ModeratorThis flashback added nothing to Hook. He has father issues and was hell-bent on revenge. News at 11! We knew all this. Meeting his father added nothing to it.
Had his father tied into the upcoming Underworld arc, they could have made these flashback significant. He could have sold his soul to Hades, or something. But nope.

ModeratorI just hope that with Cora returning in 5B, that they don’t miss the opportunity to have her and Zelena finally interact. Now that Zelena definitely didn’t join the gang for the trip, this sadly may be the case. Unless Zelena somehow joins them in the Underworld later on, or whatever.

ModeratorThe PapaHook flashback could have made a lot more sense had it NOT taken place during Regina’s time as the Evil Queen. The sleeping curse explanation was pretty out there and just plain odd. Of course, I think they could have just kept the first flashback of PapaHook, and left the entire rest of the episode to just present day Storybrooke. Way too many loose ends were sacrificed as a result. Including the Camelot crew and Merida’s exit, which we know was filmed.

ModeratorIs it me, or does 5B seem like its one big rehash of 3A’s Neverland arc? “Swan Song” ended with our heroes heading on a boat to a different world in order to save someone else, just like the Season 2 finale “And Straight On Til’ Morning.” Though, I do have to say that the Underworld arc has a huge advantage over Neverland for its setting. Neverland suffered from filming in a small indoor soundstage that was all a boring dark jungle. The twist they’re doing with the Underworld, though, is that it seems like we’re getting a hellish version of Storybrooke. Seeing all of these dead characters again should be fun, too.

ModeratorAnother thing that hurts about Rumple becoming the Dark One again is that he chose to do so as a mere mortal man. This wasn’t Rumple with the darkness inside him manipulating him. He 100% willingly chose to go that route all on his own.

ModeratorThere is the possibility that those scenes with the Camelot crew and Merida that we know were filmed will be in 512. For the reference: http://katmtan.tumblr.com/post/134412804657/the-last-day-of-the-camelot-people-youll-just
I just hope Adam and Eddy address this SOMEHOW. You can’t just cut out their exit. That would be like cutting out Anna and Elsa’s exit back at the end of Season 4A.

ModeratorNobody, NOBODY wanted this to happen. They went as dark as they could with Rumple all last Season, to the point where his heart was dying. Then they go through all the trouble of making Rumple a hero this half of the Season, only to backpeddal completely? What we fans really wanted was to see Rumple’s character continue to develop without magic as a crutch. Making him the Dark One again undones all of that completely. To add salt to the wounds, Belle takes him back JUST before it was revealed he reverted back. Not to mention, wasn’t the entire point of this storyarc to destroy the Dark One once and for all? The only “good reason” I could think of for all of this is if the writers want Rumple to willingly give up his powers the next time around. But is that what the writers honestly want to do? We all fear they really did this because they prefer writing Rumple as a villain, and would prefer to continue going that route.
