On one of the other podcast, Colleen suggested that the book was being repaired through the magic of the wishing well / lake. TO FIND WHAT IS LOST.

STRANGER is compelled to repair the book so he takes water from the wishing well and pours it over paper / vellum to replace what was LOST.

Maybe pages damaged by them machines or by Regina ( we would have seen a clip/scene of her doing it) or the end of the story which Emma had burned and is now rewritten and placed back in the book by the stranger. We saw him hang the paper to dry. ( This process was liken to old time developing of film) We saw him return papers and rebind the book returning it to a repaired status. Other than the torn out pages that book did not looked damaged, but who is to say it had not been damaged internally.

Stranger than takes Emma to the wishing well to drink water with magic to FIND WHAT IS LOST…. thus setting her up to find the book and maybe try and get Emma to believe in magic. There seems to be some of the age old conflict between the two that have developed in people over time…. those who believe in faith / magic / powers beyond what we can see and those who believe in logic, science and only what can be discovered by our senses.

This is sort of spoilerish about this topic. This is from the recap on abc.com about the scene where August was working on the book. I am going to put it in spoilers in case.

    http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/once-upon-a-time/episode-guide/episode113-what-happened-to-frederick
“Back in Storybrooke, August is in a non-descript workspace working on what looks like a counterfeiting operation. But instead of money, he’s working on new pages for Henry’s storybook. He’s painstakingly aging the new pages to make them match old ones, then adding them to the book.”

I think those are legit written by someone who is attached to the show.

BUT this is the same site that sends out RED HERRINGS to get us to check in on new episodes… THEY MAY KNOW but they are very good at NOT spilling the beans or telling the truth to deflate our need to watch and know.

Well for now, let’s go with the “Better to have a back up and not need it, than need a backup and not have it” rule.

What if, ok, August is not Pinocchio

but Rumple’s son? I can’t remember, but when Rumple revealed to his son that he was now the keeper of the land, didn’t the son leave? If he left, wouldn’t he be able to come and go? Naturally, he would know all of the news from FTL…..

    just wondering.

The catch with that theory is, that Bealfire (Rumple’s son) would have to become immortal or at least live a few centuries, as Rumple is a few centuries old.

Immortals usually birth immortals, so television and mythology/books tell me.

Ah well, they have me hooked. I want to know, but I’m enjoying the ride of “what if?” I was so excited when I thought August was Pinocchio and then I thought, wait, maybe its Rumple’s son!

It is possible if the stranger is Baelfire that he left the fairytale world and came into our world at a later date then Emma did or even those who are cursed did. He wouldn’t have had to come into our world centuries ago i think because if someone is traveling between dimensions then it isn’t necessary that time be in sinc between the two times. I think the biggest problem with who the stranger is or who the writer of the book is is how they got so much information and where did the stranger get the information in the new pages.

It looks like he was making a copy of it. The process he was doing it is like how one would make a copy of a photograph before the digital era.

I was thinking that too. That makes me think he wasn’t adding to the book, but maybe copying a certain section from it.
