ParticipantMr. Darcy. (wistful smile) …hey…is Emma’s powerful magic going to be the one that restores Hook’s hand? And if the lip curse isn’t Emma specific couldn’t he have planted one on Zelena while she was sneeringly invading his personal space with her lip curled venom and killed her wretched power on the spot? Gawd she is hate-able!!! And goofy hats, too. Really silly.
Gnite all.
Happy Angst Killing TLK Dreams 🙂

ParticipantThis is a really neat meta-
Everything he ever wanted to was to be that man, the one who was different, who never lied, who won her for who he is not who she thought he was. And here she is thinking he helped Ariel, when really he hates himself beyond belief for what he did to them. It’s killing him.
That face is a face of a man who think’s he no longer deserves this amazing woman. When she asks him if he did it, all he can do is try to tell the truth and say “No.” but of course Emma pulls the modesty card, and it just hurts him. Because he’s not being modest, he’s telling her the truth. He didn’t do this, Ariel did it on her own.
“When I win your heart, Emma, and I will win it… It will not be because of any trickery.”
After everything, he is still trying to be as honest and honorable as he can for her. Because he is so in love with her. And on top of ALL of this, he is now in a situation where either Zelena starts going after her family… or HE is the one to take her powers. Even if she agrees to it, for the safety of her family, HE is the one who has the curse, he is the one who has to kiss her and take everything that makes her the savior away. And he knows he could never forgive himself for that.Rest of it is here http://ronandhermionesource.tumblr.com/post/82723387909/but-no-can-we-talk-about-how-heartbreaking-this

ParticipantOn another forum I frequent someone wondered if Smee is Zelena’s spy/agent. She noted how he was called a rat and how he was always trying to push Hook into the pirate life. My guess probably not, but I thought it was interesting.
I have mixed feelings about Jolly Roger. I wanted Hook to have one person/Disney Princess believe in him and see the good in him. Someone who will stick up for him when the other princess bag on him. Emma is attracted to Hook but she doesn’t really take his side or try to see the good in him. I think there has been a miniscule change in that, but she keeps him at arms length. She always seems surprised that he does something good. Everyone has these low expectations of him but refuse to give him much credit for any good he does. I would get tired of everyone if they never gave me a chance no matter what I did.
In order for him to be seen as good, he basically needs to be a saint to convince anyone and that isn’t realistic. Snow and Emma were totally prepared to fight Mulan to keep the compass and let Aurora die, just to get home to Henry. Hook is expected to give up his ship/home for a bratty stranger who clocked him in the head, held a knife at him and acted like a toddler about the cloak. I love Ariel but she is like a little kid who is oblivious to the needs of others in a somewhat good hearted way.
Hopefully Hook starts to get some wins and some fun in his life. He needs to have people who appreciate him as a person and not a means to achieve whatever goal they have. Even Smee is more interested in what Hook can provide for him then in how Hook the person.
Also I agree that this forum is often one-sided. I feel CS’ers have to really walk on eggshells and go out of their way to not upset the SFers. Sometimes I feel just disagreeing with some of them in a normal, dispassionate way is taken so personally. It should be ok to be happy about your ship, to like your favorite characters and to say so outside of this thread. The double standard bugs me a lot. Any accusation you can make about Hook or CS would be just if not way more applicable to Rumple or Rumbelle, including the TLK not working.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.

