On another forum I frequent someone wondered if Smee is Zelena’s spy/agent. She noted how he was called a rat and how he was always trying to push Hook into the pirate life.

I wonder if him being changed from his rat form wasn’t a result of the curse being destroyed but something maybe Z did? Idk probably not but I’d be open to the possibility

I feel CS’ers have to really walk on eggshells and go out of their way to not upset the SFers. Sometimes I feel just disagreeing with some of them in a normal, dispassionate way is taken so personally. It should be ok to be happy about your ship, to like your favorite characters and to say so outside of this thread. The double standard bugs me a lot. Any accusation you can make about Hook or CS would be just if not way more applicable to Rumple or Rumbelle, including the TLK not working.

I felt that way too but after a while of talking it out and getting into a few disagreements I found it better to just say what’s on my mind. I try to be respectful about it, I also try not to just get defensive over everything but if there’s something that I disagree with and I think there’s a reasonable evidence from the show I’ll say it. The mods here are good as long as people are civil they both do a good job. RG is a big SF shipper but she’s backed me more times than I can count when I’m be reasonable with something I say about Hook and CS and others are being unreasonable. Really everybody don’t worry about stomping the eggshells just get through it, respectfully stand up for yourselves if necessary but for the most part it’s not really that bad most of the time. There’s a lot of great views not just ship related in this thread the more of us that step out the more comfortable we all feel.

I actually agree with you, I’ve recently started venturing out & about more again & for the most part, it isnt that bad at all anymore. Ok there are a few threads I’ve backed out of & wished I hadn’t gone into in the 1st place lol, but for the most part it isnt to bad out there anymore. I’m just about to venture out again now 😉

I have to laugh about people freaking out about the cheating at dice thing.  I am an only child.  So when I had a boy I had no idea what to do with one.  When my son started to play boards games, card games, video games, ANY games my husband had to assure me that my child was not a psychopath because he cheated all the time or randomly made up his own rules as the game went on – it’s just how boys play.  Of course, when we were playing as a family we had to point out “No way can you cheat.”  But my hubby was basically “All boys do it, they grow out of it when a bigger kid catches them and calls them on it or a when the more popular kid gets to make up the rules.”

So basically Captain Hook is the Big Bad of the sea – no one is going to call him out on cheating at dice.  He’s the equivalent of the most popular kid who always gets to make up his own rules.  But he also isn’t stupid.  He knows it’s cheating, he understands the rules of life – he is big on “good form” afterall.  That scene was meant to show bonding between Killian and Henry.  Keep in mind that two men are in charge of this show.  As my hubby points out, that was Killian being a “dad” hanging out with Henry and passing down a traditional thing guys do together.  The kid has never had a man in his life – even when he did know Neal he knew him for all of about 6 hot seconds.

Trust me, as a woman there are PLENTY of times I freak out about stuff my son says or does but men will stop me and tell me I HAVE to let it go because it is a guy thing and I DON’T understand.  And I’m talking about pastors at my church telling me that I need to let him be a guy.

So I have no concerns that Henry is going to end up incarcerated due to cheating at dice or banditry.

I just wanted to second what KJ has said about the chat.  I have gone there quite a bit lately and it’s been fun.  I only RARELY see anything purposely negative said about Killian or CS anymore and if it is said, pretty much everyone ignores it (including the SF folks) so it never goes any further than what was originally said.  I also think everyone has gotten really good at changing the subject if someone starts down a road that won’t be pleasant.  But I really don’t feel like I am walking on eggshells.

I think the good thing about the chat is lately we have been trying to talk about other OUaT topics and that has helped us find common ground.  We will often go off OUaT topics as well.  Once you get to know people in the chat it’s hard to not view them in a friendly way.

^^^ What I’ve said before and I’ll say it again now it’s surprising how much you agree with someone till you bring up ships. You’ll have similar theories, thoughts, interpretations but as soon as it comes to the direction of a ship that where things end up going bad. Before the death happened and it was just hanging over our heads it happened a few times. The thing I kept saying to myself was just let them say what they want cause I know I’m right about this and they might as well have hope while they can.

Haha, it’s funny you should say that, as I cant have children, but many of my friends have them (I tend to make friends with more mature people, so many have teenage kids) & the things their sons say & do sometimes, shock me- but as their parents say- it’s what boys do, they like to shock you etc.

I guess it’s how males learn what is & isnt acceptable around females- their parents either ignore it or laugh at them… while I’m sitting there trying not to die of shock lol If they push it to far 9 times out of 10 they realise what they’ve done & apologise without needing prompting from parents- so what they say about it being boys way of learning about social boundaries etc must have some truth to it.

I know right?! I was shocked to hear people even have a problem with it at all.

I have 3 brothers & they all cheated at games as kids- I was forever calling them out at it & they thought it was great fun trying to pull the wool over us (my sister & I) lol.

I dont get why people have a problem with Hook & dice, but Charming is ok to take a 12yr old driving for the 1st time through the center of town?! Double standards much!

Question: why do they even bother putting a shirt on Hook?

I know right- I’m hoping we eventually get a reverse scene of Killy & Emma in bed, but her parents walk in on them- time for them to have Emma “provide them a few traumatic parenthood experiences” lol ;)

Fingers crossed that they’ll actually go there 🙂
Hook will be getting new clothes soon. and he looks like Mr. Darcy when he does..
LOL, btw, my favourite scene from Colin Firths P&P was when Mr. Darcy jumped in the pond to cool off and came out all wet and sexy.  What is it with the Colins? Life ruiners

In order for him to be seen as good, he basically needs to be a saint to convince anyone and that isn’t realistic. Snow and Emma were totally prepared to fight Mulan to keep the compass and let Aurora die, just to get home to Henry. Hook is expected to give up his ship/home for a bratty stranger who clocked him in the head, held a knife at him and acted like a toddler about the cloak. I love Ariel but she is like a little kid who is oblivious to the needs of others in a somewhat good hearted way.

Double standards. Emma and Snow are the “good guys” so what they do, even if morally wrong is considered heroic, but no one seems to have any “heroic” expectations about Hook so he’s the bad guy no matter what he does.
