JosephineParticipant
There is song called “Dagger Through the Heart” by Dolly Parton that sums up what this show has done to us. Here is an excerpt.
Do you think that my feelings don’t matter,
Or your cheatin’ or hurtful remarks
When you leave me all broken and shattered
It’s like a dagger through the heartOh, I know I’m a fool to keep stayin’
When you’ve made hurtin’ me such an art,
Tossed around like a used box of crayons,
It’s like a dagger through the heart[adrotate group="5"]Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.
JosephineParticipantOkay, once again the time line makes no sense. Cora said to Regina it has been one year since Daniel died. Or did I mishear that. I know it’s the anniversary but I was sure she said it was a year. So in that year the following would have happened: Snow grew from Bailey to Ginny, Regina killed her husband, made Snow and outlaw, and then enslaved Graham?
Maybe I just heard wrong and it was just the anniversary.

JosephineParticipantI figured we’d at least see where Cora steals Henry Sr. and puts him in her heart vault in Wonderland. But then that might be too much continuity for one season…or show.

Both of my grandmothers were in their forties when they had their youngest kids. And today even more women are pushing motherhood into their 40s and beyond through various methods.
I was in the camp that Zelena was lying, but based on the spoilers I guess it’s true. And I really do not think stealing an unborn fetus is something that Once would tackle. (However, I do suspect it on Grimm so maybe Once could be trying to copy them. But those are oddly extending circumstances and a captivating story line on Grimm. On Once, it’s cringe-worthy.)

Okay, I’ll play. I got one for Belle. It’s Sarah McLachlan’s “Do What You Have to Do”. It’s about knowing she has to give up this person but she can’t let go.
Do What You Have To Do
What ravages of spirit conjured this tempestuous rage
Created you a monster broken by the rule of love
And fate has led you through it, you do what you have to do
And fate has led you through it, you do what you have to doAnd I have the sense to recognize that I don’t know how to let you go
Every moment marked with apparitions of your soul
I’m ever swiftly moving, trying to escape this desire
The yearning to be near you, I do what I have to do
The yearning to be near you, I do what I have to doAnd I have sense to recognize that I don’t know how to let you go
I don’t how to let you goA glowing ember burning hot and burning slow
Deep within I’m shaken by the violence of existing for only you
I know I can’t be with you, I do what I have to do
I know I can’t be with you, I do what I have to doAnd I have sense to recognize but I don’t know how to let you go
I don’t know how to let you goI don’t know how to let you go
Her proclaiming, “I know I can’t be with you, I do what I have to do” just reminds me of Rumbelle. She can’t be with him. It’s not healthy for her and she recognizes it but it doesn’t mean the love is gone.
Darn feelings.

JosephineParticipantI am on board with Belle taking Rumple’s money, crossing the line and exploring the world. It had always been her dream and she never got it. If Rumple dies then what ties does Belle actually have to anyone in Storybrooke besides her father? She’s just a source of information. And if Bobby would actually leave Once, I don’t know that Emilie would really want to stay. She might, but she might not want to do it.
What she doesn’t need is another romantic entanglement. She needs to have some serious “me” time.

JosephineParticipantI quite. I had to get out of it. It’s just jarring to rewatch season one and then watch this season. The acting, the stories, the dialogue is just different. I got that feeling again watching those episodes. My heart can’t take watching “Desperate Souls”. I might break down.
So I’m done. And I didn’t even put in “Skin Deep”. I was strong.

JosephineParticipantOh, God, the pain. So beautiful. Makes me want to cry and complain and tell and scream.

JosephineParticipantThat type of ending is not unheard of. Just look at the following shows:
St. Elsewhere – The imaginings of an autistic boy’s mind
Newhart – Bob Newhart wakes up in bed with Suzanne Plushette (his old tv wife from The Bob Newhart Show) and his live as a Vermont Innkeeper was all a dream.
Rosanne – At the end we find out Dan really died, and all kinds of things are different than what we thought as she’s writing her memoirs
So this type of ending isn’t unusual, but often unsatisfying to the viewer. Would Adam and Eddy, though, actually end their show in this manner? I think not but it would be an interesting twist just to see the fandom implode. A zillion points if Emma, Neal and Henry end up together in the end. I might even throw in Regina as Henry’s adopted mom. 😉

JosephineParticipantPart of me hopes they filmed the ending when they made the pilot. Hear me out. The beginning of the Pilot showed us Henry on a bus to Boston searching for his birth mom. So a small evil part of me hopes they also filmed at the time another take of that scene of young Henry (had to be filmed originally because Jared has grown so much). Imagine the following:
Henry is asleep with an old familiar book open on his lap. It slips to the floor, the noise awakening him. He’s discombobulated. His neighbor picks up the book and hands it to him saying, “I think this is yours.” And Henry responds with something like, “Thanks. I just had the strangest dream.” And the neighbor says “Maybe you shouldn’t read before falling off to sleep.” Leaving viewers to realize the whole thing was just a thing Henry dreamed of on his way to searching out his birth mom. 😈
