ParticipantI thought the episode was Okay. I would give it a 6 out of 10
Liked:
Snow and Regina talk, this is what the show is supposed to be about “family”
I liked that Zelena was so self aware that she understood that she was upset that Regina took away the part of her that she felt she could relate to, and maybe even the thought process that even though Regina was also the evil queen she could still be redeemed. I wonder if Zelena is scared that she can’t be redeemed and still have the “wickedness” inside of her. I mean after all that is kind of what the show is saying right now. Regina can’t be totally redeemed with the “evil queen” inside her, Rumple can’t be redeemed with the “darkness” inside him.
I liked that Rumple is still being honest, even though I don’t feel he is getting credit for it. He has been brutally honest with Belle ever since he stated to her that he would love her with courage and honesty at the end of 5A. I also liked the dance scene even if we only got to see them be happy for like 10 seconds.
I like Mr. Hyde, I am not sure why yet but I like him he is intriguing
Mixed:
Belle seeing the castle as scary and dark, she started thinking Rumple wasn’t scary and dark even before Robin Hood scene (which was pretty early on in the relationship) so I am not buying it.
Why was Snow White the only one carting around a bow and arrows and who did she think she was going to shoot
Everyone just ending up in the woods, why don’t they ever land I don’t know in the middle of town
Disliked:
Regina blaming Zalena for Robin’s death. I agree with Zalena that if it was anyone’s fault (other than Hades) it would be Emma. OK maybe it is not completely Emma’s fault but I am really tired of her and all the other “heroes” getting off the hook for all their bad decisions. It is annoying.
I want an explanation of why Morphius already hates Rumple I also hate that Belle does not feel that Rumple has any say in their child (which they created together) sorry guys if you decide to create a child together you need to decide how to raise it together in most circumstances.

ParticipantI think Charming is at his best during bromances. I liked him in season 2 with Rumple and I really enjoyed the adventures with Arthur. I also kind of like him with Hook. He seems to shine when he is in a supportive and advice mode to other men. I thought they could have done a lot more with him and James in the Underworld but that did not develop. I would also like him to have more of a fatherly role to both of his kids. Have we even seen him hold baby Neal without Snow?

ParticipantI don’t think so, I think they will stick with just Regina. I do have a problem with the article calling it a heroic gesture. I don’t agree, I think it was kind of cowardly. Part of the struggle we have is accepting ourselves both the good and bad, I think she took the easy way out.

ParticipantI have nothing to add other than I completely and totally enjoyed this debate and as it seems I often do, I completely agree with Price of Magic

Participant)I’d rather the plot be more character focussed, instead of the characters being plot focussed. 2) Hook in scenes with other male characters who aren’t Rumple, also less scenes with Emma. Hook’s whole “revenge” storyline is dragging on beyond the most logical point. Nobody is saying Hook and Rumple have to like each other but staying out of each other’s way or having to be reluctant allies would be more natural at this stage than Hook constantly wanting revenge. Hook has moved on from Milah therefore the “revenge” plot should have been resolved. Hook’s done a lot of things against Rumple (and Belle) therefore it should have all equalled out, and Hook should’ve moved on. Having Hook continually antagonising Rumple then crying foul when Rumple retaliates only makes Hook look bad. Hook is most enjoyable when he is sharing a screen with Charming and Charming alone because Charming doesn’t put up with Hook’s crap and I actually think Hook respects him for that. Charming and Hook also play nicely off each other because they’re personalities are different to each other but they recognise they have the same goals. 3) RumBelle working together and arguing like an old married couple- “Her Handsome hero” was a good episode for them because they were working towards the same goal but disagreeing on how to get there. There is no reason for RumBelle to constantly break up/reunite every season because it gets too repetitive. Have them actually work together and resolve their issues over time instead of constantly pushing Belle off-screen and havng Rumple be evil for no reason than “power”. 4) Have Henry and Violet break up- They’re too young to be having a deep and meaningful relationship but also it wastes screentime when there are other important things going on. 5) Less Henry- Henry was annoying in the finale. He’s the least interesting of the regulars and he becomes very bratty when he get all high and mighty over something. He’s not a little kid anymore so when he throws a temper tantrum, it’s not a case of he’s too young to know any better, because he is old enough to know better and I hope he learns his lesson the hard way by having something backfire on him. 6) Actually give Emma a storyline that doesn’t revolve around Hook in some form or another. 7) Make Storybrooke have that small town charm to it again. Show some of the side characters such as Granny, the dwarves and Whale. Give them some lines. Bring back August. 8) Give Belle friends. Give everyone friends that they can hang around with who aren’t regulars or related in some form. Q
All of This!!!
Grumpy and Nova getting together. Why on earth has this not happened yet?!! It’s a loose end that’s bugged me since S1.
And This!!!
AKA
ParticipantBut since S3 I’ve felt like the side characters got less attention. This is a pity because they contributed to the charm of S1. These days, they get so little time that we can’t get invested in their story and hence feel like they’re a distraction.
I would love to see more of these characters. I would love to see Archie Hopper and Leroy have bigger roles. I loved both of these characters in season 1 and they haven’t done much of anything with them since.

