Everyone presented some legitimate points worth discussing, but it’s no longer on Crystal Princess’s original topic. RumplesGirl is right that this seemed like a creative conversation that could have continued, but I have decided that we need to close it in order to keep things civil.
However, I have decided that this thread will remain visible and readable for the benefit of anyone seeking other ideas and perspectives on these points.

I’m sorry about that! The chat software was supposed to invoice me when it was due for renewal, but it didn’t. I renewed it and everything is working again.
I’m still looking for a better chat room that meets our needs.

This thread will remain closed, but unremoved. There has been some legitimate conversation in here (albeit controversial, but that’s welcome). It seems both sides have made their points and further discussion is only escalating into fights, which we can’t have here.
So for the sake of everyone involved, their valuable thoughts, and the time they invested in exploring this idea, we’re leaving this thread online. But it is now closed to further discussion.
Thank you for participating and I’m trying trying to keep things civil. Some of you didn’t hold it back anymore, but it’s time to let it go, turn away, because we closed the door. 🙂

I’m in the middle of launching a couple big projects. When I finish, I’ll return to setting up the spam-prevention tool correctly. (Last time I set it up, it blocked 60% of our users and deleted a bunch of valid threads.)
- Quoting works again! You no longer have to switch to the Text tab to quote.
- But quoting quotations is still buggy.

I believe these were the only lost posts from the database restore. If anything else is missing or there are any other problems, please email [email protected].
I tried to clean-up spam yesterday, and the system got hyperactive and marked more than half of our users as spammers / “sploggers,” removed posts, and removed users. So I had to revert to a backup of the forum.
Any posts between noon (EDT/GMT-4) and 8 pm (EDT/GMT-4) on May 20 have disappeared, but I’m slowing restoring what I can. I’ll update this thread as issues are resolved.
