ParticipantThe “coward” shout gives a whole new context to Belle’s “coward” accusation. Can you imagine what it would feel like to go through centuries of life with your last memory of your only child being his shouting “coward” at you–and then to have the only other person you’ve loved make the same accusation as she’s walking out of your life forever? I have a son stationed overseas. Once a year we see each other, and we’re both careful to be sure our parting words are words of love because we realize we may not see each other again.
Which brings me to my least favorite–most painful– part of the episode. When Gold began his apology and August wouldn’t look him in the eye, I realized August had been conning Gold. When my son walks in after a year apart, darn tootin’ I’m looking at him for as long as I can before he leaves again. There was nothing August could say that would convince me he was justified in continuing with the con game once Gold asked for forgiveness.
On the plus side, I was thrilled by Gold ‘s confession. I have hope that this is the first step toward reformation for him (once he recovers from his anger at August.)

ParticipantMaybe we need a “second favorite” poll, or one that would separate the FTL personae from the SB ones.

ParticipantMidnight Dreary, shall we go a step farther out on the limb and say that Mother Superior remembers FTL, knows the whole story? I want to also say that the “August is Bae” con was her idea, as a test to see if Gold has changed and therefore deserves a reunion with the real Bae. This is the only way I can forgive August for the cruelest of lies–if it’s meant to serve a higher purpose.
A side benefit to BF’s plan: by putting her fairies in a convent she ensures none of them will run off with dwarves.

ParticipantMy thought was that Gold looked at the dagger as his back door. If, after the war, he hasn’t found Bae, he can retrieve the dagger, return to one of the realms with magic, and resume his search. When he gave the dagger to “Bae” it was a way of saying he would never pursue magic again, that the only reason he had hung onto the magic was to find Bae.

ParticipantAfter all the emotion that we’ve been dragged through concerning August, the writers will have to work extra hard to win me back to this particular storyline. I’ve got August fatigue.

ParticipantI ‘d like Rumple’s cozy cottage from “The Return.” It looks like a sweet place to have a bowl of stew, curl up by the fire with a good book and read stories to my family.

You know how sometimes certain thoughts just pop into you head with no evidence…just gut feeling? Well, last week when I was watching “The Return” and Henry popped into Gold’s store, the only thing going through my head was “Grandpa”?
I know what you mean. For the longest time I ‘ve had the feeling that James is Rumple’s son,, though all logic would argue otherwise. The trigger for me was that Rumple sniffed James’ cloak, just as MM sniffed Emma’s baby blanket. But it would give Rumple another reason to be so invested in Snow’s future. It’s too farfetched to be an idea, but I harbor the feeling nonetheless.

ParticipantI’m calling that Mother Superior knows where Bae is and will tell Gold when she’s convinced he’s changed.

ParticipantThere seem to be two types of magic: the power that originates within and that which comes from a substance (fairy dust, potions). The former seems to be acquired by taking it away from a possessor (and so far, it seems the only way to do that is by killing). The latter type of magic seems to be learned (Rumple’s lab and books, the recipe for the sleeping spell and the dark curse) . But whether a person has to have inner magic in order to use the substance magic remains to be seen.
I’m looking forward to seeing how Cora and Regina got their powers (I suspect Regina got hers by killing Cora, then apprenticed under Rumple to learn the substance magic.) I’d. also like to see the birth and development of a fairy. And Jefferson–is his magic limited to a sole substance?
Morraine does say something about the Reul Ghorm being “the original power…bigger than anything.”
