I love the idea of the shadow trying to find a body for himself, but that doesn’t really explain why he’s keeping the boys there. I mean, he clearly doesn’t care about the Lost Boys, but it requires a lot of effort to keep children from escaping- if they didn’t work out as a body for him to attach himself to, then he likely wouldn’t care if they lived, died, escaped or remained. I suppose the shadow had to fly them there, maybe some of the boys did escape as far as the ocean, and later became pirates?
(I also don’t think Hook is PP and I don’t think there’s a connection between Rumple at the Shadow. It seems like it would be a strained connection, and I think it would be a weak point of the show’s backstory if it turned out that way.)

It doesn’t look like travel from FTL to NL is possible without use of a portal or similar. It’s possible that some other traveler traded him the ink in the past? However- if (hopehopehope) we are dealing with a powerless Rumple in S3, I can see him turning to magical items in lieu of having powers himself. Then maybe he could seek out the squid in the future?

May 8, 2013 at 4:44 am #192150astrawoidParticipantIn the past. Neverland has magic so a portal jumper (like Jefferson) could possibly travel there, I think? I can’t remember which episode talks about Rumple getting squid ink but I know that’s what he uses for his spells.

Taking up the “sewing” idea, which is interesting. Maybe he’s holding them captive until he finds the right one to join with, not just become a part of, but actually inhabit the body of another person. Maybe he wants “form”.
Are you suggesting the Shadow possesses Bae? If he does, that would sorta mean that Bae is both Peter Pan and not Peter Pan at the same time. Bae would only be acting like Peter because Peter is controlling his body. It would also explain why Bae would even call himself Peter Pan. Adam & Eddy would also technically be correct that we won’t see Peter Pan himself until Season 3, since if this theory is true we would likely only see Peter in the flesh then.
Well, the Shadow has no name yet. Wendy didn’t call it Peter, or Pan, or Peter Pan, so it may not have that name at all. But…maybe it did once have a body, and it was the body of a dude named Peter, but something happened to separate the Shadow and now it’s just a nameless being, searching for a replacement body.
This reminds me of that little theory I’ve had for ages that The Dark One was created when Blue – “the original power”, suggesting she maybe once possessed both dark and light power – did something to try and rid herself of her darkness, and it split off and became The Dark One. Maybe someone in NL tried something similar, and now the darkness is looking for a new body, the same way The Dark One curse has to possess a body. Maybe the Shadow somehow heard rumour about Rumple, and decided that if the father went for it, so might the son, so that’s why he started looking for him as a prime candidate.
Perhaps?

Interesting. But it brings me back to a question I asked a few pages ago: if this is true, if it just wants Bae to possess, then why is it keeping the other boys captive?

That I dunno. *ponders*…
How about…because if the kids went back home, they’d tell people what had happened, and the Shadow didn’t want rumour of his existence and doings to spread. If people started to believe what all those kids said, (like how little lost Owen eventually found someone who believed him), and started watching out for him and trying to keep him away from their kids, it’d make his job harder to search for the right one. So all the witnesses have to remain trapped in NL so they don’t blab.

This thread and this thread are starting to bleed together, lol. Over there I thought that maybe the Home Office knows of the Shadow and they instruct GOAT to kidnap Henry because the Shadow needs a body to inhabit but has to find the right fit. Bae was the best fit in a very long time but the Shadow lost him and Bae joined the pirate crew who fight the Shadow. Henry is a great fit because he is Bae’s son so the Home Office needs to give the Shadow Henry in order for the Shadow to have a body and then the H.O. can control the Shadow and use him to do their bidding.
