ParticipantOK so the opposition has been logging in some serious numbers on their thread and after skimming ours i popped in and picked a random page. LMAO – seriously are they watching the same show? Emma is like a wild animal Hook is chasing and that Neal would have let go and followed her in the portal instantly without the snark. lol really? just really now!But that would be OOC of Neal to do anything that would require him helping anyone but himself. Oh, and PLOT.One last thing can u guess when all this OOC & PLOT stuff started showing up with shocking regularity? I’ll give u a hint… Somewhere between episode 3×14 and 3×16
KJ, I have no idea what you could possibly be implying by that 🙂
Hey, you guys should try using OOC and PLOT randomly in sentences today, it’s fun!

ParticipantWith all the talk about how Marian may die in present day because she was meant to die in the past and the universe will course correct, it got me thinking about Neal. Was Neal’s death actually a course correction?
Baelfire was initially meant to be sent to the ogre war where fatalities were pretty high and to be maimed instead of killed by the ogres was considered to be lucky. Rumple himself said “The law doesn’t want you to fight, son. The law wants you to die. That’s not battle – that’s sacrifice, son.” However, Rumple became the dark one and stopped the ogre war thus intervening in what could’ve easily been Baelfire’s death.
With Rumple immortal, he wouldn’t have let Bae grow old and die, he would’ve prolonged Bae’s life forever, so once again Rumple has intervened in Baelfire’s death. Blue Fairy shows up and gives Baelfire a magic bean, despite it being the last one which could’ve been used for a better purpose. Blue said she was on the “right side” restoring the order of balance would be considered the “right” thing to do, but it wouldn’t be considered “good” to set things in motion that would lead someone to their eventual death even if they were meant to die anyway. The bean was supposed to send Baelfire and Rumple to a land without magic where Rumple couldn’t use his powers, in other words, where Rumple couldn’t prolong Baelfire’s life.
Baelfire ends up going to Victorian England where he would’ve grown old and died with time (or some illness or accident). However, once again there was an intervention in his death- this time in the form of Pan who incidentally turns out to be his grandfather. Baelfire is taken to Neverland where you never grow old.
Baelfire somehow escapes Neverland a few years later and meets Emma. Emma and Neal were in love and had planned to settle down and grow old together in Tallahassee. However, once again there was an intervention in what would have been Neal’s death (Growing old with Emma and dying of old age or an accident), Pinocchio showed up and split Emma and Neal up and they went their separate ways.
Neal met Tamara and she shot him before he went through a portal to the EF. With no proper medical care in the EF, Neal would’ve surely died from his wounds. However MAP intervened in what would’ve been Neal’s sacrificial death and healed him.
After everything that happened in Neverland, Neal ended up back in the EF where he unintentionally sacrificed his life for Rumple’s return. However, Rumple once again intervened in what would have been Neal’s death and gave him a half life by absorbing him. Neal eventually died for real when he sacrificed his life as Emma separated him from Rumple.
Baelfire/Neal was originally meant to die as a sacrifice in a land with magic in the Enchanted Forest until Rumple intervened. Neal ended up dying as a sacrifice in a town with magic in a forest when Rumple couldn’t intervene. The universe course corrected.

lol – we should. they seem to just throw out any word they want regardless of the meaning or if it is even factual to the point at hand. so sure… lets.
I have to say all their negativity against Hook makes me WANT to pick on / attack St Neal. and I never disliked Neal. I like Bae and Neal was fine… but the negative / vocal fraction of the SF population makes me want to give as good as we get – because we’ll never be able to make them see the light

ParticipantHook has done himself proud in 3B. There was no fault in his actions in the finale. I liked his line at the time portal before he jumped in after Emma. He acknowledged that he should probably should stop chasing Emma because it gets him involved in all sorts of dangerous situations but he knows he’s going to follow her wherever because he can’t help himself not to.
The development of CS in the finale was perfect. It felt like it naturally developed rather than being forced by the writers. CS wouldn’t have been believable in Neverland but they’re believable now.

That was a well thought out post POM. I completely agree!

ParticipantKillian will need something, row boat, kayak, canoe… he cant keep ‘borrowing’ boats
So maybe Killian should find himself a nice hooker.
By the way, A hooker is a small fishing boat in Ireland.

ParticipantWith all the other good stuff going on, this was a seriously underrated moment for CS.

ParticipantWe should seriously make a list of all the negative points against Hook and Neal and put mitigating actions or explanations and see who really totals up to be the better man – worthy of Emma.
Ok I’ll start Neal’s dead he gave up his life so Emma can find her happy ending with someone else. So positive point for Neal’s selfless act, positive point for Hook for Emma picking him as worthy of her affections in the finale. Negative point for Neal because he’s dead not coming back never will come back and can’t be with Emma anymore so he’s not pickable and Emma should be able to find happiness with the man who stood by her side through worlds and through time who brought down her walls and brought her home.

ParticipantMan, you KNOW the anti-Hook arguments are heated when KJ joins in! He is our peace keeper out in the rest of the forum! 🙂 I just really hope the summer calms people down. If you’re not happy, and think they ruined the show for WHATEVER reason, then the answer is simple! Stop watching! And don’t go on about the ratings, you shouldn’t care if the ratings plummet as a direct cause of your departure! (Oh, and they’re staying right on course so threatened ‘plummet’ is unlikely)
I do find it quite convenient and ironic that cries of ‘plot’ and ‘OOC’ have increased since Neal’s death. I also find it funny. If you want a seamless show with perfect continuity and character development – you’re watching the wrong show (actually, if you find that show, let me know – I want to check it out). OUAT is about telling a fantastical tale incorporating our modern day world. It’s got an enormous cast and crazy storylines. Nothing in it suggests it’s going to be focused on tying up every little bit and spelling out every little thing. OUAT is a show that you enjoy because it completely takes you out of the real world – you sit back and enjoy the ride. If you start focusing on plotholes and inconsistencies and timelines, the only thing you’re going to achieve is a migraine. OUAT also purposely doesn’t waste valuable minutes spelling everything out. Doing that takes away part of the fun – the writers assume their fanbase is intelligent enough to put pieces together and enjoys allowing them to do that. If they told every little detail and spelled out every little thing, 1) Emma and Henry would still be on their way up to Maine from the pilot and 2) it’d take away the fun you can have with headcanons and what-ifs and theories and fanfics!!

Participant@POM you have a good point regarding the ‘Final Destination’ theory – but I think that Maid Marion was more of a disruption as it had already happened and Emma changed events by saving her from death… thereby making MM exist in a world where she shouldnt.
Neal’s timeline was just his life…a collection of path choices made leading to the history of Neal. If Rumple had not taken the memory potion after Emma spilled the beans about the future and Neal was alive when she returned – then IMO it would be a similar disruption to Maid Marian and the potential for death to keep stalking Neal for a course correction may happen
