ParticipantIf that is the case, what now?? Everything is all messed up. You have Robin and Marian back together who were never supposed to be together in the first place and weren’t supposed to get back together, you have Marian away from whoever her TL is, you have Regina and Robin KNOWING they are TL but can’t be together, you have everyone thinking Regina executed Marian in an original past but they really don’t know that for sure AND it NEVER happened in the re-do past. It’s a big mess!!
Quite the mess indeed

ParticipantAnswering several different points from various posts, which I am enjoying 🙂
The Regina dilemma is intriguing to say the least, because as it stands in the relationship(s) none of them did anything wrong. No one is the actual villain in this sad, sad situation. Marian is an icon, a hand- glove kind of pairing with Robin; true love of legend. A fiercely independent and strong woman. I daresay her past characterizations in film have paved the way for today’s Snow and Emma. Unless A&E turn her into a dishrag, (I was more than a tad annoyed when they *killed* her off but making her mealy mouthed would be worse) this could be an amazing arc. Sad, but what a multi leveled cliffhanger for Regina when you throw in the anger at Emma! It could most definitely spread to other storylines.(It will keep Lana emoting and that is ALWAYS a good thing) I am a Regina supporter, (through good and evil) and I adored her and Robin’s relationship. I’m glad their fate isn’t in my hands because I would have no clue how to solve it. A&E have created a doozie of a drama. Hope they are up to the task!
I have yet to see Frozen. My kids and I are beyond Disney mode. From what I know of the Snow Queen tale it was based on, I think the possibilities are rather exciting. And what a coup for A&E to be able to incorporate such a popular figure! I hope it brings a multitude of new fans as well. I know the younger children of some of my co-workers seemed very excited about ELLLLSAAAA coming to life (grin). My son on the other hand is a HUGE Star Wars aficionado (as am I, especially the original trio of movies) so a Han Solo style freezing might be angsty fun and might even get him to watch the show if they keep the action level high.
Leia, Han…****”I love you” “…I know” ****(slowwww, wistfully reminiscent smile)
BLUNT RANT: Any cries and wailing about *misogyny* regarding Hook are moronic~ at best. (treating Emma like a wild animal? Really???) When intelligence-void moaning and ugly *play the gender-outrage card* groaning reaches that kind of lunatic rationale level, you have to realize that those speaking like that are grasping at outrageous *sour grape* straws. Craniums are usually firmly implanted up posteriors. Dare I say those spewings are pure *man hate*, and equally as offensive as the non-existent misogyny they claim.
Specifically, and to the point, they hate the man, Hook, because he isn’t their *Sainted by Virtue of Deluded Dreamworld Denial* Neal.
Except for brief moments of coolness and cute grins, Neal came across, to this very male appreciative woman, as a bit of a dullard. Only in the minds of runaway fan fic and faux stardust hero worship was he anything even close to shining armor territory. I didn’t think he needed to die. I was sorry that the writers chose not to continue his story but they did connect it to Rumple’s story needs. It did serve their purpose, their story. And as viewers, we are simply a third party participant, once removed. At the mercy of their writing Gods. But, he is dead. He was already dead as a possible lover to Emma. He didn’t even spend that much real time in her life with her. Appreciate him as the adult continuation of a fascinating boy, appreciate him as a son loved by his supremely flawed father, appreciate him as a first love for a young troubled woman, appreciate him as the father of an amazingly imaginative and courageous boy who has in essence more raw courage and conviction than either of his parents! Appreciate what he brought to the bigger tale. He deserves that appreciation.
But when a small portion of his fandom creates and perpetuates such an unhealthy and bile covered hateful vendetta against the writers (and another male character) because they chose to write Neal and his story as they wanted… I am now content that his character is gone. Those “fans” in their rabid hate for Hook are the ones who have left a bad taste in the mouth of viewers for Neal ~and done him more harm than any of the writers could.
Will they REALLY quit watching the show?…I hope so. OUAT doesn’t need that destructive and self-serving kind of fan sticking around and spreading ugliness. END RANT
Regarding *understanding men* I AM a feminist and admittedly never will understand living with a male mind BUT I think the lusty play, witty, bawdy innuendo and sexual sassiness is a huge part of the viva le difference between males and females. When kept on a genuine harm to none level…they have power in some ways, we have powers in another (wink) Yin yang, fair compromise, give and take, balance…!
I particularly adored Hook punching himself out! Multi-leveled character developmennnnnnt as well as frisky FUN. And I completely agree with your assessment, rumplegoldfan, of Killian’s selfless quest to help Emma find herself. That is love.
As it should be. It’s all good.

