Participant@epona_610 – Yes I agree, the peasants wouldn’t have the refined dancing of the upper society. It is hard without proper dates but I’d guess Killian’s naval uniform looks to be the very quintessential British naval hero type. So around the time of Nelson? Not 100% sure when that was, 1780s? 1800? So society would be a Jane Austen type of thing, hence Killian looking like he raided Mr Darcy’s wardrobe for the ball.
And I heartily encourage rewatching Good Form. I love that ep. Not just for obvious CS reasons, I had such a crush on the bloke who plays Liam when I was a teen. 😉
@jenven – I hope they delve more into Killian’s back story too, esp as a kid. (and how cute would that kid be???) If they do, it’ll be interesting to see who his father was, since the name Jones (as in Davy) is connected to the sea.[adrotate group="5"]If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness

Participantmeh… i dont see his death that way. he opened the hole in the ground for the DO to be resurrected and was supposed to pay with his life. Rumple saved him from paying his debt. I know its just my opinion – but I felt that it was just the end of the prolonged inevitable death that he was supposed to pay a year ago and also the relieved burden on Rumple who was sharing a body and space for a second mind. I meant to put good actions get points and negative actions are subtractions. i didnt realized i missed that whole part. i guess i should really just do my job and check in during the day. hehe
Well I guess it’s more like his dying wish was that Emma find happiness which is honorable 🙂

ParticipantJust saw this- trying to locate source interview (because I NEED to read it if it has ANYTHING to do with CS 😉 )- I cant believe I have missed an interview about the finale!
There was a serious subtext to it, which is that it’s Hook looking back on the man he was. He’s another character who’s evolved some. He knows that that Hook with Emma is not something he wants to see. (Adam Horowitz)

ParticipantOn the subject of the book, Bae was in the book which he showed Tamara in Selfless, Brave and True. So some parts of Rumple’s story must be in the book which begs the question why Henry didn’t know and couldn’t work out the Mr Gold was Rumplestiltskin. Or maybe Henry only knew which characters people were meant to be when he saw them in their FTL form eg Mary-Margaret as Snow White in Save Henry, and he never saw Gold in his Rumple form.
Also if Emma and Hook were in the book after travelling back to the past, shouldn’t they have been in the book in season 1? Even though they hadn’t travelled back to the past yet, they were going to in the future, making the future events part of the past?

Thanks for the awesome Kiss link @obisgirl I really enjoyed that! Especially the last paragraph:
A first kiss can be the kiss of death or the kiss that makes us want the person more than we could ever imagine. It tells us if there is a deeper connection or we need to run the hell away. There is so much involved in the kiss we don’t even realize it. All we know is how it makes us feel. Emma and Killian got to have 4 “first kisses” and each one had such a lasting impression that it made them want the other. Their kiss was so right that no matter the circumstances and environment it made them follow and/or find the other. A kiss can tell us everything we need to know about a person and our feelings in a matter of moments. It’s all right there in the the kiss.
Great post KJ! Very true & I wonder what could possibly have happened between 3×14 & 3×16 I wonder 😛 😉

ParticipantIts like selective hearing… they hear/know what they want to.
Yes, sadly (as it brings down the fandom as a whole) it is @jenven.
Now I think it makes sense when that report came out that the Jolly Roger was being dismantled. It’s because we don’t need to see it anymore and Killian’s done with that part of his life.
It it also makes sense for his character arc too because he let go of his revenge and his first love and he gave up his home for a new home with Emma. Our ‘ship is so beautiful.
Oh I hadnt heard that, goodbye Rolly Joger/Jolly Roger- you shall be missed 🙂
I think it makes sense as well- he’s done being a pirate in the traditional sense, I look forward to seeing where he goes to next, maybe being a “captain” 1st & foremost?
It’s funny because he tend to tie Hook to his ship, but when you think about it, we 1st meet him in EF, next to a well, then tied to a tree, then trekking through the bush/forest, then climbing & having adventures up a beanstalk & back to forest again- we/he really hasnt spent all that much screen time on/with the JR since we’ve known him…. Very much the Land pirate indeed 😛 lol.We should seriously make a list of all the negative points against Hook and Neal and put mitigating actions or explanations and see who really totals up to be the better man – worthy of Emma.
Not a bad idea there.
Hey, you guys should try using OOC and PLOT randomly in sentences today, it’s fun!
LOL- Ok, why not! 😉
Well thought out post POM- very interesting idea on fate course correcting itself & Killy really was perfect, wasnt he 🙂
So maybe Killian should find himself a nice hooker.
LOL! Nice play on that word @callmeLola 😉

