I go back and forth on the hook issue but ultimately I think I want him to get his hand back.

But I don’t want Emma to do it – I want Rumple to do it.

I think it’s really important for Hook to know Emma loves and accepts him for who he is, both Captain Hook and Killian Jones, and his hook is symbolic of his Captain Hook side.  So to me, even though I do get the symbolism of Emma helping Killian become “whole again” by attaching his hand, I think it’s more important that she accepts him with the hook and just doesn’t even care about it.

Having Rumple give him back his hand however would be symbolic of Rumple and Hook making amends over Milah.  At the end of the day, Belle is Rumple’s True Love and Emma is Hook’s True Love so while they both loved and mourned losing Milah (I know crazy cause then Rumple kills her) really there wasn’t a good reason for their hatred of each other.  They had to work together to save Henry, I think they worked together in the missing year somehow, they are going to work together again, and Hook is going to be his grandson’s stepfather.  So to me it would be very symbolic of not only Rumple’s forgiveness of Hook but his acceptance and appreciation of Hook to give him back his hand.

The reason’s I struggle with having him get his hand back are that even though I completely understand where they are going with his character – basically having him no longer be a pirate and getting rid of being Captain Hook – he still WAS Captain Hook.  So leaving the hook is kind of . . . cool?

Then there’s the whole thing that JMo referenced.  There is something weirdly sexy about that hook.  Even though he is completely appealing as either Hook or Killian, his darker, sexier, more adventurous, dangerous side is Captain Hook – you know the whole bad boy thing?  It would be kind of nice to keep SOME aspect of Captain Hook around if for no other reason than that and I think the hook is the easiest way to visually do that.  He will always have his brood and swagger, but there IS something about that hook . . .

Ok so we saw that the only reason our pirate DIDN’T tell Emma about the curse was because there was too much going on and doesn’t want to add unnecessary burden on Emma right?  Yeeeah I just love our pirate!

And how freakin relaxed and happy is Emma now that she’s decided not to cling to her past and use it as a reason to not enjoy herself and the moments Daddy Charming told her about??

Ok that’s all I got.  Head hurts too much candy. Time for bed.

So it’s been floating around Tumblr, but I don’t know if we’ve really discussed it here. What’s your thoughts about Hook and his hook – is it staying or will he get his hand back at some point in the future?

I go back &forth as well TBH- I dont think the hook defines Hook as a character at all, so have no problem with him having 2 hands, however I do think the hook really does add that ‘dangerous’ persona to his character, so I would miss the hook as a reminder of how far he’s come & what he has lived through…. although I do think it’d help him move on from Rumple more if he didnt have it (hook)- even as a viewer it’s pretty hard to see Rumple & Killian’s maimed arm in the same scene & not remember EXACTLY how & why he lost it!

I loved the CS scene at Granny’s but here is my question . . .

Granny’s was clearly still closed – the chairs were all still on top on the tables and no one else was there.  Why were Emma and Killian in the diner together alone when it was closed?  If Killian is so concerned about kissing her is that the BEST idea?  No wonder he was in a crappy mood.  All alone with Emma in an empty closed diner, she’s in a flirty, giggly, good mood looking all pretty in feminine clothes and he can’t kiss her!!

    Mish mash episode.

Captain Swan specifics…I don’t mind that Hook hasn’t had a chance to discuss his dilemma yet. Tons (too much actually) going on with everyone else. He needs to digest everything and he has a full load on his emotional plate (grin) but…he was crossing his legs under the table??? Hahahaha. Just, no, no, sorry, heh.

Emma is finally enjoying herself and seeing her smile is a good thing! They will get there 🙂

The rest of the episode, was just kind of weird, though I do love Regina and Snow getting some things out between them, and Regina, I am sure, egged on by Tink’s  foretelling of Robin being her soul mate AND her aching need for love, takes a yummy leap 🙂 Good for her!! But what difference has it made for her not to have a heart?? She seemed to be more emotional without it. Are they setting up Roland to” replace” Henry in her heart?  Where was Henry, by the way? For them all being so concerned about that green biatch, they leave him alone often.

The whole Cora’s ghost was just too contrived. It brought out great gutsy Regina moments, but really it was kind of lame. The flashbacks were …not the most brilliant flashback moments. Too many gaping holes even for our hole loving duo A&E.

Ah well, it had it’s moments. Emma is smiling, and worried about Hook. Zelena is a totally whacked psycho and frankly, she didn’t end up so bad with her magic able to get her most of the things she is so obsessed  over…so I don’t get her wanting to change it all anyway.  She is a nasty little scum… but her motives aren’t so solid. First it was sibling rivalry and wanting Regina not to be born, and now it is *let’s wipe out everyone*. Cora was/is just plain ugly to the core. Next week, hopefully will be a bit more…I dunno…intriguing.

