beauty the beastParticipant
I hope we finally learn why Rumpel is so interested in first-born children in “The Return.” I want to say that it probably has something to do with Bae, but the whole true love potion is making me second guess myself. I also think he needs children born from true love. But how exactly will those children factor into the potion or curse?
[adrotate group="5"]beauty the beastParticipantDavid is…*Sigh*…David is, bless his heart, a doof. 😆 And on top of that, he’s a little naive. I know it’s because of the curse, but it still irks me. Mary Margaret ahs more courage than him for God’s sake.
But then again, I’m not sure how valid my opinion is, given the fact that I tend to gravitate towards the villains on the show. 😆

Do you think something bad would happen to him if he did not follow a deal? He was freaking out in the first episode when it seemed like Snow was not going to give the name of her baby!
I think that was because when he met Emma and said her name in Granny’s Inn he got his memories back. It was very important that he got Emma’s name before the curse.
I really like this theory. I always thought that first scene between Mr. Gold and Emma was a bit…strange. At first, I thought it was because he remeber ed her name from Fairytale. But it could be that he didn’t remember until he heard her name for the first time. Hmm, I guess we’ll find out soon enough. 😉

I like the Oz theory and the Peter Pan one. I just want him to be someone else and not one of the obvious ones like Pinocchio or Bae.
I come completely agree. 😉 I’d hate for us to be waiting all season long to find out who this mysterious stranger is only to find out that he’s a wooden boy. 🙄 I would love for him to be someone powerful or dangerous. :ugeek:
beauty the beastParticipantHmm, I’d actually be pretty creeped out if August was Henry’s father. But if it is true, then the writers better have a good explanation as to why Emma doesn’t recognize him. Because Emma had no idea who he was, and still doesn’t.

Yes, but the characters still retain the essence of who they are in the original stories. Snow White may be tougher- but she is still a beautiful young woman who is essentially good. Rumple didn’t have a love interest before- or a back story- but his personality echoes back to his original story.
Even if they did decide to take liberties with the Wizard of Oz story and make Oz young and smart and out of character, I think having August be the Wizard would be silly and wouldn’t fit in with the show at all. I don’t think the writers would pull something out of the blue like that. It just doesn’t make sense that a character who knows that the book is real and knows that he needs to get Emma to believe is actually someone who has no reason to be involved at all at this point.
If August is Pinocchio, he is a Pinocchio who left fairy tale world and grew up in our world so it makes sense that he might wear a leather jacket and ride a motorcycle. He still has some core traits of the character- insisting he doesn’t lie even though he does on occasion and talking about having faith and believing, all very much a part of the Pinocchio story.
Hmm, it depends. The writers managed to make Beauty and the Beast fit into the storyline. They made Alice in Wonderland fit into the storyline too. We’ll have to see the episode to find out. 😉
beauty the beastParticipantWOW!!! You made a lot of good points! I never even considered Oz. And don’t forget about the Lemurs! The flying monkeys could aslo be a clue. 😉

I, for one, am eager to hear what tales Rumple will tell once he starts his therapy with Archie.
WHOA. Now that will be a must-see episode. 😯
However, I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Gold will manage to turn the therapy session againt. Archie. Archie is, bless his heart, a bit of a simpleton. 😆 I don’t see him being able to trick or manipulate Mr. Gold into revealing NOTHIN’!
beauty the beastParticipantI actually fear for the safety of the residents of Storybrooke if something bad happens to Belle. 😯 If that happens, the Mr. Gold will abandon his cover-up and just go nuts. His Rumpel persona would resurface.
beauty the beastParticipantUGH!!! We’re talking about this again? I thought we changed the subject to something else? This topic is dividing us. We’re all family here. Let’s just change the topic for now. 😉
To answer Midnight Dreary’s question about what direction will the writers take Rumpel’s character in season 2, I think it depends on how the finale will end. If Regina ends up killing Belle, then Mr. Gold is going to go on an unstoppable war path. But if Belle survives the finale, then…I’m not sure where his character will go. He’s too complex and mysterious to try to predict. The wrietrs have done an amazing job keeping Mr. Gold’s mystique. 😉