ParticipantWith all the other good stuff going on, this was a seriously underrated moment for CS.
It was & you know what else has been SERIOUSLY under rated for it’s MEGA foreshadowing?! This little gem of a scene-
I noticed it from the 2nd time I rewatched, but was on to big of a buzz to really ‘think’ about it much.
Someone else already has done a foreshadowing gif set 🙂
FORESHADOWING:
A clue or allusion embedded in the narrative that predicts some later event or revelation. It could be a wayward comment or action, an event that doesn’t make sense until later, a meaningful name, a rare blood type… so many things can warn us of the future. Good foreshadowing doesn’t spoil the surprise, yet seems an obvious clue in retrospect.http://saviorswan.tumblr.com/post/85815235665/paradisdesbilles-foreshadowing-a-clue-or
LOL, It’s so OOC for the fandom to not notice ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the scenes foreshadowing CS- talk about PLOT twist 😛
Man, you KNOW the anti-Hook arguments are heated when KJ joins in! He is our peace keeper out in the rest of the forum! 🙂 I just really hope the summer calms people down. If you’re not happy, and think they ruined the show for WHATEVER reason, then the answer is simple! Stop watching! And don’t go on about the ratings, you shouldn’t care if the ratings plummet as a direct cause of your departure! (Oh, and they’re staying right on course so threatened ‘plummet’ is unlikely)
I know right! & Agree with you on the 2nd point as well, if it makes you sad or angry, dont watch & for crying out loud DONT bring others down. I dont care how much so&so used to love the show, if you are going to be negative about it all, it’s called HATING on it; if you are just going to nit pick at characters & plot points, it’s called trolling & character bashing! It isnt nice & shouldnt be encouraged in any way shape or form.
I do find it quite convenient and ironic that cries of ‘plot’ and ‘OOC’ have increased since Neal’s death. I also find it funny. If you want a seamless show with perfect continuity and character development – you’re watching the wrong show (actually, if you find that show, let me know – I want to check it out). OUAT is about telling a fantastical tale incorporating our modern day world. It’s got an enormous cast and crazy storylines. Nothing in it suggests it’s going to be focused on tying up every little bit and spelling out every little thing. OUAT is a show that you enjoy because it completely takes you out of the real world – you sit back and enjoy the ride. If you start focusing on plotholes and inconsistencies and timelines, the only thing you’re going to achieve is a migraine. OUAT also purposely doesn’t waste valuable minutes spelling everything out. Doing that takes away part of the fun – the writers assume their fanbase is intelligent enough to put pieces together and enjoys allowing them to do that. If they told every little detail and spelled out every little thing, 1) Emma and Henry would still be on their way up to Maine from the pilot and 2) it’d take away the fun you can have with headcanons and what-ifs and theories and fanfics!!
Agreed! *sigh* I wish I was as eloquent with words as you are- Best post today IMO 🙂 *hands over rumcake*
I finally saw the finale and OMG, it was so beautiful, from start to finish. I loved seeing Killian and Emma in the Enchanted Forest, him teaching her how to dance at the ball was sweet, Emma finally coming to terms with everything in the room and then activating her magic. And Emma and Killian are in the book now!!!
WOW! You did well staying sane this long without seeing it! GO you! I’d have gone insane & ended up spoiling myself soooooo badly lol- it was bad enough the high speed cable hadnt gone in last week like it was meant to, so I couldnt watch live as planned, as I’d get 30secs of actual footage, then I could hear another few secs of dialogue with frozen pic, before it skipped ahead 2-5mins & got me seriously confused…. I dont think I can do “non spoiler viewing” Arrow almost killed me last night, I almost couldnt finish watching the show lol.

