Well. All Regina broke was the memory part, I -think-. They’re still in Storybrooke, after all (though to be fair they were last time, too).

Secondly, Regina was the first person to give Henry a TLK after he believed.

It may have more to do in this particular case with Henry than with which mother kissed him.

However, it occurs to me that since they used Charming’s heart to cast the curse, their TL is still all over it.

I think it helped that while Snow enacted the curse, Regina had to do all the magic bits. So her DNA is all up in the curse too. Also, Henry is the son of the savior. I think his true love for both his moms is as powerful as Emma’s true love for her son.

What I loved was how Rumple said “Light” while he was looking at Belle. His flicker of light in an ocean of darkness, able to reach him through his madness.

Yes, but that’s exposure with an intent to have the child die. I just didn’t get the vibe that this was Cora’s intention, which puts it a sliiiiiiight step below infanticide. I don’t really mean to be a Cora apologist here, but, I’ll buy that her act wasn’t as evil as that.

Oh, she was 100% being selfish, and her parting “lesson” to Zelena was hardly helpful (and might be what planted the “wickedness” in her).

BUT. Abandonment and infanticide are not -quite- the same level of awful. She didn’t kill Zelena, and the fact that she gave the child any kind of advice at all…and put her in a nice basket at least…suggests that she didn’t expect Zelena to necessarily die. She didn’t really care much WHAT happened as long as the child wasn’t holding her back, but she didn’t kill her.

I don’t think she abandoned Zelena to die, though I agree that it wasn’t the kindest way to abandon her. I had the impression she left the baby near the crossroads.

No…I really should start collecting those.

    But google rescued me.

@lalala_broadway wasn't inside her when she did bad stuff. Remained pure in stasis.

Well, Cora’s heart was pretty light in 216, and Adam answered a twitter question about it after we saw the spot in Snow’s heart…if my memory is correct. Basically he said, yup, it’s cuz it wasn’t in her body.

My impression was that it was about vengeance rather than a simple trade. Also, just then Snow didn’t have anything balancing her out–she’d erased the effect (protection perhaps) of love in her heart, and it was clearly affecting all her interactions with everyone. That perhaps amplified the risk of her killing Regina out of vengeance.

When she killed Cora it was with mixed emotions and at least partly out of love for the family she was trying to save. It DID darken her heart, but perhaps less because (as Rumple pointed out) the killing was partly in self-defense/defense of her loved ones.

Also, Cora’s heart was never actually darkened much because it wasn’t in her body when she did most of her worst deeds.

So maybe the math still works–but there wasn’t as much darkness to take on, despite Cora’s villainy. So it was only as dark as Cora pre-Rumple breakup (which imo is still pretty shady, but her worst crimes at that point were lying and abandoning her child at that point).