Too much thinking needed for some of this jumbled…mess LOL.

He just wants her to be HAPPY and it’s one of the things I loved about him wishing they could ALL go back to the EF because this world has been cruel to her. Ultimately he wants her happy and I think once it’s made SUPER SUPER obvious how happy Killian makes her, the rest of her family will get in line.

I totally agree with everything you said here & it’s a large part of the reason I want to see them go back to FTL/EF as endgame (besides all the other practical points in favor of going back that can be made). Emma at the end of the day is the product of TL, she was supposed to grow up a strong, powerful princess with loving parents in EF- so it stands to reason her “best chance” at having everything that she ‘really’ wants (love, family, happiness), will be in EF IMO.

Henry is already on that arc this half-season because he now knows the history behind why Emma was so closed off for so long. It will give him a different angle to view things once he gets his memories back (he better), and I genuinely think he’ll just want her to be happy. I even think Snow will come around when it’s made more obvious and Emma lets those walls down a bit more. MM was always so observant and encouraging of her finding love and being happy so it’s been tough to see MM projecting onto her and guessing what it might be instead of listening to and reading Emma like she used to

    Agreed.

I just really want Emma to smile. We’ve gotten it a few times around Killian but often in the quiet moments just the two of them. So of COURSE everyone sees HIM pining for HER and consider her indifferent based on what she says. Going back and watching MM in S1 know that Emma wouldn’t be bringing something up if it were really nothing, and then jumping to conclusions in 3A about her reasoning for bringing something up can be frustrating, but Emma isn’t really giving people a lot to work with. The hints have been there from time to time, like her asking Charming if he’s trying to keep her away from Hook, or telling Snow that she kissed Hook, or the fact that she willingly has him by her side on almost everything, not to mention the COUNTLESS observations we’ve seen from Snow and Charming watching their interactions.

I actually disagree with you a little here, because I think Regina pointed it out very well- pretty much everyone ‘see’s’ how they both look at each other. I think Snowing’s gentle nudging (with all the subtlety of a freight train), was because 1) They didnt actually ‘know’ exactly what went down between Emma & him for them to have split up & Emma to be so anti relationship, yet so emotional about Neal- they assumed she still ‘love’ loved him (& Killian was just Emma trying to ‘escape’ from her fear) & 2) Neal ‘seem’ed’ the safer option from a parents stand point (esp parents whom believe in TL = 1st love & even more so because he & Emma had a child together- for Snowing that = their HEA, so why wouldnt it = Emma’s HEA as well-in their minds).

I think now Neal is gone, Snowing will more easily accept that what they are in fact seeing is Emma’s feelings for Killian arent just there because she’s afraid of the Neal option, they are there because they do genuinely have feelings for each other- despite Neal. I mean snowing cant be stupid or blind enough to not put 2 & 2 together after seeing how much Emma relies on Killian as a friend & partner. Emma doesnt have the luxury of being raised in a loving home, so she needs someone deeply loyal to her & Henry- this is the sticking point in why Snowing werent so observant in 3A IMO- they were a big cause of the reason Emma would rather be with Killian (someone who wont ever abandon her) than with Neal (someone who ditched her ‘for her own good’, much like Snowing did). Emma just couldnt come out & say “he did to me what you guys did & I cant forget that, no matter how much I try to- that trust is gone’ Because Snowing will see that as being the same with them- they can never ‘do enough’ to make it ‘ok’.

Seriously, there are SO MANY underrated moments for CS that I don’t even care when we don’t get the big stuff in the episode. Even if it’s just a scene or two, the teamwork, the supportiveness, the banter, etc etc is wonderful. It’s the little moments that make everything else special. Even if it’s just a brief lightening of the moment that makes her smile, it’s an important scene for them. Some will always say it’s been rushed but this is the slow burn guys, like Killian we’re in it for the long haul. He is plowing through those walls and now she has to work on his a bit too. But those little moments, those are our “good moments” that we have to look for, no matter what else is going on.

    AGREED 1000%!

    Happy Once-day/Easter everyone! *cookies*

    Back at you 🙂

I’m curious to that little moment between Hook and Emma coming out of Regina’s house. Was it just me thinking he was about to take her arm to help guide her down the stairs and she gave him a look of ‘what are you doing’?

Also on the hook thing, my only thought is that if they give Killian back his hand, then he is no longer Cpt Hook and I think that takes too much away from him as a fairy tale character. Having said that, if he truly becomes something more than a pirate the hook is going to get awkward. But I do like the idea of him keeping it and getting out when he needs to rely on his piratey skills. Or perhaps it will serve as a reminder of the man he no longer wants to be, much in the same way as Rumple and his cane.

If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness

Best part of the episode for me was Emma giggling she was feeling so good while with Hook:
