Ummmmmmmmmmm
did anyone else see this?
It was in the 20 sec version of the promo that the official OUAT Twitter tweeted.
Snow White closes in on her prey but will the hero Rumple save the day? Watch #HeroesAndVillains Sunday to find out!https://t.co/FUipAjL9CE

I’m guessing the show title card for the finale might actually say “Heroes and Villains.”

ModeratorCora said if Rumple dies before the DO power is passed on to someone, that magic just evaporates.
Cora: More than injured, I’d say. He’s dying. And when his name disappears, all of that power of his will just… Boil off into the air and… Then there will be no new Dark One.
Which I seriously hope Adam and Eddy stick to that.
That sounds more like a theory of Cora’s rather than a verified fact. Aside from Rumple’s sacrifice in Season 3, has a Dark One ever died without being stabbed with the dagger by someone else? How would she know for sure what would happen if it’s never happened? I agree it would come off as retconish, but again, you can fanwank that she was theorizing.

ModeratorThere are plenty of things that aren’t established as in-show rule and then they go and do it… like splitting a heart and sharing it. I’m just saying that we’re off the map when it comes to Dark One rules because Rumple, for whatever reason, appears to no longer be the DO. If Emma is doing a spell, okay, but the show has established that there needs to be a stabbing for a new DO. Now, yes, it’s the previous DO but if that’s off the table, the stabbing could still work if the DO’s power goes back to the dagger itself.
Again, I don’t understand why you would assume a stabbing would be necessary in this unique situation. The stabbing is specifically to kill the previous Dark One. If there’s no previous Dark One to stab, then why is stabbing of any kind still required? Stabbing yourself to become the Dark One seems like an utterly pointless rule, if it were to become a thing. Why would someone becoming the Dark One have to inflict self harm?
MatthewPaul
ModeratorExcept there’s no name on the dagger which changes the rules. There is no previous Dark One to stab so a new Dark One has to be created in a new way, ie: not by stabbing the previous one. Yes, I’ve seen the video but it feels weird that there would be no stabbing. We’re in uncharted territory as far as the Curse goes.
Why does Emma have to stab herself to become the new Dark One? That’s still nothing that’s been established as an in-show rule before. The stabbing only seemed necessary before because normally you have to kill the current Dark One first, but in this case there appears to be no current Dark One to stab. Perhaps Emma raising the dagger in the air for some sort of spell is all she has to do in this situation.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI assumed there was a stab scene in there….? Or I thought people were saying that. Because how else would she become the Dark One
But you don’t become the Dark One by stabbing yourself with the dagger. You have to stab the current Dark One. Though according to how Emma says “the dagger needs to be attached to someone”, it seems the dagger is currently nameless in that scene. Which means either Rumple already died without being stabbed, or he was freed from the curse. Anyway, here’s the video and two of the detailed set reports. Nothing about Emma stabbing herself:

ModeratorPossibly, though the entire stabby scene was filmed outdoors and has gotten out, something A and E are claiming hasn’t happened. Unless the final scene is a close up of the dagger with Emma’s name on it and then seeing Emma being “reborn” as the Dark One
If you re-watch the video and the filming reports, Emma doesn’t stab herself. I don’t know where some people are getting that, but that’s not what I saw happen. What I saw happen was Emma just raising the dagger in the air and disappearing.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI had a feeling that scene with Emma and the dagger wasn’t the final scene of the episode. I know it’ll be near the end, but just always knew there would be at least something else before fading to black. Considering that dagger scene was filmed out in the open, that doesn’t sound like the secret final scene.
Also, really don’t know about Jafar now. They said it won’t be a “familiar fairy tale face” not a “familiar OUAT face”, which I think rules him out. They also said before that the ending won’t be a “new villain/new realm” twist, but more along the lines of the end of Season 1, where the changing condition was Rumple bringing magic into Storybrooke.

ModeratorThe way I figured it, it’s like Chernabog. Hes magical and cant exist over the town line. So when he crossed it, he disappeared, went away forever. The magic in Zelen’as heart was magic. They crossed the town line, and it went away forever. Now that they are back, the magic doesn’t affect her again because its gone.
Problem is if it works like that, shouldn’t Rump no longer be the Dark One? He crossed the town line, his connection to thhe dagger should be broken. Unless the dagger just has to remain connected to magic…Idk. *shrug* Yea, lets just go with PLOT
I think my theory that Zelena was faking the freezing spell this time around is what would make the most sense.

ModeratorUpon further investigation, while ABC didn’t list the guest stars in the press release, some of them are still tagged in the promotional photos on the DisneyABCPress site.
The guy on the right is Benjamin Wilkinson: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1649128/
The couple on the right are Paralee Cook (Who’s already credited on IMDB as “Wife”) and Sean Campbell: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0177218/
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0076702/I feel like the couple won’t be too important, but Benjamin’s character could be.
MatthewPaul
Moderator(Hey look it’s the guy from Agent Carter in the flashback scene!)
Which character or actor was he? Trying to think. Too bad ABC didn’t include the guest star cast in the press release…
