Keeper of FelixJanuary 11, 2014 at 5:50 pm #236454RumplesGirlKeymasterOk, this is Henry from Kansas or should I say Uncle Henry, I also wonder if he doubles as the wizard of oz too. I kind of hope he is Emma’s new love too at least someone close to her age and perhaps in her Era.
If he’s the Uncle Henry from Oz then he’s not in her age range as we know that Dorothy (who is around 16) went to Oz 10 years before the Curse was cast, and then you have to add in the additional 28 years of frozen time for SB. Meaning that Uncle Henry would have been uncle to a 16 yr old for 46 years before S3B. Making him at least 50ish and probably closer to 60. Christopher Gorham couldn’t pass for 50 as they have him styled and make-uped right now.
EDIT
However, I cannot think of a reason why he can’t be the Wizard. We know form ONCEWL that Regina’s curse affected all lands–kept them all frozen for 28 years until Emma arrived in SB.
The only sticky point is how he got from OZ to NYC and how he met Emma. So far, Gorham hasn’t been seen on set since 312, which seems to indicate that he’s important for NYC Cursed! Emma and not normal Emma.

This is Once the guy could be the same age as Emma, or 50ish is sure lots better then someone who is 200 or 300 years older then Emma and is older then her own parents and is her Century at least.

I didn’t say he couldn’t be a love interest. I said that Gorham, based on makeup and style, is playing a man much younger than a 50-60 yr old.

January 12, 2014 at 11:33 am #236592PheeParticipantI’m not really on board with him being the Wizard for a similar reason I’m not on board with Rumple being the Wizard – if they stick with the traditional story, then the Wizard left Oz right before Dorothy did, and if the moving on of the slippers that Jefferson referred to was Dorothy, then the Wizard left Oz many years pre-Curse. If the Wizard came back to our world at that time, he’d be older by now. Only way he wouldn’t be is if he’d ended up in another world that had time frozen by the Curse.
I mentioned in another thread about how maybe that pic that Keck tweeted of Princess Diana was a hint that Gorham’s character will be Emma’s fiancee. The more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve thought it might be plausible that he’s at least her boyfriend, even if not her fiancee. Hook and Emma shot stuff in a restaurant, which looks like the bit in the promo where he’s saying “Your parents are in danger,” but he’s saying it more calmly, doesn’t sound all desperate to convince her. Gorham was shooting stuff at the restaurant location too, wasn’t he, both inside and outside? So maybe Emma’s remembered earlier that day, (outside the cop station), and knows she has to go back to SB, so she’s meeting him one last time for dinner, (and Hook’s there talking to her before he shows up), to break up with him, hence the goodbye forehead kiss. Perhaps?
I know that the one thing everyone can agree on is that Emma doesn’t need another love interest in the mix. Maybe if we just see the end of the relationship though, it wouldn’t be as bad?
January 12, 2014 at 11:50 am #236595CindersParticipantI don’t get the feeling that he will be of much importance to our main story. I think he’s a one episode device to give us some insight to what Emma’s been up to over the last year in NYC. love interest, boss, coworker, whatever, I doubt we’ll see him again unless Emma returns to NYC in another season.
I think we’re overthinking this guy. He’s only been in one episode. And so far his only connection to Emma, or possibly Neal, is NYC.January 12, 2014 at 12:18 pm #236602PheeParticipantI think he gotta have some sort of significance, just because he’s a known actor who they’ve worked with before and they hand picked him for this role. They wouldn’t do that if he was a one shot bit part that didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

I agree with Phee on this one. The one spoiler about Chris Gorham’s character that we know for sure is that he is “someone very important in the life of Emma Swan.” That to me sounds like either a love interest, a best friend or foster brother. He’s also potentially a recurring guest star, which is how August, Neal and Hook all started out. We may meet him for the first time in 3×12 but see a lot more of him later on after 3×16.

I’m one of the few SF fans who seems to think it wouldn’t be so bad; it’d actually be somewhat amusing and interesting! I’m thinking Christopher Gorham’s character could be Emma Swan’s serious, long-term boyfriend from the past year of her life. It would be very interesting. It would somewhat parallel Neal’s relationship with Tamara. Also, it would leave us wondering just who is the best pick for Emma Swan.
I’m not really on board with him being the Wizard for a similar reason I’m not on board with Rumple being the Wizard – if they stick with the traditional story, then the Wizard left Oz right before Dorothy did, and if the moving on of the slippers that Jefferson referred to was Dorothy, then the Wizard left Oz many years pre-Curse. If time were frozen in Oz for the past 28 years, then the Wizard wouldn’t have aged. He could have been a young man when he met Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow. If so, then Chris Gorham’s character could have remained youthful in appearance and could still be someone very important in the life of Emma Swan.

As of right now he seems more important to Cursed!Emma than Real!Emma. Which is why I sorta think he might be a one time 312 character. But hey…I could be 10000% wrong too