ParticipantI avoid the other threads because of all the hate. It’s too bad because it makes me miss out on some good conversation I am sure. Yes Hook likes to flirt and use sexual innuendos. It’s fun, some people are just too uptight for that I guess. He is a man of honor. Even the old version that brought Emma to his ship told her he hoped she hadn’t changed her mind. He is used to women enjoying his flirtation. I know I sure do and so does Emma.

Participant@Bo-Peeps You should really watch Frozen. It’s very well done and is not your typical Disney movie. My 12 year old and I went to see it with my mom out of curiosity to see what all the hype was about and we all LOVED it. I fell in love with Elsa as soon as she sang “Let It Go.” My son is a ballet dancer and gets made fun of all the time, and he always feels like people don’t understand him, but he has had to learn to just ignore what people say and be proud of his talent. So I felt like Elsa was singing about my son – my mom and I both cried throughout the entire song and were so glad we were the only 3 people in the theater! My son really relates to Elsa’s character. We went to Disney World over Spring break and he waited in line for 3 hours to get his picture taken with the Elsa and Anna characters (he texted me when he was 30 minutes away from the front of the line to surprise me – we had decided earlier that the line was way too long even though we both really wanted to get a picture). So we both got our picture taken with them.
Anyway, we spent weeks trying to convince my husband who is not a Disney movie kind of guy AT ALL to see it. He refused. We kept trying. And trying. We finally convinced him to watch it when it came out on iTunes. He laughed through out the movie and thought it was great – he has told several people who haven’t seen it that they need to watch it.

Participant^^^^ I’m 26 I went on my own to watch Frozen in the theater after I couldn’t find a way to borrow any children as an excuse to go see it. It was wonderful, I reserved it first day it went on sale it stands up to all the classic Disney movies really worth seeing.

ParticipantLurker here, hi :). The finale was everything I hoped it would be, and I’ve rewatched it more times than I care to admit to. My favorite scenes were with past Hook. I loved Killian creeping around behind them, it reminded me of Moulin Rouge.
I can’t even with Saint Neal, so I won’t. I notice a lot of the people talking about rape culture and Hook being a misogynist, are the same ones who believe he stole Milah. Which he didn’t, she made a choice – which seems to only be okay for a woman to make as long as all the other women in the world agree with her. Apparently we all should just stay in loveless relationships because… history? Emma was walled off, the only way to break through that is by being there for her so that she realizes he isn’t going anywhere. He never forced her and she never said no. The one unwelcomed kiss – she kicked him in the junk. She is hardly a delicate flower. I don’t even know if I made sense, I’m annoyed.

ParticipantFirst of all, let me say WOW! You guys are on a roll! It’s going to take a while to read thru all the posts but I wanted to put this here for you to read, just a continuation of the Past Hook vs Killian theme.
From http://boyfriendhook.tumblr.com/post/85736139444/also-i-dont-really-know-how-to-word-this-or-if
Also, I don’t really know how to word this or if this will make any sense at all. I could probably write a meta about it, but I’m lazy so you have to deal with this.
The past!Hook/Emma scene was probably — hands down — my most favorite part of an episode to date. I love the kisses, I love the witty remarks between them, but that scene was everything. Why, you ask? Because it shows how quick Hook falls, no matter when they meet. That was what I initially loved about the pair. In The Doctor and Tallahassee, he falls for her so quickly, he’d do anything she asked of him, be of use in whatever way (once he stops with his ridiculous blacksmith ruse). He drops his whole revenge desires, his work with Cora, because of Emma. Of course, then she goes and ruins it all and can’t handle the way she feels (I can’t be wrong about you bla bla these feels are too much to handle).
My favorite line from the entire series, thus far, I think, is Killian’s “Otherwise, I’d remember that damn bar wench I kissed. I know how you kiss. I’d have gone after her. But I didn’t. My life went on, exactly the same as before.”
It’s really, quite frankly, no different than his line in the Echo Cave… “Until I met you.” Because she’s it for him. His entire life begins again when he meets her. She’s the light at the end of his tunnel.
People have always acted like Hook is some massive villain or some terrible evil, but did you see him as past!Hook with Emma? He cleared out everyone else and was sitting there with her — completely focused on her. Sure, he wanted to do her, but let’s be real, she wasn’t the least bit against it. They go back to the Rolly Joger and she tells him what to do — the CAPTAIN of the ship, was just told what to do by a bar wench. And then, AND THEN, when she “got tired of waiting”, he apologized for not giving her his prompt attention! I mean, that Hook’s far more lusty and raring to go with ours, but that’s because our Killian has had more time to mature, more time to grow. But, whether they meet in the past or they meet in a slain camp of villagers — Hook falls for Emma.
Just harking back to what A and E said, that Hook was “always” meant for Emma. I’d like to believe that he’d fall for no matter when he met her because they were always meant to be each others TL.
