KebParticipant
I’m wondering very much if Regina’s got Rumple scared of even more than the seer’s prophecy. David’s right, this isn’t even close to repaying the debt that he now owes the Charmings–who got him back to Storybrooke, defended him against Regina and Cora at the risk of their own lives, and Snow on top of all of it sacrificing her innocence to give him Cora’s life. Not even CLOSE.
But Regina is smart enough (and was in the know enough) to know that Rumple benefited from her mother’s death. She knows that he was dying and stole her mother’s life. She’s got absolutely no reason not to seek vengeance against him, too, except that it’s complicated by the fact that he’s immortal in places with magic due to being the Dark One, and powerful enough that she does have some fear of him. She might not know how much of a role he played in things, but she knows he was involved somehow. She knows he’s the puppetmaster most of the time. If she managed to get control of something that mattered to him, or if she made a deal with him (and we know he can’t resist those), he might restrain himself from helping the Charmings beyond the warning (which he clearly feels he owes them that much).
The question is–what could she offer him or threaten him with at this point that would do that? Did she offer him a way to get Belle back? Something to do with Bae? A new threat to one or the other? Did she say something that triggered his fear of Henry?
Of course there is the possibility that he is trying to distance himself–perhaps because of Henry–and thus just being a jerk. But that seems out of character for him–there’s always a reason when he’s a jerk, even if it’s not immediately apparent or seems really petty compared to his reaction. Like when he wouldn’t help save Greg’s life, he was just coming off the failure of TLK the same night that Hook shot Belle AND the Charmings wouldn’t let him kill Hook, plus they didn’t even let him see Belle right away. Also, he had a valid enough point about the risks of what Greg saw that the council actually took it up for discussion ever so briefly. So, yeah, he was a jerk, but he had reasons.
Gah, is it Onceday yet?

KebParticipantRegina knew that her mother’s heart was not in her body, at least at this point. She may not have known that before the curse, but she told Snow that her mother removed her heart to protect herself. Presumably Cora and she had that conversation after Cora got to Storybrooke.

KebParticipantI suddenly suspect that Tamara will be his key to getting back to Storybrooke. Wouldn’t that be an interesting twist?

KebParticipantI think we understand her a little better, but I think there is more to the story–more between her and Rumple, and more between her and Eva. This was only the start of what happened between them.
I did feel like it showed us that she wasn’t some pure heart corrupted by magic, which I appreciated; Rumple was happy to give her what she wanted, and she demanded more, eager for more power. She was already a fairly hardened woman and her bitterness came from her situation and being taken advantage of by those who had power. She was also already manipulative and clever, as we see at the ball before she even meets Rumple. I like that those things were consistent with her character, as was her adaptability and intelligence. Magic and removing her heart made her worse, no doubt, but she was Cora when Rumple met her, and Rumple of 40 B.C. found her intelligence and sass fascinating, since not many could be his equal and even fewer would dare to try.
(I’m in the camp that he fell for Belle because of her intelligence as well as her bravery and caring nature…and I suspect that while he might not respect David’s intelligence that much, he does admire his bravery and steadfastness; David actually got a hit in when they were swordfighting, and David was behind his imprisonment in FTL. He respects Emma for the same reasons: She’s smart and not scared of him. And while their relationship has mostly become hatred, I don’t think he sees Regina as a complete dupe either–he’s even said she’s a smart woman. As a very smart man, he respects the smarts; as a coward, he respects bravery; as the Dark One, he’s been in a position to suss both out very, very quickly.)

KebParticipantPerhaps Tamara is Hook’s way back to Storybrooke. Not necessarily a good thing for her, if so…
