February 13, 2015 at 6:28 pm in reply to: EW Spoiler Room (2/13/15): Can Belle ever forgive Rumple on Once Upon a Time? #295905

ParticipantNope, I want to see every gloriously angsty moment of Rumple winning Belle back. But I do believe she will eventually forgive him, because she loves him and has for a very long time. She didn’t banish him just because of what he did to her, though that was part of it; she did it because she’s a hero and she had to stop him. If/when he can persuade her that he really has changed and won’t be murdering the peasants anymore, she’ll take him back.

ParticipantDay 12- Least Favourite Villain
Hm…out of the three main cast ones, I’d go with Regina. Sometimes her whininess gets on my nerves.
Out of the major villains they’ve faced since the curse broke (Cora, Pan, Zelena, Ingrid), I’m going to pick…Zelena. I was really looking forward to the Oz arc, and I don’t dislike the character per se, but I felt like they could have done more with it and the show would have been enriched by keeping her alive (or else making her death actually relevant to Regina & Rumple’s arcs in 4A). Oh, and she killed Neal. The actress, mind you, was fabulous.
Minor villains? I’ll go with Bo-Peep. I think I enjoyed her a lot more than some, but she was over the top and that whole episode could have been tighter; tweaking her or making her relevant beyond the one ep would have helped. (I mean, what, she can’t even be partly responsible for David’s father’s death?)

ParticipantDay 11- Favourite Villain
I tend to put Regina, Hook, and Rumple in a separate box from the more transient villains–they’re all anti-heroes more than villains at this point, even though they have their villainous arcs and tendencies. Rumple would be the obvious choice for this category otherwise.
So, pushing those three aside, I’m going to go with Cora.
She’s probably one of the most fleshed out of the transient Big Bads, which helps. Her influence throughout the series is palpable, and I love that she helps make monsters and makes them worse. I love how she does evil stuff and believes she’s justified. I love how her ambition drives her. And while I was rooting as much as anyone for her well-deserved death (and hated seeing her with Rumple, though it was less creepy than Zelena…), afterwards I felt like she left quite the hole to fill in the show and I was glad when they found ways to bring her back. Also, her fashion sense…yeah.
She’s pretty much the perfect big bad, and even Pan was a disappointment by comparison for me.

ParticipantI agree that once Rumple had Hook’s heart, Hook is off the hook for his subsequent behaviors (though I -am- disappointed that the writers didn’t allow him to even try to alert Belle to what was going on at that point).
However, he had his heart for half the arc, and still did some shady stuff. He tried to blackmail and manipulate Rumple (dumb move), beat up Will over nothing, and (while he had put himself into a difficult situation at that point) did help Rumple hat the apprentice. Those things were all before his heart was taken; his culpability for the worst bits is a bit mixed because Rumple was manipulating him, but he sparked that off by trying to do the same to Rumple.
And in balancing Hook’s character we do have to keep in mind that he’s very much neutral on the good-evil RPG scale–he’ll pick whichever side furthers his personal agendas. When he’s pursuing Emma, who is far closer to the Good side, his behavior adjusts accordingly. So does Rumple’s when he’s pursuing Belle (and not thinking he can get away with stuff behind her back). When we get to 4A, it’s probably been less than six months since he attempted to kill one man and in the process condemned another just to get his ship back. He may have regretted the decision, but it’s still a choice he freely made, even post-Revenge mode.

ParticipantDay 10- Least Favourite Guest Character (Appeared in 3 episodes or less)
Alphonse Frankenstein (Whale’s dad): After the Outsider, there was a three week hiatus, and then we got “In the Name of the Brother” which had some great moments…and then the terrible flashbacks that I almost couldn’t bear to rewatch. I found myself skipping those scenes almost every time I rewatched it. It was THAT BAD. The story was not great, but some solid acting might have saved it. And it really sucks, because Whale’s a character I DO like and I did enjoy that it was his brother he was trying to save. This was, however, his chance to shine and he didn’t…partly because of Alphonse.

ParticipantFavorite Guest:
I’m gonna go with Nova here. Maybe it’s a shipping thing (I ship her and Leroy so hard) but her story is the one I’d most love to see come back into play.

ParticipantLeast fave male recurring:
I hate to do this because when he first appeared I loved him, but Robin Hood. Bringing back Marian and the affair with Regina ruined the character for me. He became a whiny, indecisive man without enough respect for either of the women he loved OR his son to make the hard choices his situation presented him with and stick by them. It’s to the point where I’m headcanoning that the actor change represents some kind of spell or replacement IN THE SHOW, and the only time we saw the Real Robin Hood was in Lacey.
I even liked him through most of S3 and was -almost- willing to accept OQ when they brought Marian back; at that point, for me, the only truly consistent choice for Robin Hood in my eyes was for him to choose Marian and respect Regina’s request that he stick with that choice. He did neither (and both at the same time), and that made me lose all respect for the character and feel that it was completely inconsistent with both the Robin Hood of legend and the Robin we saw in Lacey, Wonderland, and early S3.

ParticipantWell, I don’t have Wonderland fully timelined yet as it is. There was talk of putting it on its own timeline. Given that the number of entries seems to be slowing down the timeline software, that might be a good idea.
We only have (so far) a few things to help us figure out how the events of Wonderland intersect–the belief that the storm is the wraith from S2 and Cora’s and Robin’s presence in the flashbacks. (It’s possible that Anastasia’s mom in the flashbacks is another clue.)
That means a lot of guessing to match things up. I’m hoping that when they explain Will’s presence in Storybrooke right now, it will clear things up a bit. However, if it doesn’t…well, eventually I do intend to timeline all of Wonderland and I still want to combine the two timelines at least on my own spreadsheet.

ParticipantOkay, I changed the numbers to go with the 1937 date because it IS a cool date and the show canon strongly supports it. It’s still flawed and I don’t know what A&E would say if you told them how old they indicated everyone is right now…but….it’s on both timelines.