ParticipantAs heartbreaking as everything is right now, it gives me even more faith and it’s actually kind of beautiful. He was cursed because he tried to get redemption the wrong way – by asking for it, aka: words. It backfired because of Zelena but she basically said “you tried to take the easy way out by asking for it” and this show is definitely NOT about the easy way being the way right to do things.
It almost always backfires. His actions will win out eventually and there was a ton of character growth in him chasing her down to give the heartfelt apology that he had basically gotten out of doing before that. Nobody else remembers the missing year and once again, he’s put in a position where he could have gotten away with something bad happening that nobody would connect him to, and he chose to tell “her” – stupid Zelena.
But yeah as painful as this is right now, saying you regret it and asking for forgiveness does nothing to undo any of the pain caused by it. Happy endings must be earned and while it was a step in the right direction, it’s costing him even more and will force him to earn it. After all, True Love must be fought for & Happy Endings must be earned!
The villains we know and love are slowly being redeemed but it’s never an overnight process. That’s always been a criticism – that characters appear to be redeemed too quickly but it’s always 2 steps forward, 1 step back. They slip. They make mistakes. Regina and Rumple have done some truly awful things in present day, even after they have someone in their corner who is practically begging them to do the right thing all the time (Regina slipped even with Henry in her life, Rumple slipped in spite of Belle and Neal, etc etc).
I had to laugh – I actually loved the dice scene. Not a fan of cheating at anything and it’s not that I want Henry to do anything “bad” but look at his family tree. Loaded dice are NOT the end of the world when both his birth parents were thieves, his adoptive mother was the Evil Queen, his grandmother was a bandit, his grandfather on the other side is the Dark One. Killian playing dice games for french fries and laughing and having fun? Yeah I think I’ll take that over sending him out into the woods/streets and thieving to stay alive like Neal and Emma both did, as well as Snow.
The kid’s finding a way to be happy and is surrounded by loved ones. Plus he’s the truest believer aka THE biggest proponent of good overcoming evil. So loaded dice and borrowing a boat? With his family that’s not exactly the worst possible thing to do. His parents wouldn’t have even met if his mother hadn’t been stealing a car…that his father already stole so….at least they brought the boat back and Killian was honest with him about the dice? I mean really, given how screwed up the rest of the tree is I don’t see how that’s even an issue. (Plus they’re super adorable together and Henry needs someone right now and everyone else is too afraid of betraying the secret whereas Killian needs him as much as the other way around. The kid’s having fun and it’s WAY safer than letting him drive. *shakes Charming* Seriously, go back to practicing with wooden swords or something, don’t let him drive!)
Keeper of Hook's Trenchcoat.

I wonder if him being changed from his rat form wasn’t a result of the curse being destroyed but something maybe Z did? Idk probably not but I’d be open to the possibility

I felt that way too but after a while of talking it out and getting into a few disagreements I found it better to just say what’s on my mind. I try to be respectful about it, I also try not to just get defensive over everything but if there’s something that I disagree with and I think there’s a reasonable evidence from the show I’ll say it. The mods here are good as long as people are civil they both do a good job. RG is a big SF shipper but she’s backed me more times than I can count when I’m being reasonable with something I say about Hook and CS and others are being unreasonable. Really everybody don’t worry about stomping the eggshells just get through it, respectfully stand up for yourselves if necessary but for the most part it’s not really that bad most of the time. There’s a lot of great views not just ship related in this thread the more of us that step out the more comfortable we all feel.

I dont think it’s so much as Emma is surprised at him personally anymore per say, more that he is ALWAYS there for her, supporting her- remember that for Emma is something she isnt used to at all & values highly.
JMo did an interview earlier in the season, where she said pretty much that & that Emma is used to being let down- like she said Walsh not being who he said he was & only using her to keep her away from SB wasnt really a surprise for her, it’s what men in her life do- except for Hook & Emma values him highly for it. she also said that Hook may have done some questionable things in the past- but none of those where to Emma, so for Emma she trusts him. Her only surprise is that he is always there to support her- because she simply isnt used to having someone step up & do it 😉

Agreed.

Wow, are people really getting all soap boxy over the loaded dice? I totally agree with you here as well. 1) Its a fantasy show & 2)I mean come on- It’s whats boys do- push boundaries to have fun (my brothers all cheated at poker- in fact they’d cheat at all GAMES, if they thought they could get away with it. I’m sure its a male thing lol. I dont ever cheat (unless plying cheat 😉 ) because I have a conscience the size of the moon)- they are playing for fries for crying out loud- not money or objects of value, nor is he taking Henry into the local casino to go hustling! At least it’s loaded dice & not grand theft auto or B&E o.O
Its not so much what you are playing, but who you are playing with that is important. I remember feeling so special as a child on the yacht while sailing around great barrier, when the adults allowed me to join in their game of cards one night, but only remember something about clubs & I’m still not sure what game we played (I actually can still recall almost every detail of that night, but not what we actually were playing), as I didnt really care what they were playing- I just cared about being let in on the game by my grandfather & the other older members of my family that night. It was one of the few times I really felt connected to my extended family on a deep level. So i dont understand people hating on that scene between Henry & Hook- the action of a man treating a child as an equal is what is import, not what they were doing for fun!
Charming was a little different- the way he went about it put Henry, himself & others in danger- so I cant get on board with that- he should have taken Henry out to a farm to learn to drive around a paddock rather than letting him loose on public rds in the middle of town!
