down at the docks and then realizes no ship and then drags the truth out of him.
also just in the promos Hook seemed to be getting his fanny whupped again… i really really really hope that he wins some fights. for goodness sakes – however did our pirate earn his fearsome reputation? Girls beat him up all the time… lol. i want to see Hook kick some butt!!!! I dont mean against the WWW – she has magic – that is understandable. And I hope the promo is just misleading and that he didnt do anything harsh to Ariel…

ParticipantEmma pisses me off.
Just thought I would interject that. Heh. They are running a very dangerous risk of her becoming the resident hard ass. If she doesn’t show some signs of some genuine tenderness and heart, soon, I will question why Hook even gives a damn.
Henry and Hook were quite touching and though I know that these episodes must advance at the speed of light, it was a lovely, calm touch to have Hook bonding with *the lad*, looking up to the stars, giving the only true nod to Neal. (though I have to say, the somber cemetery scene was very effective about finality…I have always thought the tradition of loved ones shoveling dirt into the grave exceptionally brutal. Words would have ruined the poignancy.) It was all about connecting to the shared emotions *man to man* and that was very cool.~ Also their boat trip was a great little nod to the fact that we all guessed right and Hook lost the Jolly Roger in his search for Emma.
Henry isn’t a focal point this season with that, self-absorbed, winey *itch of a witch chewing the scenery all over the place. (lunatic psychos are good for upping the viewership but they can wear thin, fast, if they display no redeemable qualities, and so far, I don’t care about Zelena with any sympathetic vibes at all.) She is, to me, way over the top. Fatal Attraction on crack. Breathe, oh envious freak, breathe. Her main purpose seems to be to unite everyone else, and we did that in Neverland. (and the hats? Ditch em, they are corny)
The big showdown was a big letdown. Too many spoiler scenes in the Sneak Peeks, previews. But dependable, clever Regina saved the scene with her heart trick. And I like her and Robin, very much!
Walsh is a wuss in human form. Not surprising that he is the Wizard, but if that is the kind of doofus Emma would fall for, she doesn’t deserve the passion of Hook.
Did I mention Emma is pissing me off? Oh, yeah I did! LOL
And we have Blackbeard and swashbuckling next week YAYYYYY. And it looks like Hook will have another intimate moment with the floor 🙂 ANNNDDD it looks like his tricky relationship with Ariel will give some meat to those *I hate mermaid*bones…fins…whatever. Good stuff coming.
I love Hook. I just do.
