LOL, @surayya, you kill me with morning feels!! Those smoochies should be posted daily during the hiatus. I wonder if in S4 we’ll have another euphemism for “making tacos” for Killy and Emma.
One little thing that’s been bothering me, re Hook/Emma/Killian’s little romp, it was said (on the podcast) that Hook drinking and womanising in the pub was acting out of character. Can someone please tell me how a pirate BEING A PIRATE is acting out of character?? FFS, he’s been in Neverland for YEARS I think he’s allowed to get back into the swing of his old life. I’d say he’s pretty stoked to be away from that horrible place. The argument was ‘shouldn’t he be focussed on his revenge, getting the dagger, blah blah?’ Well yes, but he’s not allowed a night off? Give him time to work out where the dagger is first! He can’t use Belle as a tool in getting revenge on the Dark One (as shown in Queen of Hearts?) if 1, he doesn’t know she’s even associated with said DO and 2, the Queen hasn’t kidnapped her yet!
Anyway, I just needed to get that off my chest
Now I’m glad I havent listened to the movie podcast…. So over having everything he does being touted as OOC or bad or wrong or whatever negative spin they care to come up with- I mean really?!… whats he supposed to do?! It’s a friggn FANTASY show- he is a pirate! A pirate whom has already figured out how to kill him, he simply needs to ‘locate’ him!
Like you say, how he’s supposed to find out where to actually locate the Dark One to exact his vengeance!? Pretty sure Fairy Godmothers are Not, nor have ever been, in the habit of telling pirates how to off people, let-a-lone Dark One’s o.O
Oh, that’s the other thing that bugs me the whole Hook perpetuating “rape culture” & misogyny etc. thing …. HELLO! It’s a friggn FAMILY, FANTASY, DRAMA- lets be real here, there is NO way a flippn FAMILY show is going to be allowed to go into contentious topics like rape culture & men treating women in overtly misogynistic ways- they are Not geared towards the 10pm/ Adults only time slot for example- they are pretty much marketed towards families during prime time family viewing hour/s o.O
I haven’t listened to the podcast yet but one thing that’s been annoying me lately is the discussion every week on how the characters have been acting OOC as if the writers and creators of the show have forgotten who these characters are. I call bull$%^& on that. Hook is acting OOC because he’s in a bar drinking and womanizing? Do we all remember where he was and what he was doing when we first met him in the Crocodile? Same scene, different women. Not OOC at all. I’ve been hearing that Neal and Emma have been OOC too. Okay, Emma I get because she was acting mean for the most part, but given her conflicting emotions over her “one year hiatus from saviouring” and being torn from that good life, I can see her not being the same person she was in S1,S2 and 3A. So that explains that. However, that whole argument that Neal was acting OOC just doesn’t hold water. Let’s see, Bae who hated magic thoughtlessly threw down a magic bean taking him to– exactly where did he think he was going? Neal, thoughtlessly ditched Emma because some random stranger approached with no proof whatsoever (and just because August knew Neal was Baelfire doesn’t mean he was being honest about everything else) about some curse. Neal used a small child to get to NL, and we all know that could have turned out badly had Mulan not been quicker with the sword. And then the biggest OOC moment of all, Neal thoughtlessly opens the Dark Ones vault with no fear of consequences, even though Belle was basically yelling” WTF ARE YOU DOING!” at him the whole time. Did I miss anything, cause I’m sure there’s more.
So, rant over. Just because the plot doesn’t go your way, doesn’t mean you can throw OOC around if the characters aren’t doing what YOU think they should.

You’re right. I was very upset with Neal in the flashback in Quiet Minds, him completely ignoring the consequences until I realized, what he did was completely in character. He acts first and thinks about the consequences later, which for him, wasn’t a very smart move obviously because it cost him his life.
but looking back, I do feel Neal’s death was a natural progression of things. Look at him getting to Neverland. He was willing to use cutie Roland to get back to Emma without even considering a safer alternative.
How long and how hard did they honestly go through Rumple’s things before Roland showed up?
And it wasn’t out of character to push Hook away either because as Jennifer said, what happened with Walsh is what she’s used to. So when the truth came out about Hook’s curse, Emma reacted in a way that made sense-her walls came up. And her wanting to go back had less to do with Henry and more to do with her own security and happiness. She didn’t feel that she could be happy and safe in Storybrooke because of her role as the savior.
But Killian’s going to show her that she can be happy and have everything she’s always wanted.
OOC= the desperate cry of the deluded in ‘out of conscience’ denial.
Regarding the other subject brought up: The lame excuses that are used to try and validate the petty minds who perpetuate their hardcore ugliness with cries of misogyny and rape are a pathetic blight on this fandom.
Seriously. It is foul. And those who are cavalierly tossing those hideous insinuations around should be ashamed. But they are too busy wallowing in self-pity because a fictional storyline did not go their way.