ParticipantHe tried TLK and presumably he expected it might work…so all that stuff that Emma said may be the writers telling US what Rumple believes right now, too.
Exactly! Rumple does not believe and really never has believed that Belle truly loves him and the fact that TLK didn’t work just reinforces that belief.
I’ve lost Belle’s love because I can’t be a different man because I desire power too much!” “How do I solve this problem…??” “Oh, I know! I’ll get MORE power! Yup, that’ll do it.”
I think his thought process is more like, When I don’t have power I loose the people I love (Bae) so I am going to make sure I don’t loose Belle by having enough power to protect her. Of course this is circular thinking because he lost her because he wanted more power, but I don’t think he has figured this out yet.
Name one time he chose her over power.
I don’t know, how about the time he killed Pan and as a result lost not only all his power but his life also. I would call that choosing Belle and Bae over power.

ParticipantThe fact that we’re all having such a hard time reading the scene might be deliberate. All season the writers have been testing the waters on which means more to Rumple: Belle or the power/dagger/magic.
I would even say they have been testing the waters since Season 4A when they had the gauntlet lead Belle to the dagger which shows a person’s greatest weakness which is “almost always” the thing you love the most. I still believe that wording was deliberate and very specific. I guess we will find out in Season 6 if Rumple can figure out what he loves the most and if he already knows, to let the rest of us see it. I still have hope it is Belle.

ParticipantOkay I just rewatched the scene a few times. Rumple speaks to Belle-box about her dreams and then the room starts to shake. Rumple actually acknowledges what is happening: “a portal” he says. He then looks at the Belle-box, the crystal and back again at least twice if not three times. In other words, he had enough time to pick up the box and get to the crystal before the actual portal opens on the bed. He then lunges for the crystal and then looks back over to the bed where the portal opens. I think he made a deliberate decision in that moment (however he will rationalize it, he went for the crystal first after thinking about it)
For that to make sense, Rumple would have to know that someone was after Belle. At the time he didn’t know who was opening a portal but did know that it was someone who obviously had magic to do so. If we assume that magic people can “feel the aura” of the crystal why would he assume that they were after anything else. I think he looks at Belle as in deciding what should I do now, the only thing that can save her is the Crystal. He then grabs for it, looks back sees the portal take Belle and then lunges for the mattress like he can’t believe that just happened. In other words he expected the portal to take the crystal and leave Belle alone.

ParticipantHyde stated that he was “trapped” in this land so I thought maybe Rumple trapped him and that is why he wants revenge on the dark one. He was obviously looking for a weakness because as soon as he heard that Rumple was trying to save the woman he loved he let go of Hook for questions. I wonder if there is no good in Hyde because he is nothing but evil? That makes for a completely flat character, and would be that there is no good in the Evil Queen? I hope this is not the way they are going as I love the villains with some (even if it is very little) redeemable qualities.