ParticipantI would think that peasants wouldn’t know the same dances as wealthy people…but heck, what do I know? It’s hard to try to look anything up anyway since we don’t have real dates to work with or anything.
Very true Epona, however we do have to take into consideration, that many “formal/royal” dances actually have their roots or are directly taken from rural/peasant gatherings 😉
Take the Waltz for instance, it had humble beginnings in rural Germany. In the mid 18th century, peasants began to dance something called the ‘landler’. At the time, the upper class was dancing to the minuet at their balls, but the peasants dance was so much more fun that noblemen would attend the lower class gatherings just to enjoy it. So I can imagine a fair bit of learning to & fro, as noblemen mixed & mingled with ‘commoners’ 😉 I could be waaaaaay off the mark there though- it’s just my opinion & what I know of history as it stand for us- I have NO idea what A&E have sorted out- or even if they have sorted his backstory out lol.
I do REALLLLLLLLY hope they do a another Killy backstory next season though. In regard to the ‘true love’ concept. This is something MP and I were talking about briefly in chat the other day. I think a main theme of S4 is going to be defining the concept of ‘true love’. We’ve defined ‘hope’, ‘family’, and ‘home’, so I think taking on the concept of love and true love is a natural progression for OUAT.
Ohhhhhh, I REALLY like this idea! I hope thats where they go next as well, as it;d be nice for them to truly define it for us. It would be OOC for A&E to take us in that direction 😉
Those loves are powerful. They don’t diminish the earlier loves – because each early love taught those in the relationship valuable lessons and greatly shaped who they are now. But true love is going to last, is going to support you, and is going to grow and change and encourage each partner to become the best version of themselves.
No they don’t & I hope it didn’t come off as them being diminished either (as that wasn’t the intention).
I simply needed to use them as examples of how they didn’t bring out the “best” in each other- I don’t even think the relationships had by the characters I mentioned (aside from Rumple’s past ones), were actually ‘destructive’ as such- it was more the destructive ways they ended.
IE. For Killian, Regina & Emma, it wasn’t the loss as such, it was a reason for the loss of their lovers that was absolutely destructive to the core of their characters. Their lives got better/went back to ‘normal’, but all were still very destructive in their thinking, emotional states & habits years later as a direct result of it all & things only seemed to have improved drastically for them when they’ve opened themselves up to their TL’s… I mean look at how ticked off Tink was the Regina chickened out on her TL & she straight up said to Regina on the matter (I’m paraphrasing here) ‘It was more than your own life you ruined by not embracing your TL’, so there has to be something “special” about it, or All children would be “special/products of TL”.
I am seriously holding out hope that they expand &/or define on TL vs ‘truly loving/ deeply loving someone’ next season, as it’s all a little hazy right now.On the subject of the book, Bae was in the book which he showed Tamara in Selfless, Brave and True.
Good point POM! … hmmmmmmmmm…… Well Rumple is strongly connected to Snowing’s story…so maybe Bae is in the book until he leaves Rumple, after all the curse was cast in order to get to Bae, so it’d make sense that that story be included, since it was the curse that cost Snowing their 1st child ….. That could be seen as grasping at straws & trying to make the shoe fit though…. So maybe the book is like a Fairy Godmother log book???? Or Rumple’s story??? …. I’m kinda stumped now lol
Also if Emma and Hook were in the book after travelling back to the past, shouldn’t they have been in the book in season 1? Even though they hadn’t travelled back to the past yet, they were going to in the future, making the future events part of the past?
Oh boy, please don’t get me started on this subject…… I beg you & Everyone else in here will as well (they don’t want my geek showing that badly I promise you) 😛
I’m going to go with they are aiming for us to see this as a simple “Grandfather Paradox”, ie. the past was altered & it directly changed the future of their own timeline, from the moment they got back to experience said ‘altered’ timeline. *cringes at the overt simplicity of this use of time travel*May 16, 2014 at 7:08 am #270054jenven

Me too then. Back to square 1… what do you have to do to get in that book. I thought someone’s post about august made sense but Bae squashes it
